TO MY SISTER
There was always the three of us, and Lisa made four. Words cannot describe how much I will miss your presence. We were always so different, but we balanced each other in a way that only sisters understand. We fought with each other, but most importantly, we fought for each other. I will miss our weekly date nights, which you recently brought up. I will miss driving and singing random songs and impromptu dances. I will miss watching your relationship with Lisa flourish. But, I will cherish you forever!
I KNOW... I know that you’re at peace... I know that you’re at rest... I know that you’re with God above... I know He knows what’s best! I know one day we’ll meet again! But I also know this, too... There’s a lonely place inside my heart That can only be filled by you. I Will ALWAYS Love You,
Mom
Love,
Dani TO MY DAUGHTER
When I think of the special memories, and wonderful times we’ve had, I realize just how blessed I’ve been to be chosen by God as your dad. Though the days and months that lie ahead will most certainly be hard, I will not say that we lost you; we simply returned an angel to God. I’ll Miss You, Baby Girl,
Dad
Remembering Pearl...
A pearl is a timeless treasure whose value and illustrious beauty exist naturally, without the need to be cut or polished by man. Its beauty is something that only God can create and perfect…
Alicia Denise Miller was born to Felicia and Dane Miller on Friday, August 13, 1982, in Memphis, Tennessee. With her sweet disposition, radiant smile, and illustrious beauty, she became affectionately known as Pearl. From birth, it was obvious that God had perfected and crafted this precious jewel to touch the world – which she did for 38 glorious years. Pearl was most definitely a praiser! She professed her belief in Jesus Christ early in life at the Alpha Church Congregations of the Temples of the Living God, where she began singing in the youth choir. Music would become one of several vehicles that she used to draw others to Him. She later united with the New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the Choir Directress, a Youth Ministry worker, Concessions Coordinator, and member of the Hospitality Team. As a Kingdom-minded servant, she served her Pastors and church family diligently. She could be counted on to pitch in and take care of whatever her hands found to do in God’s house…even in times of sickness. In 2000, Alicia graduated from Carver High School where she participated in the athletics program and other extracurricular activities.
As the recipient of a softball scholarship, she continued her education at LeMoyne-Owen College. Using her musical gifts, she served as the Directress of the LeMoyne-Owen College Gospel Choir from 2016 until 2020. Under her leadership, many students were led to Christ, and they honored her for her guidance, her selfless displays of compassion, and her genuine, nurturing spirit. Professionally, she spent fifteen years as a member of the internationally renowned recording choir Pastor Darrel Petties & Strength in Praise, and three years as a member of the award-winning recording choir Pastor Josh Bracy & Power Anointed. She also used her beautiful soprano voice to assist other music ministries at home and abroad throughout her lifetime. Pearl was also an entrepreneur. She established herself as a gifted hairstylist and maker of gourmet treats. Her unique ability to create delicious chocolate covered strawberries, candied grapes, and other delectable treats was known and celebrated throughout the tri-state area! She hardly ever met a stranger, and she often admonished her friends and family to “love hard”. Simply put, Pearl embodied love. Although she has gone to be with our Heavenly Father, her beautiful spirit will live throughout eternity. To cherish her memory, she leaves her mother, Felicia Miller; her father, Dane (Michelle) Miller; her great-grandmother, Elder Jessie Gilliland; and four siblings: Angelica “Danielle” Love, Jessica Brown, Adrianne Miller, Christopher Miller, and Dane Miller, Jr. She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, godchildren, special godmothers, and dear friends.
