Oscar L. Dawson was born September 7, 1948 to Viola Dawson and Oscar L. Dawson, Sr. in Tyronza, Arkansas. Even as a youngster, he made an impact on people’s lives and was affectionately known to many as “Big Mane”. Throughout his life, he referred to himself as “a man of many talents...a master of none”. From construction work to military service, if Oscar saw something that could put food on his table, that’s what he did. In his words, if it made a dollar, it made sense. He eventually settled down as a retired military officer and construction worker who enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow. Oscar departed this life on Sunday, March 31, 2019, in his favorite truck while listening to his favorite blues tunes while in route to the hospital. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife, Gladys Blue; one brother, Marvin Dawson; two sisters: Amanzie Straughter and Barbara Joiner; and a son, Lawrence “Li’l Mane” Springfield. To cherish his memory, he leaves his children: Danny Dawson, Glitters Dawson and Solomon Dawson; three stepchildren: Veniece Owens, Joyce Edwards, and Larry Springfield; four grandchildren: Dekiah Johnson, Sky Dawson, Jamarion Irby, and Dawna Dawson; his siblings: Bertha Curtis, Patsy Lynn Macklin, Larry Dawson, Clifford Dawson, Gloria Brown, Michael Dawson, David Dawson, Lillie Mems, Elmira McKinney, Devin Dawson, Scott Dawson, and Andrew Dawson; and a host of other relatives and friends who will cherish his legacy for a lifetime.

In Our Hearts
In our hearts, we thought of you today, but that was nothing new; We thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. We think of you in silence. We often speak your name; Now all we have are memories, and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake with which we’ll never part; God has you in His keeping. We have you in our hearts!

The Twenty-Third Psalm
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. 1
