Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. 28
Proverbs 31:28-31, KJV
Our Mother Words are useless in times like this, They seem to only get in the way Although we know what we feel, We don’t know just what we should say. We miss your sweet demeanor, Your charm, your grace, your style; You are elegant, you are humble, With the most engaging smile. The varied hats you wore so well As you sojourned through this life; A loving mother, a trusted friend, A devoted, faithful wife. The whole truth of what you mean to us Is one that words can never tell; We love you, we miss you, we’re so grateful. You taught us all so well. So rest, dear Mother; you’ve earned the right To claim heaven as your home; You were blessed with your sweet spirit But you were only here on loan.

REFLECTING ON THE LIFE OF
On February 22, 1933, in Brownsville, TN the Lord blessed Lena Elmore and Charlie Dixon with a precious gem appropriately named Mildred’ which means “Gentle Strength”. She was the youngest of five siblings who preceded her in death. God called her home in the early morning hours of September 27, 2017. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age in Brownsville, Tennessee, and later joined Golden United Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev. George Lanier. She played an active role in the church, and used her love for cooking by helping to prepare food for bereaved families and fellowship dinners. Mildred was united in holy matrimony to Alfred Busby, who preceded her in death. Mildred’s family was her entire focus. She opened her home and heart to many children over the years as she was blessed to be an at-home Mom. To cherish her sweet memory, she leaves five children: Ray Chambers of Chicago, Illinois, Billy Chambers of Memphis, Tennessee, Hilda Chambers of Memphis, Tennessee, Warren (Jan) Chambers of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Wilfred (Lillian) Busby of Memphis , Tennessee; four grandchildren: RayJanese Chambers, Ray Chambers, Jr., Brandon Ward, and Brian McNairy. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a dear friend Vurnice “Precious” Crossley, who helped to care for her.

Grandma’s Gone to Heaven One quiet day, the angels came And took grandma far away But in the stillness of the night We could almost hear her say
“Dear grandchild, I will miss you. You mean so much to me But Jesus called me to His side In Heaven I will be. A place of God’s great beauty No tears or earthly cares Only peace and joy forever And love beyond compare. So remember all the good times Don’t think about the sad Treasure all the special moments Through the years we’ve always had. And if you trust in Jesus I can promise this and more You will get a hug from grandma Someday on Heaven’s golden shore.”
