LOUISVILLE, Ky., / Christian Newswire/ -- With mounting troubles recently, the last thing Kentucky’s only remaining abortion provider needed was an unusual act of interposition this past Saturday morning. World War II survivor, Eva Edl, along with ten other individuals, mostly from outside Kentucky, positioned themselves on the sidewalk in front of the clinic, which effectively blocked access through the front doors of the death clinic. Eva Edl, 82 years old, was interred as a child in a Russian concentration camp following World War II. She barely made it out alive. It was there

UK (MNN) — This week, the world mourns with Britain after a bombing attack on Monday targeted young concert-goers in Manchester, England. At least 22 people were killed and 59 others injured. A dozen victims were under 16-years-old, some even elementary aged. Several of those hospitalized are still in critical condition. The explosion rocked the foyer at one of the concert arena’s exits around 10:30 pm. The concert’s singer, Ariana Grande, had just exited the stage and many of the young audience members were exiting

or purchasing concert memorabilia. Todd Nettleton with Voice of the Martyrs says, “[Our] first thought is obviously for the families of those who have lost loved ones — especially thinking of losing young people, teenagers, just what a horrible thing this is for them. Certainly, we want to pray for comfort for them.” The bomber has been identified as 22-year-old Salman Abedi, who was killed in the explosion. A place where God would begin a revival, advancing the Gospel around the world

LA MIRADA, Calif., / Christian Newswire/ -- Biola University will launch the Center for the Study of the Work and Ministry for the Holy Spirit Today in fall 2017. Funded by a $3 million donation, the academic center is a 10-year initiative that will provide resources for a biblical examination of the person and ongoing work of the Holy Spirit, including research, publications, conferences, events and services for students. “I believe this center will play a critical role in strengthening Biola University in the midst of the challenges we face in a rapidly changing, secularizing context,” said Biola University President, Barry H. Corey. “We need to tap into the Spirit’s power in our own campus and celebrate His movement in the wider world. Christian higher education demands not just intellectual development but spiritual formation, not just rational inquiry but supernatural encounter.” The center is envisioned as a home for biblical scholars who wish to provide

greater attention to not just a theology of the Holy Spirit but also the awakening and empowering of the Holy Spirit. It will be a training ground for students and faculty who want a greater infusion of the Spirit’s enablement to be more effective in evangelism, global mission, praying for the sick, bringing deliverance to the oppressed and defeating the power of sin. Among the initiatives led by the center will be a global leader-in-residence appointment with two one-week intensive residents for an internationally influential Christian leader, a faculty fellows research program, a biennial international student conference on spirit empowerment, a biennial symposium featuring faculty research, monthly spirit empowerment vespers services, and collaborative work with existing Biola departments. “Biola wants to learn from the extraordinary ways that the Spirit is working globally and for our students to experience this empowerment to impact

The motivation for funding a center at Biola was to balance the study of the Word of God with a renewed emphasis on the empowering work of the Holy Spirit, they said. A director to lead the center will be selected with help from a search committee later this spring, at the conclusion of a nationwide search process that began earlier this year. Biola leaders see the center as a powerful counterweight to the challenges pressing upon Christian colleges and universities. “We would be so bold as to pray and plan that through this project Biola would be a place where God would begin a revival the likes of which we have never seen and the impact of which would be globally felt, advancing the gospel around the world,” states the center’s proposal document.

ved in rescuing sex slaves in northern Iraq. “It is right to stop ISIS and rescue the thousands of girls and women held as sex slaves,” he notes on the FBR website. “It is right to stop their global acts of murder and terror.” FBR has a two-part strategy: First, to set the oppressed free and defeat ISIS. Secondly, to share God’s love and mercy and open a way for change. “We stand against ISIS and we’re also praying for the people of ISIS—and asking God for love for them. No one is beyond redemption: In Burma a regime soldier who once murdered villagers joined our team to help the same people he once attacked.” When Eubank first saw the black flag of ISIS flying outside of Mosul, it drove

him to his knees to pray that ISIS would be stopped, the Kurds and other oppressed minorities would be set free, and that God would change the hearts of the enemy. “Fighting evil and grounding our actions in love are practical ways towards defeating ISIS and uniting for a new way forward,” he notes. Support Catholic Teacher Punished for Quoting Saint on Islam

HANOVER, Penn., /Christian Newswire/ -- Sixthgrade teacher Mark Smythe was reportedly threatened with dismissal after he used a catechetical text about Islam written by Saint John Bosco at Blessed Trinity Catholic School in Ocala, Florida. Dr. Jacquelyn Flanigan, Associate Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Orlando - instead of standing by Mark Smythe - reportedly reprimanded him for “disrespect” to Islam, claiming that his action was “not consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church.” Many Catholics are perplexed however. “I don’t understand why a Catholic instructor at a Catholic school is being punished for quoting a Catholic saint,” said TFP Help and encouragement Student Action director after the death of a loved John Ritchie. “This is not one. only troublesome, but also unjust.” MONDAYS 7 - 9 PM Restoration Fellowship So far more than 16,559 5614 Richardson Rd. people have signed a petition in support of the teacher, urging the Catholic Superintendant of Schools for the Diocese of Orlando to respect Mr. Smythe’s academic freedom. The petition poses a series of questions: “If Mark is threatened with dismissal for quoting Saint John Bosco, what other Catholic saints will be next? Saint Thomas Aquinas? Blessed Urban II who convoked the Crusades? Saint Pius V who celebrated the victory of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Catholic fleet over Islam at Lepanto? Saint Francis of Assisi who tried to convince sultan Al-Kamil of Egypt of the errors of Islam and bring him to the truth of the Catholic faith?” Those who signed the petition are calling on school officials to serve “justice and truth by retaining Mr. Smythe as a teacher.”

Benghazi Battle, One man’s divine intervention by God

ORANGE COUNTY, CA -- After recovering from severe wounds while defending lives at the Battle of Benghazi, former special operative contractor Mark “Oz” Geist, chose to serve his country in a different way by establishing the Shadow Warriors Project (www.shadowwarriorsproject.org). Geist, who also co-authored the book “13 Hours: The Inside Account Of What Really Happened In Benghazi”, which later became the premise of a movie, recently had the opportunity to talk about the project with Every Man Show radio hosts Kenny Luck and Anthony Dever. Geist said the project is his “way of continuing service” to Americans. “Ninety percent of us in the military are there because it’s our sense of service, and that service can continue,” said Geist, who also served in the Marine Corp for 12 years. Private security contractors, unlike military personnel, do not have a workman’s comp policy. “The day I left Benghazi, which was the morning of the12th, my pay stops. were on their way to pray at the remote monastery of Saint Samuel the Confessor, about 140 miles south of Cairo. “They used automatic weapons,” Essam el-Bedawi, the governor of Minya, told Egypt’s state media. Egyptian television showed pictures of a bus with its windows shot out and people injured in the attack being rushed to hospital. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but www.CBNNews.comsays the terror incident has the hallmarks of the Islamic State group. Egypt’s tiny Christian minority, which makes up about 10 percent of the population, has repeatedly been targeted by various Islamic groups. “The growing number of these terror attacks is not

at all reassuring,” Father Rafic Greiche, spokesman for the Egyptian Catholic church, told a local television station. Egyptian president Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi called for an emergency security meeting following today’s attack which also brought swift condemnation from around the world. Dr. Robert Jeffress, a radio host and senior pastor of First Baptist Church Dallas, said president Trump was right when he described in his speech on Islam in Saudi Arabia that the war against radical Islamic terrorism was a “battle between good and evil.” “If the world doesn’t do more in defense of persecuted Christians we are going to see tens of thousands more die, quickly,” Jeffress said in a statement. “Let’s be clear: Islamic terrorists want to do to Christians in Egypt exactly what they did to them in Iraq and in Syria.” The Islamic State even warned Muslims to “stay away from Christian gatherings,” saying more massacres were being planned. “Hundreds of families

of the battle from his perspective, one that includes being part of the Global Response Staff (GRS) that was told to “stand down.” While Oz and the team were unable to save the lives of U.S. Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens and three others, many lives were saved on the night members of An-sar al-Sharia attacked the American diplomatic compound and CIA annex in Benghazi. Every Man Show host, Kenny Luck, said he was excited for listeners to hear from Geist, firsthand, something more meaningful than sound bites often driven by political spin. “What differentiates this interview from most cov-

erage the public has seen or heard reported about The Battle of Benghazi is the discussion of the transcendent ‘meta-themes’ of freedom, sacrifice, and the high cost of liberty in any form,” Luck said. “In today’s culture, events such as Benghazi get chopped up and parsed out to the media hyenas which, in turn, gets over-politicized and sound-bited. “The book and the film go a long way to uncover and reveal what happened but this interview affords listeners many moments where the transcendent philosophical and spiritual themes are allowed to burst through in a truthful and refreshing way,” he said. “When you watch the mainstream media there is a little voice inside that is dying to be heard—that voice is saying ‘You are missing the big ideas!’ This interview satisfies at that level.” The Every Man Show, produced by One Ten Pictures (http://www.onetenpictures.com/), airs on KKLA 99.5 Los Angeles on radio and through its website (http://kkla.com/) Monday-Friday 10:30 to 11 pm. Iraq: Top cleric says Christians must convert to Islam, be killed, or pay tax llis

E rk a M By

IRAQ (ANS - May, 2017) --One of Iraq’s most senior government Shia clerics mimicked the hateful rhetoric of ISIS by declaring in a recent sermon that Christian “infidels” must convert to Islam, be killed, or pay a tax known as jizya. Sheikh Alaa Al-Mousawi, the head of Iraq’s Shia endowment, made the remarks in southern Iraq, captured in a YouTube video published May 17th. In response, almost 200 Iraqi Christian families filed a lawsuit against the Sheikh, charging that he is fomenting sectarian violence against Christians in a manner reminiscent of the extremist group ISIS, according to the Middle East Monitor (MEM). The irony is that Iraq is a key ally in the fight against ISIS, but Iran’s growing influence in the country does not bode well for Christians. Al-Mousawi is in charge of the government body that maintains Iraq’s Shia holy sites, including mosques and schools.

He described Christians as “infidels and polytheists” and stressed the need for “jihad” against them. He has also said that “Jews and Christians” must be fought and killed if they do not accept Islam, with the same fate awaiting Zoroastrians as well as Sabi-

sion to Islam. Either they convert to Islam, or else they are killed or they pay the jizya (a tax on non-Muslims), depending on any agreements with the leader of the Muslims who is the Prophet (Muhammad) or the Imam. “Of course in this ruling

During the event’s press conference organized by the Israel Allies Foundation, Johnson and others made the case for moving the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. “The United States of America must be a true friend to Israel and mean it,” he said. “If we mean it, we’ll do it.” Johnson stated that the 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Act has established clearly in U.S. law that Jerusalem is the political capital of up by saying aloud what God’s Word says instead of the lie. United States (MNN) — There is something precious about meeting with people in need, to hear their stories and offer comfort. It may not be comfortable or easy to shoulder someone else’s burdens in the process, but that act can open the door to a life transformed by joy. This is what Forgotten Man Ministries experiences in their outreach to county jails throughout Michigan. When Set Free volunteers Jodi Sonksen and Sue Dunn first began working in the jail with Sarah Heaton of Forgotten Man, it was overwhelming. How can there be so much pain? They shared the story of one woman from the jail who we’ll call Glowbug — for privacy, and because that’s what her nickname is. We’ll explain why in a moment. Heaton shares, “When she

She was so burdened by all of these struggles that even before she got to jail, she already felt imprisoned. “We slowly started working with her and replacing the lies that she believed about herself. Again, the belief that ‘I’m worthless.’” As we talked about yesterday, in order to accept the truth of the Gospel, lies have to be eradicated. The Steps to Freedom in Christ walks the women through this process to renounce the lies and Satan’s hold on their life. They do this verbally, following it

And when we start negotiating about other things, all parties will take us seriously that when we say something we will do it.” Johnson also pointed out that Israel is America’s top ally in the region, but has been treated with suspicion and not allowed to pick its own capital as every other country has been able to do. “For the last few years, the United States government has given our ally’s adversary, Iran, the benefit of the doubt, and treated Israel with suspicion,” he said. “And I am so glad to see this reset, where the new President is saying, ‘We give Israel the benefit of the doubt, and call out Iran for its transgres sions.’” Moreover, from a reliHer face just shone with God’s love,” Heaton says. Glowbug was beginning to understand that true joy, which comes from knowing Jesus, did not depend on her circumstances. Heaton says today, you cannot talk to this woman without knowing that she loves Jesus. In fact, every time she sends a text, it’s signed with, ‘Jesus loves me!!!” They shared a bit more of Glowbug’s testimony in her own words: “God is beyond amazing. [With] Him, nothing is impossible. I praise Him everyday. My Heavenly Father is a faithful, loving, compassionate, merciful protector, and trustworthy. He has blessed me in so, so many ways. I can’t wait to tell more people about Him. Johnson concluded with a call to prayer for Jerusalem. “Today, we’re here to say we’re praying for Jerusalem. We’re working for Jerusalem. We’re speaking for Jerusalem,” Johnson said. New Movie Retelling the Miracle of the Six Day War for Jerusalem and the Western Wall

Anniversary of the Arab-Israeli Six-Day War, comes the gripping new docudrama IN OUR HANDS: THE BATTLE FOR JERUSALEM, bringing to life the miracle battle of paratroopers’ hard-won victory at Ammunition Hill that reclaimed Jerusalem’s Old City and the Western Wall. From CBN Documentaries and packed with interviews, archival footage and historic reenactments, IN OUR HANDS came to movie theaters nationwide for a one-night Fathom Events presentation on May 23, including exclusive commentary from CBN CEO Gordon Robertson. “To know this story is to have to tell it, particularly on the 50th anniversary of the event,” CBN CEO Gordon Robertson said. “From the very Israeli paratroopers who fought it, IN OUR HANDS unveils the surprise victory that returned to the Jews the Old City of Jerusalem and the Western Wall of the old Temple. One soldier called it ‘the returning to the nation its heart.’” For centuries, their nation had been in exile. For a generation, they had been without access to their ancestral city. For six days, surrounded by enemies, Israel stood alone…and changed history!

a stated goal to wipe Israel off the map. Less than 20 years after reforming as a nation, Israel was on the verge of extinction. Yet six days in early June 1967 changed history forever. IN OUR HANDS tells the story of Israel’s 55th Paratrooper Brigade and how Israel Defense Forces (IDF) risked everything for the sake of their homeland. With firsthand interviews and historical reenactments, this powerful docudrama focuses on the commitment and sacrifice of the soldiers who reunited Jerusalem. For those who vividly recall the historical declaration by the IDF that “The Temple Mount is in our hands,” and those who would like to learn more about this stunning victory by Israel, IN OUR HANDS will captivate and compel. Shot in Jerusalem on the actual battle sites, more than 100 actors (extras are real paratroopers) re-enact the deadly fighting at Ammunition Hill and the Old City. Other scenes are replicated at the Rockefeller Museum and the Mount of Olives. “Most accounts of the Six-Day War are straight documentaries, and The Battle of Ammunition Hill is a sentence or two,” Rob-

NAPA, Calif., /Christian Newswire/ -- Life Legal Defense Foundation Senior Staff Counsel Allison Aranda was in court yesterday on behalf of Father James Linton, the Anglican priest who was arrested outside of a San Bernardino Planned Parenthood on October 7, 2016. At no time was Father Linton on Planned Parenthood’s property-but that did not stop the abortion facility’s director from calling the police and having Linton taken into custody. When Linton asked the officer why he was being arrested

and whether he was on private property, the officer told Linton to “just be cool.” The police allegedly arrested Father Linton for an obscure provision of the trespass law that prohibits interference with a business. What was Linton doing? He handed a leaflet to a woman as she entered the abortion facility and told her he would pray for her. Apparently, the officers believed that engaging in First Amendment speech on a public sidewalk is now a form of trespass. Informed with the lawand understanding that

these pivotal scenes and events with such intense accuracy. For new generations of Jews and Christians, IN OUR HANDS is a must-see.” IN OUR HANDS: THE BATTLE FOR JERUSALEM brings to vivid life the miraculous battle of the 1967 Six-Day Arab-Israeli War and the paratroopers whose hard-won victory at Ammunition Hill reclaimed Jerusalem’s Old City and the Western Wall. David conquered Jerusalem 3,000 years ago. The Babylonians destroyed it; Ezra and Nehemiah restored it, and in 70 A.D., the Romans destroyed it again. For the next thousand years, Israel’s ancient capital was not its own -- until 50 years ago. Fifty years after reclaiming Jerusalem, Jews and Christians do well to remember the truth of the battles, the humanity of the fighters and the miracles that shape our story. In an interview with ASSIST News (www.assistnesw.net), Gordon Robertson, founder of CBN Asia, was asked what is behind the interest in a docudrama about the fighting in Jerusalem? “From the day of its founding in 1948, modern Israel has been repeatedly attacked by Arab nations.

In 1966, President Nasser of Egypt tried to create a pan-Arab union, calling for the annihilation of Israel. He worked to mobilize the Egyptian, Jordanian and Syrian armies against Israel in 1967’s Six-Day War.” Asked about the connections Robertson saw between biblical prophecy and Jerusalem today, he replied: “Jesus prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem in Matthew 24:1-2, ‘Then Jesus went out and departed from the Temple, and His disciples came up

to show Him the buildings of the Temple. And Jesus said to them, ‘Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.’” Robertson said Titus fulfilled that prophecy in AD 70, when literally every stone of the Temple was thrown down. “Jesus also prophesied the return of the Jews to Jerusalem in Luke 21:24, ‘And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations.

And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.’” He added: “Two thousand years later Israel’s 55th Paratrooper Brigade fulfilled that prophecy. When Jerusalem was reunited, the times of the Gentiles were fulfilled. The Jews are back and Israel has been reborn.” For more details, visit: www.InOurHands1967. com. “cool” is not a substitute for constitutionally protected rights-Linton contacted Life Legal to fight the charges.

“On more than one occasion, my arresting officer told me that I hadn’t ‘been cool,’ and if I would have ‘been cool,’ he would not have arrested me,” said Father Linton. “I have a short list of ambitions in life. Being ‘cool’ in the midst of a culture that murders the unborn is not on my list of ambitions.” Life Legal attorney Allison Aranda has been working to get the bogus charges

dismissed since Linton’s arrest. But the prosecutor wanted Father Linton to agree to a stay-away order, which means he would not have been permitted to stand outside the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in his community. Life Legal was adamant that Linton was in full compliance with the law. Today, Aranda ensured that the charges were dismissed with no restrictions on Father Linton’s free speech rights. “We are thrilled that the charges were dropped, but Father Linton’s unjust arrest makes us that much more determined to equip and defend those who faithfully stand in the gap for the unborn,” said Life Legal Executive Director Alexandra Snyder. “Life Legal was founded to protect advocates like Father Linton who advocate on

behalf of a society in which the slaughter of innocent human beings is unthinkable.” Life Legal Defense Foundation was established in 1989, and is a nonprofit organization composed of attorneys and other concerned citizens committed to giving helpless and innocent human beings of any age, and their advocates, a trained and committed voice in the courtrooms of our nation. Pastor loses everything in fire set by Hindu’s, wife is pregnant and they are now homeless

By Michael Ireland

HYDERABAD, INDIA -- Hardline Hindus in southern India, upset that members of their castebased group have become Christians, burned down a church building and the pastor’s home in May. Morning Star News (www. morningstarnews.org) says that after pastor John Muller and his pregnant wife left for a store on May 3, the assailants in Tamil Nadu state’s Attipattu village, Cuddalore District, set fire to their church building and adjoining home, according to Pastor Muller. He told Morning Star News that three days prior, five hardline Hindus in their mid-20s had threatened him. “They said, ‘Don’t stay here – get out of this area, or we will see your end,’” Pastor Muller said. “Recently, some villagers belonging to Vanniyar, a caste-based Hindu sect, came to Christ. The same

caste group opposes conversions in the village because they treat Christianity as a religion of lowercastes. They don’t want anyone from Vanniyar to convert to Christianity.” About 40 families attend his worship services, including the Vanniyar, he said. “The church and my house got destroyed in fire,” Pastor Muller said. “We lost everything. My wife is 26 weeks pregnant. We are expecting our first child. We are homeless. A kind believer is letting us rest in his house during nights for now.” Morning Star News reports that Shibin Thomas, founder of Persecution Relief, which assists persecuted Christians, confirmed that hardline Hindus set the structures ablaze. The young men who allegedly set the fire were identified only as Madhivannan, Mani-

maaran, Radha Krishnan, Sarangamani and Naveen, a local official told Pastor Muller. All five of the alleged assailants were said to be influenced by Hindu extremist groups. The pastor said the official told him that he, the village council head, had prior knowledge that the young men were planning to set the fire and tried to deter them, but that he did not notify police due to caste and family loyalties.

For the same reason, the village head did not tell media and remained unavailable for comment. Morning Star News reported that on the day of the attack the pastor received a call from a shopkeeper in nearby Chidambaram saying that Vacation Bible School materials he had ordered were ready. When he and his wife went to collect them, he said, the young men set fire to his church building and home.

On his way back to Attipattu, Pastor Muller received a call from a neighbor that the church building and his house had been on fire for more than two hours. Upon arrival, he called the fire station in Chidambaram, 17 kilometers (10 miles) away, and firefighters put out the fire. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed in Kumaratchi Police Station dated May 3, but there has been no progress in the investigation, Pastor Muller said “The police took money from the attackers and went on leave,” he said. Morning Star News attempted to call the police officer who took the complaint, but she was unavailable for comment on the case and the accusation. Eight years ago, when the worship center was under construction, 50 people

attacked the pastor and told him to stop building in the village, pastor Arun Kumar of a nearby village, told Morning Star News. “They also cut off electricity wiring and created many problems,” Pastor Kumar said. Pastor Muller said he did not file a complaint at the time. “I always thought I shouldn’t complain against them to the officials,” he said. “Instead, I wanted to let things go peacefully and do the Lord’s work, but now they’ve destroyed everything.” Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took power in May 2014, the hostile tone of his National Democratic Alliance government, led by the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), against non-Hindus has emboldened Hindu extremists in several parts of the country to attack Christians, religious rights advocates say, according to the Morning Star News report. The news agency said India ranked 15th on Christian support organization Open Doors’ 2017 World Watch List of the countries where Christians experience the most persecution. By Madeline Duffan y Dear Reverend: I have often thought that there was always ‘something more’.

One of my favorite children’s stories was the ‘Velveteen Rabbit’. He was loved up and used up till he became real. That’s what I meant. I wanted all the superficial stuff in my life to be burned up, so the real me could shine forth. I still feel that way…even though I’m older now, there is ‘something more.’ Some people don’t understand, but I feel that I have not accomplished enough for the Lord. I guess you could say that I am driven by a higher call. I am not satisfied. Restless

your life, you can’t be satisfied until it is fulfilled. Here’s the thing: you have to know God’s timing, or you will go too fast or too slow and be out of His will. Perfect peace will enter your spirit when God turns you and directs you. Feeling anxious is not from Him. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Phil. 4:6. There are many instances when I have tried to make something happen, but I was the only one trying. The people around me were not interested in my vision. I made mistakes… God did not tell me how to go about it…I thought I knew. I used up my own steam trying to do it, which only led to frustration. The calling is there! It won’t go away! “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

The legacy of a modern-day book of Acts Missionary persevering against monumental odds, being arrested for his faith and healed from incurable disease

GREECE -- Costas Macris was more than a faithful missionary serving the Lord in the remote jungles of Papua New Guinea and later the classical homeland of Greece. His was an extraordinary life that touched the lives of scores of individuals across the globe. This well-researched book (If I Had Two Lives, Clover Croft Publishing) takes you from the land of his birth in Greece to his student days in Canada and then to the huge challenge of a pioneering missionary in PNG. After 16 years persevering against monumental odds Costas and his wife Alky and their 6 children then faced their biggest hurdle when Costas was pronounced terminally ill. Author Dan Vorm grippingly portrays the drama of being uprooted from their missionary calling to

the jungle territory and his subsequent miraculous healing whilst back in St Louis, Missouri waiting to die. After being denied permission to return to Irian Jaya because of health concerns, they were faced with a new test. It seemed the logical option to return to their homeland of Greece and to establish a new mission to Greece. But a new firestorm awaited them. Not long after their return to Greece, Costas and two YWAM missionaries were arrested for proselytism and sentenced to lengthy terms of imprisonment. The news spread around the world like wildfire and the reaction caused ripples of protest from many different quarters. They were released on appeal and eventually the original sentence was overturned. When Costas eventually died in 2007 he left a lega-

Counselor’s Corner: DON’T WORRY, BE HAPPY!

“Here’s a little song I wrote. You might want to sing it note for note. Don’t worry, be happy. In every life we have some trouble. But when you worry you make it double. Don’t worry, be happy. Don’t worry, be happy now.” You may have heard that popular tune sung by Bobby McFerrin way back in 1989. If not, do a search on You Tube and listen to it. It was the pop song of the year. Sadly, the message of happiness today has been weakened due the challenging times we live in. Many believe it is almost impossible to be happy.

Some would be satisfied by just being at peace. Others have resolved that all they can do is to cope with their unhappiness, and some hope that the times they live in with poor personal relationships or the world they live in will someday get better. Sadly, many have lost hope completely. These are the negative choices we make instead of pursuing happiness in ways many of us never believed could happen. Previous articles I have written are based on themes of personal growth and emotional healing. These articles stress that

the real victory and freedom we want to experience can only come from receiving and walking in the Love of God and by using His Holy Scriptures to guide us. We can experience happiness in the same way. My favorite scripture relating to this is Mark 12:29-31. “AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.’ The second is this, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ There

Huckabee’s commentary on newsof-the-day and current issues, along with guests from the worlds of politics, entertainment and faith. The program will follow a similar format from his fan-favorite Fox News Channel talk show of the same title, which aired on the network from

His is a welcome voice of wisdom, integrity, and faith that America sorely needs right now.” “TBN is the perfect home for this new television of fering,” says Huckabee. “I

am grateful to Matt Crouch for sharing the vision of a weekend destination on TV where we talk to newsmakers and celebrities in a civil and respectful manner as well as introduce America to some notso-famous people whose stories remind us that the greatness of our nation is about the people who love God, raise their families, and serve their neighbors.” One of the nation’s foremost Christian and political voices, Gov. Huckabee has built a career as a public servant and as a strong spokesman for faith and family values. This scripture show us how by loving God, loving your neighbor and as you learn to love yourself you now meet the three basic needs of positive self-worth. Following are a few pointers to help us achieve this kind of true happiness. 1. Glorify Jesus as a daily commitment. Pray that God will use you to honor others as a way of glorifying Him. Pray for self-control to overcome temptations and be quick to ask for forgiveness when you do make mistakes. Learn to see yourself as Christ sees you and how He is quick to forgive you and to learn not to be so critical of yourself. 2. Get rid of grudges every day. My counseling mentor advised me that if I am hurt by someone, to forgive them then ask the Lord show me what I needed to learn from the situation and how I needed to change and grow. It helped me not only in

Family Research Council Praises KY Court of Appeals Ruling in Favor of Christian Shop Owner

WASHINGTON,/PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Kentucky Court of Appeals ruled today that Blaine Adamson, owner of Hands on Originals, has the freedom to decline orders that force him to promote messages contrary to his faith. In 2012, the Kentucky shop owner was targeted by a city commission after turning down a job to print rainbow t-shirts for a local gay pride parade. At the time, the Commission’s Executive Director, Raymond Sexton, infamously said it’s time for Christians in the marketplace “to leave their religion at home.” Family Research Council President Tony Perkins released the following statement: “We are pleased to learn today that the Kentucky Court of Appeals has an understanding that the

documented. The World Bank estimates that approximately 400 million children worldwide – more than the entire U.S. population – live in pronounced poverty. Millions of these children don’t have access to adequate footwear resulting in significant ramifications for their health and well-being. Lacking proper footwear, countless children will not be able or permitted to attend school. And tens of millions of these poverty-stricken, barefoot boys and girls will be infected with soil-transmitted parasitic diseases like hookworm, causing lasting suffering and lifelong debilitation. “The simple truth is that almost anyone with a closet has shoes they don’t wear, or an old pair that will just end up in a landfill,” said Bishop Joseph W. Walker III. “Give those to us, and know that you are taking a step to making the world a better place for all of us.” For more information, log onto http://www.fullgospelconference.org/soles4souls/. +++

‘Faithkeepers’: The Groundbreaking Movie Demanding Action on Christian Persecution By Michael Ireland

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA “America will stand by followers of Christ in this hour of need,” US Vice President Mike Pence told the World Summit in Defense of Persecuted Christians on Thursday, May 11. “Our administration is fully committed in bringing relief and comfort to believers, not only across the Middle East but across the world.” People from 130 countries were represented at the summit, which was organized by evangelist Franklin Graham and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

So what is happening to Christians around the world that is worrying so many people? Clarion Project’s new film Faithkeepers uncovers the horrific reality faced by so many simply for being who they are. “In the Middle East, the birthplace of Christianity, Christians and other minorities are being violently persecuted, driven out of their homes, and killed” the Faithkeepers team says. “Their places of worship are being destroyed, and their history is being erased.” Across the world, but particularly in the Middle East, Christians and other religious minorities are persecuted for their faith. Most of this persecution is meted out at the hands of radical Islam, although by no means all of it. In Iraq and Syria, ravaged by war, Christians, Yazidis and other minority groups are suffering grievously

under the yoke of terrorist groups like the Islamic State. Christian communities that fall under their control are given a simple choice: convert to Islam, pay the jizya, a humiliating protection tax, or die. Thousands of Yazidi women and girls were kidnapped into sex slavery and sold in the markets of Mosul and Raqqa. They have suffered unimaginably. “Faithkeepers gives face and voice to the humanitarian crisis and genocide affecting millions in the Middle East as a result of religious and ethnic persecution,” the Faithkeepers team added. “The film is a testament to the stories of the persecuted and an in spiring portrait of the human spirit. Faithkeepers – the movie and movement – will awaken, enlighten and inspire all people of faith to stand up and take action.” Ryan Mauro is www.Clari-

Gods Amazing Grace in action By Pastor Luz Rillo

This is an amazing story about GERMAR Bernalez (Egay) who is deaf and had the reputation of being a thief. He was not part of our master list. He just walked in not knowing it was the Lord leading him. Sis Evelyn warned me that he steals and no one wants him inside their house or compound.

I asked Evelyn if we could have him in to give him a chance as he also deserves the opportunity to receive eternal life. She agreed so Egay began attending daily classes even though he could not hear. Then I discovered he could read! Using pen and paper, I explained to him Jesus came to save him. He then accepted his salvation by grace through faith in Jesus. Hallelujah! What value he added to this mission trip! Egay made it all the way through the program and graduated with the rest of the children.

Many believers choose to remain for the sake of sharing the Gospel as Fighting reignites in the Philippines

BRADENTON FLORIDA | FREE - Donations Welcome!

Philippines (MNN) — Just when it seemed like things were settling down in the Philippines, conflict between government soldiers and ISIS-linked fighters reignited. On Thursday, the Philippine army launched an air strike in the southern city of Marawi to flush out up to 40 fighters hiding in the city. At least 20 people have been killed in the conflict, including soldiers, police officers, and civilians. “I really don’t know how it will go on,” Herman Moldez, the Philippines Country Director for Asian Access, says. “I think this is the reason why the president declared martial law, so that he can really pursue them very well.”

Fighting erupted Tuesday after a failed attack on the hideout of Isnilon Hapilon, the leader of the terrorist group Abu Sayaaf, which has pledged allegiance to ISIS. Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte declared martial law the same day for the southern island of Mindanao. Wednesday saw a brief lull in the fighting, which the majority of Marawi’s 200,000 residents saw as an opportunity to leave the city. But despite the situation’s uncertainty, many believers are choosing to remain for the sake of sharing the Gospel. “I think the situation as far as the spread of the Gospel just continues on,” Moldez says.

“Those who are in the mission activity and the church activity, they’re just continuing on as if nothing is happening because this is not widespread; this is localized and contained.” Not everyone, however, including believers, are on the same page regarding the government’s tactics. “The reactions and responses are not united as far as the believers are concerned,” Moldez says. “So those of us who are staying in Luzon and the Basilan island would be different in our responses compared to those who are actually living in Mindanao. The overwhelming things we are hearing from the Mindanao believers,

they welcome the creation of martial law. “So what we need to pray for is more unity among us, and that we will be more discerning in terms of trying to understand the situation. You know, there are many things being posted in the social media. That requires a lot of discernment. Continue to pray for safety and that this will not escalate to more violence and so on.” Moldez also asks that you

pray that churches in the Philippines would be watchful as to how martial law progresses in the country, and that everyone, including God’s people, would be kept safe. “This is not politically motivated,” Moldez says. “This is just to respond to this terrorist attack. And that’s why even Congress is not taking this discussion. But we need to watch that, because the president is saying he may declare martial [law] to the entire island, the whole Philip

Mark 4:26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;

pines. “So we need wisdom to be watchful and vigilant, to be prayerful of course and continue to pray that there would not be any attack to churches that will create another reaction and the whole situation would be out of control.” Mission Network News, c/o OneWay Ministries 4170 Ogden Ave Aurora IL 60504 USA +++
