Our Vision Our Vision at The Summit Church Nashville is to become and maintain a presence as a diverse, intergenerational, multi-ethnic, celebratory church with a intentional focus on developing disciples of Jesus Christ. We are representatives of the Kingdom of God through embracing all people according to Mark 8:34 (NRSV) “He called the crowd with his disciples, and said to them, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” Our vision is to be a tangible extension of the Body of Christ by displaying the attributes of Christ’s transformational presence in the life of the believer, the community, and the world.
Our Mission At The Summit Church Nashville, our mission is to reach unbelievers through introduction of the transformative power of the Gospel of Jesus the Christ, to disciple and develop hearts of surrender to God’s initiation, passion, and movement toward us as God’s children. We exist as an institution of Christian faith to engage God with a focus on righteous living, personal and communal development as well as collective accountability. We seek to demonstrate and initiate Christ-centered love that convicts, compels, encourages, strengthens and commissions all people as representatives of Christ in the earth with an emphasis to be responsive to the mandate in building the Kingdom of God.
Our Mandate The Summit Church Nashville is boldly adamant about the transformative work to which God has called and commissioned us. We honor our tradition as an extension for Christian unity by cooperating and partnering with other faith communities to work for bringing about completeness - reconciliation and justice in the world. Our mandate is rooted in extending authentic community not just in word, but in deed to connect people to Christ. Recognizing people come from all different walks of life and contexts, we believe that these are essential in becoming the tangible message of transformation as found in the process of sanctification. Sanctification is “the work of God’s free grace, whereby we are renewed in the whole person after the image of God, and are enabled more and more to die unto sin, and live unto righteousness.” It is a continuing change worked by God in us. God’s method of sanctification is neither activism (self-reliant activity) nor apathy (God-reliant passivity), but human effort dependent on God (2 Cor. 7:1; Phil. 3:10-14; Heb. 12:14). Knowing that without Christ’s enabling we cannot do good works, but also that Christ is ready to strengthen us for all we have to do (Phil. 4:13), we “abide” in Christ, asking for God’s help constantly- and we receive it (Col. 1:11; 1 Tim. 1:12; 2 Tim. 1:7; 2:1). We are openly evangelistic in our efforts to relentlessly pursue all souls through actively demonstrating the relentless, unconditional love of the Father. We are burdened for the salvation of lost souls because the love of Christ impels us. We are charged to cross social, cultural, linguistic, and national barriers to share the liberating power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Church History
Exodus 13:21 (NLT) - The LORD went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and he provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night. The Summit Church Nashville was organized on August 18, 2020 in Hendersonville, TN. Dr. Robert O’Keefe Hassell and Pastor Toby D. Atkins were two innovative minds who concretely identified the need for an authentic place of healing, transformation and development in the Greater Nashville Metropolitan area and surrounding cities. Under the guidance and counsel of Rev. Dr. Herbert R. Marbury, the vision was furthered through rigorous development and discipline. On November 9, 2020, The Summit Church Nashville was presented to the Presiding Bishop and Chief Apostle of The Celebration of Praise Ministries, Bishop Q.S. Caldwell, Th.D., D.D. With his endorsement and approval, the work was initiated. Zechariah 4:10 (NLT) - Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” (The seven lamps represent the eyes of the LORD that search all around the world.) The Summit Church Nashville’s journey as a movement and ministry began at the St. Eli Church (Nashville, TN). Bible study and prayer were the core of those meetings. During this time, the fellowship grew, and community was developed. The Summit Church Nashville was approved by the Presiding Bishop and Executive Board and received into full fellowship with the organization known as The Celebration of Praise Ministries, Inc. on June 15, 2020. The Summit Church Nashville is a part of the North Georgia Jurisdiction of The Celebration of Praise Ministries, Inc. The first official service of The Summit Church Nashville was held on Sunday, June 28, 2020. Revelation 3:8 (KJV) - I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. The Summit Church Nashville is devoted to developing followers of Jesus Christ. We are a diverse, multiethnic, innovative, and inter-generational congregation of believers in Jesus the Christ. We are an unapologetic, radical people whose efforts are intentionally focused on spreading the eternal message of God’s love for the world (John 3:16), teaching the disciplines of biblical principles needed for a successful Christian life, and showing through all of our interactions God’s redemptive purposes for all humankind. 1 John 4:16 - “God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” At “The Summit,” we are committed to faith, family and forward movement. Our motto is “Engaging God. Cultivating Purpose. Developing Disciples.” Love is at the center of our faith community. In knowing this, love is never solitary. It requires community to operate. We are a faith community rooted in fidelity as we care for each other, help each other, and support each other throughout life’s many transitions during our journey as believers. We are committed to being a loving, consistent community of disciples.
A Word from our L eader Habakkuk 3:19 (KJV) - The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments. Grace and Peace to all of you from our Lord, Jesus the Christ! God has tremendously blessed all of us here at The Summit Church Nashville since our initial inception. I am humbled that God would call me to such a great assignment and to such a diverse, yet extraordinary group of people. As we begin this journey together, I am encouraged to know that God is with us without fail. Our collective perseverance, endurance, resilience, and tenacity have matched our unwavering faith in God’s ability to perform His promise and initiate the unexpected. I am in awe of the work that He has called us to do and the grace that He has bestowed on us to meet the needs found in our local, regional, national, and global communities. To The Summit Church Nashville Family, I love each of you and anticipate the unfolding of such an awesome journey in our work to advance the Kingdom of God. You are the greatest church on earth! To The Summit Church Nashville Executive Team, words cannot express how grateful I am that you are assigned to me as we embark upon this endeavor. Your willingness to work, commitment, faithfulness, sacrifices and investment of countless hours have yielded the manifestation of the work that we are witnessing in this very moment. It is my hope that as we move in synchronicity and unity that God gives each of us unmerited favor, mercy, and grace to transcend the norms while pioneering trails that have never been discovered. To my immediate family, mentors and genuine supporters thank you. I appreciate the intentionality of your impartation without agenda, the consistent cultivation, the critical care concerning my healing naturally and spiritually during transitional seasons, the reigniting of my faith and restoration in purpose. The season of development to get to this point and birthing the vision to manifestation was rigorous from many angles. Your love, encouragement, and consistent prayers have meant the world to me. I pray, with God’s help, that I will become more than I am as I strive to make God’s name great by what you have instilled in me. To Bishop Q.S. Caldwell and the Celebration of Praise Ministries, Inc. Family, and the North Georgia Jurisdiction, you all are such a strong foundation for us! We are grateful to be an extension of your ministry work in the Tennessee area. To all those who have come from far and near to celebrate our Pastoral Installation, we appreciate you. Continue to fervently pray for us as we strive to be what God has ordained for the cause of the Kingdom. Pursuing All for the Cause of Christ,
