Our beloved, Mr. Travis Neal Fair, was born on August 14, 1942, in rural Gibson County to the late Charlie Horace Fair and Lillian LaRue Stinson Fair. He was the fourth of seven children, three of whom (Roy Bryant, Vallie Jean and William Charles) preceded him in death. On Monday, April 3, 2017, at Bailey Park Community Living Center, Travis closed his eyes on this side but opened them to behold the presence of the Lord forever. He professed hope in Christ at an early age at Bascom Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and later united his membership with Lane Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Humboldt, Tennessee. He regularly attended church, sang with the Male Chorus, frequently attended Sunday School and enjoyed fellowshipping with other churches in the community until his health prevented him from continuing to do so. Travis was educated in the rural county schools in West Tennessee and graduated from Central High School in Alamo, Tennessee. He was a man of few words but had a big heart. He was an avid card player and enjoyed demonstrating his extraordinary skills at the card table! His first union in love and matrimony was to Lydia Frances Cole Fair. To this blessed union, two sons, Garry Lewis and Everett
Neal, were born. Travis was a loving and devoted husband to Lydia Frances until her death. Although heartbroken after her death, God mended the broken pieces by allowing him to meet and marry his second wife, Patricia Westbrook Fair who also later preceded him in death. Together they raised another son, Anthony Cottrell and were the surrogate parents to over twenty-five children whom they loved, raised and cared for as their own. Many people were fed and sheltered at the home of Travis and Pat. Travis was employed at Copeland Electric Company (Emerson) where he was a committed and dependable employee until his retirement. He leaves to cherish his memory and life: three sons, Garry (Angela) Fair of Cordova, Tennessee, Everett Fair of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Anthony Cottrell of Humboldt, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Arielle, Garrison, Hayley and Tyesha; three siblings, Morris (Brenda) Fair, Erna Frances (Arthur) Boykin, Harold (Dale) Fair; a special sister-in- law, Alverna Fair who cared for him; four aunts, Frances McClinton, Velma Achols, Lillie Fair and Alma Stinson; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
