92.5 X 136 CM | ARTIST PROOF | $3500 AU Icebergs carve off Europe’s largest glacier, the vatnajokull glacier, and are washed out a narrow channel to sea with the outgoing tide. the tide then brings them up and deposits them back on the black sand where they melt. the iceberg is backlit by the sun and appears to be glowing from within.

Balancing the camera to avoid camera shake, manually focusing the lens, shielding the bulbous front element from the pervasive salt spray, framing the image all whilst on a pitching, moving ship surrounded by other photographers resulted in this fabulous image.

This massive iceberg is not only enormous but the palette of colours on display is literally unbelievable. There are so many shades of blue in the antarctic with many of them so intense that they fall outside the gamut of some printers.

Cruising past gigantic stadium sized icebergs the weather was overcast providing the ideal moody lighting for photography. Taking this shot was amazing; simultaneously staring in awe at one of natures most amazing wonders and taking what you know will be a perfect picture.
