Family Tributes God Only Takes the Best! God saw that he was getting tired, A cure was not to be. So He put His arms around him and whispered, “Come to Me.”
With tearful eyes, we watched him suffer, And saw him fade away. Although we loved him dearly, We could not make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes “The Best”.
With Love, Twink To Squeaky Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same; But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again!
Your Brother, Teddy
To Our Brother God looked around His garden and saw an empty place, Then He looked down upon the Earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you, and lifted you to rest With the help of His angels, the flew you to your Heavenly resting place! We love you and will miss you dearly!
Your Sisters, Eleanor & Julianna
To My Dear Brother-in-Law
We thought of you with love today. But that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday. And days before that too. We think of you in silence. We often speak your name. Now all we have is memories. And your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake. With which we’ll never part. God has you in his keeping. We have you in our hearts.
Love Always, Mildred
Dad... We’ll Alwways Remember You!
We’ll always remember that special smile, that caring heart, and that warm embrace you always gave us. You being there for Mom and us, through good and bad times, no matter what. We’ll always remember you, Dad, because there’ll never be another one to replace you in our hearts, and the love we will always have for you.

Life Reflections
Lloyd Edward Potter, affectionately known as “Squeaky, was born on August 21, 1952, in Memphis, Tennessee -- the youngest child of the late Joseph Potter Sr. and Octavia Potter. Lloyd accepted Christ at an early age, coming from a loving family whose parents nurtured his Christian life. He was always supportive of his daughters and grandson in every event they participated in at Greater New Shiloh MB Church; particularly, the Youth & Young Adult Bar-B-Que Contest for the past 25 years. Lloyd was definitely a sports fanatic. Not only did he enjoy cheering on the University of Memphis, but he was thrilled having one godson coach college football and another godson playing professional football with the NFL. He followed them both throughout their careers. Lloyd graduated in 1970 from Memphis Technical High School, the first Vocational Education High School in the United States. After graduation, he enlisted into the United States Air Force, where he ranked as an SGT E-4/Communication Center Specialist. His tour of duty ended in 1974 and he remained in the Reserve until 1977. He began his career with the Memphis Defense Depot as a Packer WG-05. Upon closure of the Memphis service center, he relocated to Norfolk, VA where he retired in 2005. On Friday evening, December 18, 2020, at Methodist North Hospital, Lloyd departed this life and went to his eternal home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Octavia Potter, and his brother, Thomas Potter. He leaves to cherish his memory: his former wife of eight years, Doris Potter of Memphis, TN; three daughters: Joshlyn Potter, Octavia Potter, and Lori Potter, all of Memphis, TN; one grandson: Viree Potter of Memphis, TN; two sisters: Julianna Johnson of North Augusta, SC, and Eleanor Tucker (Bruce) of Memphis, TN; one brother, Joseph Potter Jr, of Memphis TN; one sister-in-law, Mildred Potter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children, other relatives, and very dear friends.

Acknowledgment
What a Mighty God we serve. To God be the glory! There is such comfort in knowing that we are not alone. God is with us and the assurance of His blessings are manifested in the warm and sincere expressions of sympathy shown to us by family and friends. We are most grateful to the nurses and staff at Spring Gate Nursing Rehabilitation Center, Baptist Memorial Hospital, and Methodist North Hospital for all they have done. To everyone, your personal visits, calls, cards, floral arrangements, food offerings, and other special gestures during this time have truly touched our hearts. We are especially appreciative for the fervent prayers whispered on our behalf. May God continue to bless and keep each of you. ~ The Family of Mr. Lloyd Edward Potter ~
