Assist News – Sept 2019The warriors from the Skull Splitter tribe walked 10 days on foot from a village deep in the Amazon jungle because they wanted to find someone who would tell them about the Son of God. “They sent out five guys,” says Larry Buckman, a veteran missionary with Renew Outreach. “The old men in the tribe said they
were too old to go, so they sent the young guys out. “Why did they decide to trek 10 days straight north to find somebody? They had no way of knowing there was anybody even up there. Of course the Holy Spirit was leading them.” The Yanomami group that walked out of the jungle were among the worst Skull Splitters in the entire Amazon, from the Hakoma area, according to Larry. While there were a few Yanomami believers, the Hakoma area was unreached. Fifty-five years earlier, two missionaries named Bob and Steve had attempted to take the gospel to them. When Bob and Steve first went to the Hakoma area in the Sixties they reported that almost everyone was drugged, they had unsightly green mucous coming out of their noses, and they were vomiting all the time. “At night they would get possessed by demons, they would beat up on their wives and split their heads open with their clubs. “The tradition was if a girl was going to get married to another man, the oldest man in the tribe had her
first. If she let the young man have her first, they beat up on her,” Bob reported to Larry. “They almost killed us then,” Bob said. The five warriors arrived at the Palimi-ú River in September, 2012 after their 10-day journey. They happened to enter a village where two Brazilian Christians, Paul and Bethany had been living for 14 years, learning the language and translating the New Testament. Remarkably, the five arrived at the height of a celebration by the local church that involved food, dances, the Lord’s Supper and baptisms.
The believers immediately recognized them as the dreaded Skull Splitters, enemies of the village. The warriors were dressed in loincloths, armed with bows and arrows, blowguns and deadly poison

darts. The celebratory mood suddenly shifted. Are they going to kill us? they wondered. Surprisingly, the five got into the baptism line with 32 other new believers. “I did not ask if they wanted Jesus; I baptized the five along with the others,” Paul recounted. He and Bethany invited the warriors into their house and spent the next five hours talking to them. The men explained the reason they had traveled such a distance. “We are tired of living the way we have always lived,” they told Paul and Bethany. “We have been killing people and drugging ourselves. We want to live a different life. Somebody told us about the Son of God. Do you
know who that is?” Paul told them about the Creator God—the Father, Jesus the Savior, and the Holy Spirit, the friend, comforter and guide. “We saw their eyes sparkle with wonder about everything we said,” Paul recounted. After several days, Paul asked an MAF pilot to fly the men back to their village. “There was only one MAF pilot who dared to go in there,” Larry notes. The pilot managed to locate a small opening in the jungle, an old gold miner’s airstrip that was very short and overgrown, but it was still a four-day journey through thick jungle for the warriors to reach their home. Before they left the men... Continuation on Page: 4

Spirit Of Truth
Dear Reverend,
I have been a Christian for 30 plus years and it seems so difficult at times to move forward into dreams and visions that I have. I know that God places them into my heart. It seems that people I have trusted and the enemy, the devil, are trying to stop me! I pray, read the Word, and try to live a lifestyle that is moral and righteous. The devil compares the world to my faith-walk. He magnifies the prosperity of others and also their worldly happiness. Knowing the difference, I refuse to retreat, but the setbacks and

disappointments prevail. Please pray for me! Mildred in Massachusetts ---Dear Mildred: I thank God for a sister in the Lord! Let me share a great teaching that I heard from a pastor from the Bahamas. Since I have been having the same struggles, this is very timely. Genesis 26:14: Isaac digged again the old wells and called the by the names given to them by Abraham. The servants uncovered a well named “Esek”, which means contention or strife. This well was also then
taken away by the enemy. So Isaac dug again andnamed this well, “Sitnah”, which means opposition or accusation. He also lost this to the enemy. Genesis 26:2: Isaac removed himself from that place and dug another well, which he named “Rehoboth”. This name means “room”. It was in a fertile valley! This was the Abrahamic Covenant confirmed in Isaac. Genesis 26:23-33: “And the Lord appeared unto Isaac in Beersheba and said, ‘I am the God of Abraham, thy father; fear not, for I am with thee, and I will bless thee and

That morning meteorologists recorded sustained winds of 175 mph and gusts as high as 220 mph. It was at this point that Florida Governor Rick Scott called for a state of emergency. While Governor Scott was in the process of preparing 7,000 rescue workers to help with the damage we would see in Florida, Irma was pummeling through Barbuda, Saint Maarten and the Virgin Islands, destroying nearly everything in its path. As Floridians watched the news coverage of what was happening in these islands, panic began to set in. This panic led to a record 6.5 million people hitting the highways to seek refuge in northern states. For those of us that decided to stay and “hunker down,” the concerns grew as Irma moved through

The story goes on to say that the ones who hated Isaac began to come to him, saying, “We certainly see that the Lord is with you!” In conclusion, we need to keep “digging”! It’s a New Season and time for Changes! We must keep moving forward, never looking back. What an exciting time it is, knowing that God’s mercy, grace, forgiveness, and direction are alive and well! Let us Never Forget What He did for us in The Miracle of Irma By Chris Vercelli
Bradenton, FL Sept 2018 - In late August of 2017, the world was alerted to a massive hurricane that was about to make landfall in Texas. Hurricane Harvey, whose name means “battle ready”, struck land on August 25th and became one of the most destructive storms to ever hit the U.S. In the days that followed, many of us all over the country watched hours and hours of news coverage showing Harvey’s widespread devastation. Houses were flooded. Cars were flooded. Neighborhoods were destroyed. Dead bodies were seen floating on the flood waters. It was heart wrenching to see. Shortly after Harvey began its tear through Texas, the world was alerted to another storm that was beginning to form in the Atlantic. They called this one Hurricane Irma, whose name means “goddess of war.” Over the next few days the
including some that I know, were already talking about evacuating. By September 4th, Irma had strengthened to a category 4 hurricane and was already being called a “monster storm” by meteo-

the western islands. Puerto Rico, the Bahamas and Cuba all took a massive blow. During this time Irma’s winds were clocked over Category 5 levels for 60 straight hours, making it the second longest category 5 streak in history. Floridians everywhere were wondering if we would be destroyed next. Thankfully, Florida has a lot of praying people. One prayer group that I was part of met nightly for conference calls and each night we’d see up to 500 people gather to pray and repent on behalf of the people in Florida. The presence of God was heavy during these calls. Personally, I was going through some repentance as well. Although I consider myself a devoted follower of Jesus, when I reflected on the scriptures and biblically judged the righteousness of every thought, every action and every motive of my heart, I couldn’t help but conclude that I didn’t deserve any-
thing better than what all those victims in Texas got. In fact, the very thought of going to the judgement seat and giving an account for all these things brought on the strongest and most holy fear of God I have felt in 12 years of being a Christian. This dramatically intensified my desire to intercede. Two nights before Irma hit Florida, I was in my bed literally trembling at the holiness of God. Everything in my heart and my life was being put through the refiner’s fire. I began to confess unforgiveness, selfish motives, greed, word curses, complaining, and all my other shortcomings that the Holy Spirit was bringing to my mind. As I did this, I felt a deep cleansing taking place in my soul. My body continued to tremble dramatically for close to two hours. Suddenly, at nearly 2 in the morning, an intense
peace came over me and I was stilled by the presence of God. As I laid in bed, overwhelmed by the weight of this encounter, I heard the Holy Spirt say “everyone is going to be surprised.” Not knowing exactly what He meant, I didn’t want to say anything to anyone about my experience. Nevertheless, after that night, I felt much more at ease. When Irma made landfall in the Florida Keys on September 10th, it had winds over 130 mph. The meteorologists warned us that as it came off the keys, the warm waters of the gulf could intensify it even more before it made landfall on the Florida peninsula. Floridians everywhere waited anxiously, wondering if we would end up like Cuba, Puerto Rico, Barbuda and all the other places Irma destroyed. What we saw next surprised us all. When Irma made landfall.. Continuation on Page: 8

Counselor’s Corner:
WHO ARE WE? PART 3
Email: Louise.alleva@gmail.com
We all are created as humans, male and female but we were also created by God to fit His plan of individuals coming together as one body doing the work of the Kingdom on Earth as in 1 Corinthians 12:18-26. It’s essential we understand the differences within each one of us and that we all were born with strengths and weaknesses. The Bible says this is what makes harmony among the members so that we all can care for each other. In my studies of Christian counseling I found the revelation of how unique we really are. It was fascinating to realize how God created us so differently
and His plan to create people who fit the best in the destinies He had for us. Mankind has put a name to this kind of human development called the temperament. There are four basic temperaments. The concept was originally developed around 400 BC by a Greek physician and philosopher, Hippocrates. He realized that there are basically four types of people known and named each one based on how they relate to the world around them. The Choleric, Melancholy, Phlegmatic, and Sanguine. I want to stress that we may have a combination

of temperaments and we have weakness and strengths and no one temperament is better than the other. This article about helping us understand how we act and react to each other differently and that we are uniquely created. The following is an overview of the original four temperaments that will offer some insight on our Creator’s design for us. 1. Sanguine - This one we all would like to be best friends with, at first. A sanguine is a fun-loving extrovert who has a capacity to enjoy life and themselves in it. They have an outgoing nature and love to be in a room full of peo-
ple. They are the life of the party and never lack friends. They become very stressed if they cannot be around people and have lots of friends. They can make a person feel important as a very special friend until they meet the next person who also receives the same attention. They may forget promises, appointments and obligations and are not the loyal, best buddy we might want in them. They are best with careers that allow them extensive exposure to people and can have the chance to make others happy. 2. Choleric – This temperament is often self-sufficient and independent. They tend to be opinionated, and decisive and likes to make decisions for themselves and others. They are determined to succeed and pushes ahead where other people get discouraged and quit. But they do not sympathize easily with others or show much compassion. Love is not usually a high priority for them. They are looking for opportunities and ways to succeed. They use
Disconnect Between Trump’s Sovereignty Message and State Department Promotion of LGBT By Stefano Gennarini, J.D.
NEW YORK, September 28 (C-Fam) U.S. President Donald Trump’s message to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday started where he left off last year, insisting on sovereignty as the bedrock of U.S. foreign policy and the only legitimate foundation for international cooperation. “That is why America will always choose independence and cooperation over global governance, control, and domination,” he said, openly rebutting statements and pleas of world leaders for America to give up sovereign prerogatives to UN entities. And the President once again made assurances that he was not interested in using U.S. foreign policy as a tool for social engineering in other countries, as the Obama administration did to promote international acceptance of homosexuality and abortion rights. “I honor the right of every nation in this room to pursue its own customs, beliefs,
and traditions. The United States will not tell you how to live or work or worship. We only ask that you honor our sovereignty in return,” he promised world leaders. The promise is no doubt welcome to many UN member states who were pressured by the Obama administration to accept homosexuality internationally through UN resolutions. But just hours after Trump promised to honor countries’ traditions and cultures, the U.S. backed an event promoting international LGBT rights in the conference room immediately under the General Assembly Hall. Both the Secretary General António Guterres and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet delivered remarks at the event embracing a broad LGBT agenda, that goes beyond preventing violence against individuals who identify as LGBT.

The event was ostensibly about ending “extrajudicial killings,” something all member states condemn univocally. But Bachelet said it was necessary to end “every kind” of discrimination against individuals who identify as LGBT and applauded the Supreme Court of India for striking down the nations’ sodomy laws earlier this month. She called on states to track LGBT hate crimes and said they would be held responsible for the actions of non-state actors also. It was not clear from her statement if this might also apply to religious groups that teach their adherents that homosexual acts are immoral. The UN Rapporteur on extrajudicial killings, Columbia University Professor Agnes Callamard, was

also invited by the LGBT Core Group to speak. She said the failure of states to provide individuals who identify as LGBT with specifically tailored welfare services could also result in an “extrajudicial killing.” “Arbitrary deprivations of life may be linked to states’ negligence in providing basic conditions and services that guarantee life,” she said, lamenting the high rates of homelessness, prostitution, and HIV/ AIDS among individuals who identify as LGBT. The event was sponsored by the “LGBT Core Group,” which the Obama administration joined in its first term. The U.S. is still a member of the group composed of 24 states, two LGBT groups that are critics of President Trump,... Continuation on Page: 8
people to help them succeed and have a strong intuition in how to place the right person to help them meet the Choleric’s goals. They make good surgeons, inventors, dentists, business owners, and pastors who are dynamic teachers, less emotional and strong leadership abilities. 3. Melancholy – This one is often referred to as the “dark” temperament, but it is the richest of all four. They are analytical, self-sacrificing, gifted, perfectionist with a very sensitive emotional nature. They tend to be introverts. They have strong mood swings from being super high like an extrovert, to dark gloomy, depression. Melancholies will not pursue meeting people but let people come to them. They are the most dependable as their perfectionistic tendencies will now allow themselves to let others down. Generally, they have the higher IQ, are more creative and produces high quality, perfect work. Many Melancholies either are in the arts or in professions that provide a
meaningful service to humanity. They make good pastors, teachers and have a desire to help others. 4. Phlegmatic - Life for Phlegmatics is a happy, unexcited, pleasant experience which they avoid as much involvement as possible. They are calm, easy going and seldom explode in anger or hearty laughter in order to keep their emotions under control. They enjoy people and have a natural dry sense of humor that others enjoy. They love to poke fun at other temperament types but are natural peacemakers and work well with others and are content with a simple life-style. This is just a light overview of the original four temperaments. I pray it helps each one of us understand that we all see, feel, act based on how we are created. We are all very special, unique and special children of God. Blessings and Love, Louise Alleva, D.Min, LCPC. CTC Louise.alleva@gmail.com

The Department of Health and Human Services Ends FDA Contract using
Taxpayer monies to purchase aborted baby parts for experimentation
ALPHARETTA, Ga., Sept. 26, 2018 /Christian Newswire/ -- On Monday, September 24th, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that it terminated the contract between the FDA and Advance Bioscience Resources (ABR), which allocated taxpayer money to purchase “fresh” aborted fetal body parts for experimentation. As part of the groundswell of opposition that rose up from exposure of this relationship, Personhood Alliance and Citizen Go hand-delivered nearly 16,500 petition signatures to key leaders in DC and sent 18,000 emails directly to HHS Secretary Alex Azar. In an official statement, the HHS announced the contract termination as a first step and promised to: Audit all of its current contracts with other vendors. Audit all research projects involving aborted fetal tissue. Seek, fund, and accel-
erate ethical alternatives. This decision comes on the heels of Congressional Republicans’ use of the defense spending bill to continue to fund aborted fetal research through the National Institutes of Health-almost $100 million taxpayer dollars per year. While HHS can control contracts and regulations, Congress is ultimately responsible for the legalization and funding of aborted fetal research. “The 18,000 personhood supporters who signed our petition rejoice at the bold action taken by the administration and demand that Congress start doing its part to defend life,” says Gualberto Garcia Jones, VP and National Policy Director of Personhood Alliance. “It is unacceptable for Congress to continue rubber-stamping the Democrats’ agenda. If Republicans want the pro-life vote,” warns Jones, “They’ll have to earn it. If not, good riddance in November.”

Changing the Destiny for victims
by Steve Rees Assist News Service – Sept 2018- When young women, suffering from sex trafficking, come to this prayer room in a brothel, the Word of God reminds them of His promises. Glancing at three Bible verses on a chalkboard and her smooth-skinned face, I heard the Lord say, “Tell her I see only her purity and innocence. In a brothel of all places, I determined to obey the voice of the Lord.” A man – standing in one of the world’s largest redlight districts – I spoke the words “purity and innocence” over a very young woman in her late teens, maybe early 20s, who was seated before me in a brothel. In a tiny room with a twin bed, the soft face beamed, revealing a smile to me and eight others who nodded agreement with the words I spoke. Two teammates from my church stood on either side of me. Our team comprised of two men and four women – all from the United States – traveled over 8,000 miles to India. On

this day, our guide led us down narrow, clogged streets lined with vendors and their wares. Having been the victim of sex trafficking years ago, she knew the territory. I was careful to keep my gaze fixed on her until our group reached its destination on the second floor of a large building. We arrived at a well-hidden house of prayer located up several flights of steep, short, stair steps. Though modest, the prayer room is a spiritual oasis for girls and young women trapped in sex trafficking. The Changing Destiny Project We were guests of Changing Destiny Project (CDP), a non-profit organization committed to helping women and children – girls and boys – find freedom from sex trafficking. They provide food, shelter, and education. CDP’s reach extends from the largest cities in India, Nepal and Bangladesh to its hostels and a school many miles away from traffickers.
The founders of CDP insist on personal anonymity and ask their guests to refrain from identifying the locations of its hostels and schools for girls and boys in photos, stories or on social media. Our team similarly agreed to protect the identities of guides in the red-light district. My team visited the house of prayer on day two of our mission to the brothels. Another team consisting of two women and one man from Rez Church trekked up the same steep staircase 24 hours earlier, finding intense spiritual warfare around the prayer room. One of the young women who came for prayer bolted from the room after complaining of nightmares. That night one of our teammates dreamed she was aboard a train that careened off its rails and down a steep cliff. With space for only a few plastic chairs and a bed, the prayer room is surrounded above, below and on its sides with other rooms for the girls and women who “work” in the

building. Each building houses 50 to 70 rooms. Opposite a chalkboard with Psalm 23, Philippians 4:4-7 and 1 Peter 3:34 written on it is a rustic, wood cross hanging on one of the prayer-room’s four walls. The girls and young women come to the house of prayer with fears, sicknesses, pains, demonic torments, sorrows and, surprisingly, with joy and praise in their hearts and on their lips – a spirit the enemy of souls hates. They reported feeling better after our team prayed for relief from leg and hip pain, burning sensations in hands and feet, stomach and chest discomfort and, for the young woman who ran from the house of prayer, for deliverance from tormenting nightmares. Some reflect “a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.” The Apostle Peter’s words in 1 Peter 3:3-4 are directed to wives, yet the girls and young women who come to the prayer room – trafficked for the base ple-

communion, using “the Beijú of cassava and the juice of Açai.” On November 12th, the team began discussing the idea of planting a church. They had many newly baptized converts, but few mature leaders to stay with them. “We needed to do something, so we choose the five that I had baptized in 2012 as their leaders in the faith,” Paul recounted. In 2014 the team returned to the village, bringing solar audio bibles and a small solar projector with the JESUS Film in the Chamatari language. Eighteen villages within a 10-day walk were invited to the screening. Every night they projected the movie JESUS. At the end of the visit they donated the solar projector and the five leaders said they would take the film and show it in “surrounding villages.” There was regular follow-up with the believers every year. Three years later, the film had reached 4,600 peo-
ple in 21 remote villages. “They report there are now believers in every region, in places where we are not allowed to go,” Bethany noted. “The warriors are doing what we can’t. We are living a true revival in the heart of the jungle!” The original missionary to the Yanomami in the Hakoma area, Bob, is amazed by what he sees. “I can’t believe what is happening now!” he exclaimed. “When you see those kind of things you think, Lord, you are so gracious to let us be here and see these things happen,” says Larry Buckman, with Renew Outreach. “These old guys sacrificed everything and they deserved to see it in their lifetime. It is amazing to see how God has transformed that tribe and somehow is protecting those dear men that truck up and down to take the gospel to the next group of people.” “There are 200 Yanomami villages that we know of. They plan to take the gospel to every one of those 200.”

tribe in the Amazon
...begged Paul and Bethany to come to their village soon and tell their people more about Jesus. Months went by and God continued to impel their hearts about reaching the Yanomami in the Hakoma area. In early 2013, Paul and Bethany began to plan an expedition to find their village. “It was a time of much prayer seeking the direction of God,” Paul recounted. A couple months later, they received news that members of the same tribe had exterminated an entire village of other Yanomamis whom they considered to be enemies. Then in October they learned that 46 gold miners had been killed in that region – also by the same tribe! “Eighteen days after this massacre, on November 9, 2013, we were inside a small plane going in search of this people,” Paul recounted. “Many said do not go, others called us saying ‘this is suicide,’ ‘they are too dangerous.’” After two hours in the air, their pilot found the same airstrip. The missionary
expedition group included Paul, Bethany, and three other mature Yanomami believers that spoke different languages. “We did not know for sure what awaited us; we were fearful, very afraid, but confident in the care of God.” The small plane deposited the passengers and left. “As the roar of the airplane engine disappeared on the horizon, fear and dread filled our hearts. We were literally alone, isolated and left in the dense jungle.” They realized they were in the same place the miners had been killed only a few weeks earlier! The only answer was to turn to God in prayer. Just as they started to pray, they heard a noise in the woods. “When we raised our heads we saw the most incredible scene. We were surrounded by men, women and children, armed with bows and arrows, blowguns and poison darts, but also rifles, cartridges, watches, tablets, cell phones and a lot of clothes from the miners that they had killed 18 days before us.” Paul snapped a quick photo with his digital camera,
but forgot to turn off the flash. Interpreting the flash as a hostile sign, the crowd began walking towards the missionaries and lifted their weapons in a menacing fashion. “They took aim. I thought our time had come…” Paul recounted. Then a lone voice shouted from the midst of the crowd. “Stop! Stop! Today is not a day of death.” Another cried out, “Do not hurt them. These are the ones who say there is a True Creator.” Out from the crowd stepped the five warriors that Paul baptized the previous year. As quickly as the large crowd appeared, they disappeared, leaving the same five warriors who now approached with smiles on their faces. “We saw in their eyes the joy with our arrival,” Paul recounted. After the tension receded, Paul communicated via satellite to the believers along the Palimi-ú River and two more planeloads arrived, bearing 10 more Yanomami believers. The five led the new arriv-
als along a path and after 20 minutes they found a large structure with a crowd waiting for them. On the afternoon of November 9, 2013, the 15 took turns preaching, teaching, and telling Bible stories, and the people listened with rapt attention about the history of the Creator. Paul delivered the message that Jesus, the Son of God, was already among the Yanomamis. “Everyone was so stunned by what they heard that they began singing the message back and forth, their traditional way to spread news,” Bethany recalled. “Night after night people were repenting, sometimes going until 5:00 in the morning. This went on day and night. I answered so many questions and at the end we held another baptism. More than 400 Skull Splitters came to Christ!” Paul and the other leaders went to a small river nearby and baptized 162 new brothers, then ministered

Throughout the year, teams like ours from Rez Church comes to serve and care for the children. One of the largest churches in America, for example, provides medical missions trips to CDP’s projects in the red-light district and at its school and hostels. CDP welcomes opportunities to host other churches. Our team was inspired by the prayer room and beauty shop, but the ladies were particularly eager to meet the children and rescued women who care for them. Suitcases filled with pajamas, Tootsie pops, pencils, coloring books and crayons awaited them. We boarded a plane for an unknown destination, excited at prospects of playing games, sharing testimonies, Bible stories and gifts with the girls and boys. We were overwhelmed by their love for the guests from Colorado. What we received exceeded our wildest imaginations. The children – with hearts of worshipers like King David – performed biblical-themed dramas and led our team into the presence of the Lord with their heartfelt praise and dance.
They were eager to receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit and spoke in heavenly languages as we laid hands on and prayed for them. About 30 boys and 70 girls rescued from brothels or from being trafficked in India’s largest cities, Nepal and Bangladesh attend CDP’s school and live in separate dormitories where house parents look after the children, ranging in age from 3 to 12. Some of the house moms and staff were trafficked and were themselves, traffickers, giving them extreme compassion and understanding for the children. .. observed an example of this on our first visit to the red-light district, the day before our hike up to the prayer room. Our guide was a pastor’s wife who, for years, attempted different outreaches to the brothels but discovered – through trial and error – that prayer is the most effective and needed ministry. At least four women who were gravely ill with HIV/AIDS are now in perfect health, and attend church. Though CDP is a non-profit, it partners with churches and believers with firsthand experience in the red-light district. We stopped at a white, iron-gated door while residents of the brothel sized up the strangers standing in the street. My female teammates were dressed in Indian garb, sarees; I, on the other hand, stuck out like a sore thumb in jeans and athletic shoes. At last the gate swung open and our group stepped in. Inside we discovered a
beauty shop that is as well-hidden as the prayer room. It’s a classroom for girls and young women learning to do hair and nails. We met two girls – one who was learning the basics of pedicure from an instructor who was trafficked years ago. A beauty shop in one of the world’s largest brothels is a classroom for girls and young women who want to acquire skills in hair and nails. While the girls shared their names, their safety is a concern if they’re identified publicly. When one of the girls learned our team was going to visit CDP’s school and hostels many miles from the beauty shop, her excitement popped. “My son is there,” she said, taking a selfie for us to share with him. Though she misses her son, the education and shelter CDP offers is better than what the brothel offers – an endless cycle of trafficking for mothers
and children. Boys, surprisingly, are useful to traffickers in finding men who want sex with their mothers, aunts and sisters. A project of CDP, the beauty shop is in a building owned by a woman with four others – all of them brothels. The owner recently indicated a willingness to lease an entire floor to CDP for a Freedom Business. Opening new employment opportunities to trafficked girls and young women, the Freedom Business will close 14 rooms that are used for “work.” CDP leaders are intrigued by the work of the Los Angeles Dream Center, which provides care for body, soul and spirit through its Bible-based programs. They envision a Dream Center in the heart of the red-light district and plan to meet with LA Dream Center staff to learn from and be encouraged by their success in helping redeem broken lives.
Christian Advertisements Ordered Removed From High School Football End Zones
MADISON, Wis., Sept. 11, 2018 /Christian Newswire/ -- Before a Louisiana high school football game, two Benton High School students were told they had to remove Christian logos from the end zones. The two students left the field and did not help those who removed the logos. The “Christ Fit Gym” logos included a cross and Bible verse. A business, Christ Fit Gym, paid the football booster club $3,500 for the 2018-19 season to display the logos.
In February, Americans United for Separation of Church and State filed a federal lawsuit against the school district. They complained the district promoted Christianity and was trying to convert students. “In the United States, we should rejoice with kids who want to follow Bible standards,” states 4 Winds USA President Steve McConkey. “Instead, we are trying to erase Jesus Christ from our public schools. Recent research says 20%
of students in college have considered suicide. This is not a time to remove God from public schools.” McConkey is the founder and president of 4 Winds USA, a ministry standing up for Christian athletes. He has fought the Freedom From Religion atheists, also located in Madison, Wisconsin, after they attacked top university football teams and other teams in the USA for Christian activity. In 2003, McConkey started fighting the Internatio-

the local language, all of the students speak English and, for some, several others. The students are respectful and eager to learn, knowing education is a key to a brighter future. CDP is so committed to education that it’s building a new school on six acres for 400 rescued children – 200 boy and 200 girls – and eventually, 1,100 students total. Funding comes from generous givers like Rez Church, which provided tens of thousands of dollars to help build the school and dormitories. Its pastor, Jonathan Wiggins, believes caring for and educating orphans is close to the heart of God, and education is a wise investment. CDP partners with donors who want to provide food, shelter and housing through child sponsorship (changingdestinyproject. org). It also solicits support for rescuers, who heroically deliver children from the red-light district and other places where they’re trafficked sexually, or forced to work as slaves. Financial gifts to fund the new school, which will provide education and job training, are needed. www.assistnews.net

The Miracle of Irma
in Marco Island, it had weakened to a category 3. As it made its way up the gulf coast, it began to weaken even more. By the time it reached Sarasota County it was reduced to a category 1 and the eye wall had begun to break apart and travel east. Meteorologists all through Florida were stunned. ABC 7 meteorologist Dennis Phillips was quoted saying, “There is no way to explain how this storm has diminished so quickly, except that a lot of prayers have gone up. 24 hours ago, we were looking at the worst storm in history.” What became known later, was that an interesting phenomenon occurred during the 48 hours preceding Irma’s landfall. All through Florida, temperatures had dropped significantly. In various cities all over the state there were double digit drops in peaktem
perature which produced a slew of cold air. Being that hurricanes thrive on heat and die in cold, it appears this temperature drop may have been the mechanism God used to calm the storm. In Naples for instance, the peak temperature went from 92 to 77 in the 48 hours preceding the storm. Being that this was near where Irma made landfall, this colder air helped weaken Irma upon arrival. As Irma made its way through the state and encountered more and more cold air, it weakened rapidly. Only God could orches trate such a phenomenon. He deserves our praise for the mercy He showed us that day. Yes, there was damage, yes there were power outages and yes there were casualties, but it could have been (and was supposed to be), SO

and the UN human rights office. Though the U.S. has kept a lower profile in the Group since Trump took office, U.S. membership still sends a mixed message. The purpose of the group is to make “sexual orientation and gender identity” categories of international law even though this is a
controversial subject and no binding UN treaty can be fairly read to protect sexual autonomy outside of the context of marriage and family formation. U.S. diplomats will negotiate these issues in a resolution on extrajudicial killings, in coming weeks. The position of U.S. diplomats on the inclusion of “sexual
much worse than it was. When I consider the miracle of Irma, I can’t help but think of the storm that Jesus calmed in Mark Chapter 4. Beginning at verse 37- “there arose a fierce gale of wind and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion and they woke Him” and said to Him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” and He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm.” Based on the context of the earlier verses in this chapter, it appears the storm was in the Mediterranean Sea. Of course, anything could have happened on the waters that day, but something to keep in mind is that in modern history, hurricanes on the Mediterranean Sea are extremely rare. In fact, according to Wikipedia, only about 100 tropical storms formed in the Mediterranean Sea between 1947-2011. Of

these, only a few were rated as hurricanes. All were category 1. Let’s just say for arguments sake, that the storm in the bible was big for that region. Let’s even say that it was as big as the entire nation of Israel. To put it in perspective, Israel is roughly 3 times smaller than the state of Florida and Irma was roughly 2.5 times bigger than the state of Florida. That’s a big difference. When we recognize the size and the intensity of this storm that we all watched God calm before our eyes, my prayer is that we all have a deep sense of thankfulness and a deep and renewed revelation of the mercy of God. Let’s never forget what He did for us that day. It was far better than we deserved. 3 Fingers Cut off with a power saw, Faith put them back on without medical attention! By Alta Oakley, his daughter
“The Faith of our Founding Fore-Fathers”
August Volcik was one of the founding members of Victory New Testament Fellowship in Dallas, TX. His parents migrated here years ago from Czechoslovakia, August being the eldest of the children. His mom was a catholic and his dad was Presbyterian. She actually thought August could not be saved because he was not a catholic. They did read the Bible but due to their diverse denominational affiliations, never attended services. Now when August met his wife, she was an old Pentecostal believer and he would take her and their three children to church, drop them off and return to pick them up. He did not ever attend anything other than a movie or something else while they were in the house of worship. Mr. Volcik was a hard-working man, a builder as well as other enterprises. He was self employed in the Dallas, TX area and busy at work each day. This was a congested area and one of the local policemen would stop by and visit with him regularly. The policeman began to talk to him about church and suggested they attend together. August was quick to proudly share that his wife and family were regular church goers, but he personally did not attend. The friendly policeman was able to get August to agree to attend church with him, but they could not decide which one to go. There was a revival close
by, so they decided to go there. I was seventeen and it was the first time I had ever seen my Dad go to church except for funerals. We all sat together as a family that night in that revival as the preacher preached. When he gave the altar call, my dad was the first one to the front and he got gloriously saved! When we got home that evening, Dad asked Mom where her Bible was and he began to read it. When I say read it, I mean he devoured it reading through it completely. The revival continued the next 30 days and so did Dad. He was there every night. Completed his Bible from Genesis to Revelation within that time and was beginning to quickly mature in the spirit. He soon became a minister and then a Pastor. He founded Frontier Revival Center which is still growing today in Texas. Dad was always a worker, personally and now spiritually. He had a business that made seat covers for cars although he grew up as a builder and carpenter. A friend asked him to help with building his house. Dad agreed and went there on a Saturday to help, about a two-hour drive from his own residence. Since it was a Saturday and he was a pastor that needed to prepare for soon coming Sunday morning, he was hurrying to finish and make the drive home. In his haste he used a large power saw to trim a small board and the board
slipped cutting off three of his fingers on his right hand. Being the man of faith that he was, he quickly commanded the blood to stop and picked up the fingers, wrapped his hand in a handkerchief, and started the two-hour drive home. He is right handed, it was his right hand that was injured, and he was driving a manual transmission car! Arriving home he called to me and told me not to tell Mom anything as he did not want to alarm her. Then he handed me the three severed fingers and proceeded to take the handkerchief off his hand. I asked what do I do Dad? He said wrap it up. He took the fingers and placed them back on his hand and instructed me to tape them each with two pieces of tape, top and bottom. I did as instructed as best I could in the situation. Our neighbor asked him when he was going to take the tape and bandage off and he said in three days. I remember it well, we were with the church folks on the third day and dad proceeded to remove the tape from the fingers. Glory to God, the tape came off, but the fingers stayed on with the whole church watching. He immediately began using his hand and fingers. There was normal feeling in them with no permanent damage. He carried on life as usual knowing His God is greater than anything or anyone. Three months later he helped move a very heavy air con-
ditioner unit out of his friend’s window and load it in a truck with him. Undeterred by satans attempt to cut off his fingers to cripple his right hand. He was a great man of faith and a believer in prayer. He would eagerly pray for the sick when called upon. I remember when he prayed for a lady in prison whom the doctors had removed part of her lung. My Aunt asked Dad to go with her to the prison to pray for this lady and he agreed. How God Miraculously Transformed a Vietnam Village from Drugs, Alcohol and Poverty to Freedom, Prosperity and New Life
By Tom and Huong Marks
This is the story how one very poor village comprised mostly of men who were addicted to drugs for more years than they could remember received the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and changed the lives of those men, and ultimately the entire village. God delivered them from their addictions and transformed that village from poverty to become a productive society in Lai Chau Province, North Vietnam, here is how it happened. Many years ago, a small village in the Ward of Sin Ho was transformed from drug addition, poverty, alcohol, criminal activities and unmentionable other behaviors to the blessings of God the Father through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through the salvation of one man in the village, God saved his family and transformed the whole village into a show place for the Christian faith and the miraculous power of God. The man whose name is Hang A Xa, later became the pastor in the village. The father of Hang A Xa, listening to a Christian broadcast in the Hmong language, heard about Jesus Christ’s love and salvation and about the second coming of Jesus to the earth. The father gave his life to Jesus through the teaching of the gospel through that small radio broadcast sharing Jesus’ message in the Hmong language. When the Lord touched his heart, he immediately called his son, Hang A Xa, who was at that time in fifth grade to come home and receive Jesus too because he thought if Jesus would come back at the coming hours, his son would be left behind. Hang A Xa remembered what his father said about Jesus and His salvation and talked about the whole family accepting Jesus’ salvation. He told about how much they suffered persecution with many trials. Hang said that if those whom they could see and touch arrested them, we would not be afraid of them. Traditionally, we were afraid of ghosts which we could not see, we believed they could come and take us away. Hang’s father was the head of the house so he was arrested and put in chains and suffered punishments by the local policemen, but he refused to renounce his faith in his
new found faith Jesus. Many of the village people came to ask why he was arrested and tortured so much but still not deny his faith in his Lord. His answer, “I believe in Jesus and that I will have eternal life and I will not have to live in the bondage of our old customs and rituals ever again. That is the reason why I will never deny his faith in Jesus”. Hang’s family was transformed; the men gave up alcohol and stopped using drugs and tobacco and stopped Buddha and ancestor worship as well as offering sacrifices to them. It was difficult for Hang’s father to give up opioids after being released from jail but through much prayer and support by Hang and his family, he was delivered from those drugs. Hang then moved on to help the villagers in salvation and deliverance from their many addictions. It was a struggle over a long period of time for the people of the village to overcome their addictions. Nothing was instant, many trials and much dedication to Jesus enabled them to have the victory and strength to brake from their former sins and drugs. As babies in Christ, the many families struggled with their addictions while believing in Jesus and attending worship services. They took their tobacco, opioids and alcohol before these services where they discussed heaven, the second coming of Jesus and studied the bible. During this time, the government persecuted the people of the village to try to bring them back to their former worship practices of Buddha and ancestral worship. As persecution increased more intensely, the villagers had to flee to the forest to escape the government persecutors. During the forest escape, Pastor Hang used this experience to reinforce Christ’s promises to help the men to overcome their addictions and protect them. The young men who overcome addiction worked with Pastor Hang to help the people overcome to victory. His tolerance and patience with the people was an example of how much Christ loved them. Through the grace and power of Jesus Christ, the villagers have all defeated their addic-
tions and have been set free. Pastor Hang also worked with others who have problems with addiction in other villages as well as working with addiction centers in North Vietnam. His love and dedication to Jesus has motivated him to do what he can to give hope to others who have no hope, leading them to Christ and deliverance from addiction. Pastor Hang also made disciples through the young men whom he sent throughout the Province to establish Christ’s message of love and deliverance. He also traveled to China to study the life of Christ for three years to get a good foundation in his faith in Christ. In his discipleship of his family and the brothers and sisters in the village, he found in them a great hunger and dedication to the gospel. He taught the villagers,
Pastor Hang A Xa, left with the team, Vietnam Missions
The village with the orchids that by obeying the words of Jesus, they would have blessings poured out upon them. He taught them also to be an example and how to live in the power and faith of Jesus in their practical life, which would improve their lives and the whole society in the village of Sin Ho. Pastor Hang taught them the basics of Genesis that in the beginning God created the Garden of Eden for men to live in. He said that now wherever Christians live, they must consider their environment like the Eden garden and be responsible to protect and take care of it, not to destroy or damage the garden of God. He taught them this concept to show them how they are to take care and maintain their village and its environment. He taught them the applications of chapter five in
the book of Mathew, that every believer shall be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. The church shall represent their new life in Christ, both spiritually and physically to the world and to everyone around them to glorify Jesus. He applied the book of Mathew in chapter twenty-eight that the believer must be a witness. Hmong people have very little education in addition to still being in poverty. The people wondered how they can go out and witness in this condition. Also, they questioned how could they improve their life in such a poor and remote area in the mountains. God gave them the idea of opening a night market, a most popular custom of the tribal people in Vietnam. The night market opens during the nighttime, from sunset to the
dawn. They believed the market will bring income for the church and the people and would surely improve the economy of the village. Not knowing just how to start, Pastor Hang asked each person of each household to display everything they have from pumpkins, cucumbers, watermelons and any new clothes in addition to chickens, pigs and even old shoes, which they polished before bringing them to the market. They also injected entertainment, singing with drama. These activities started drawing people to the market, which increased by the weeks. It was found that some people walked 20 to 30 miles to the Sin Ho village market. Since the market opened, the life of people in Sin Ho village has improved, getting better and better. Pastor Hang A Xa continues
to bring people together for reading the Bible and hearing the messages. He always reminds everyone not focus on the business of the market so much that they forget the Word of God and the Lord Jesus. The Lord blessed the people of the village in such a way that they now grow a special kind of orchid, which only grows in their area. The orchid does not grow in other places in North Vietnam. It was found in the forest to be very beautiful and came to be very expensive. People from neighboring villages and people from all over the world now come to buy these orchids from Sin Ho village. In 2015, these orchid flowers sold for almost one hundred thousand dollars annually, bringing income for the village. It is such a miracle and a great blessing for the Continuation on Page: 11

Not Just Adults. New Campaign

Has Teens Celebrating Their Abortions
A new pro-abortion campaign aims to convince teens that aborting an unborn baby is no big deal. Organized by Advocates for Youth and the National Network of Abortion Funds, Youth Testify is a national campaign that encourages young people who have had abortions to share their stories, according to Teen Vogue. The campaign claims it wants to change the narrative and combat misinformation about abortions among teens and young adults, but it really only wants abortion-positive stories from teens. Young adults who regret aborting their unborn babies or had terrible experiences are not welcome to participate. The campaign currently has 13 people ages 17 to 24 who are sharing their abortion stories in Teen Vogue and other venues targeted at young adults.
Some already have had as many as three abortions. One, Jessy, told the magazine about the struggles she went through to be able to abort her unborn child: “Because of all the hurdles I had to go through with insurance, I had to play the waiting game for so long, and because there’s so much stigma surrounding abortion, I was ashamed and didn’t try to reach out for more help.” One of the key goals of Youth Testify appears to be to attack parental consent laws. Most states have these common-sense laws to require that parents be involved before their minor daughter makes a life-changing, life-destroying decision. Calling these protective laws a “barrier” for teens, the campaign referred to two of its storytellers, Veronika and Co, who bypassed the laws by asking a judge for an abortion rath-
er than their parents. SUPPORT LIFENEWS! To challenge the abortion culture, please help LifeNews. com with a do nation! According to the report: Through judicial bypass, a judge is ultimately held responsible for deciding whether a young person is mature enough to choose an abortion for themselves. According to Advocates for Youth, the procedures are based on “unclear legal criteria” and create a double standard for young people, by forcing them to prove they’re “mature” enough before they may choose an abortion but not have a child. And although Veronika, a 19-year-old Latina woman, was ultimately granted the right to an abortion without approval from a parent or guardian, it didn’t make the process any less nerve-wracking. “It was stressful emotionally because I was really scared

villagers. Presently, Sin Ho village has become a Christian tourist place where people from all over the world come to visit. Additionally, as they gather together in the market, they hear the gospel preached more than twice a week. Sin Ho is no longer a village of drug addiction, alcoholism, crime and poverty because God opened the windows of heaven
and poured out a blessing upon the people of this village. They are no longer in bondage to Satan and traditional worship as mentioned above. The light of the gospel and our Lord Jesus Christ now shines in the people and the transformation of this village. Their testimony is more than remarkable of how God can transform men’s lives in a remote village in the mountains of
North Vietnam. With God, all things are possi- ble. The government has been watching this village and how it has changed and the transformation of the people. The government tried to impose on them to let the government be in charge of the village but the village people told the government to stay away from their village. Pray for this Viet Nam village. +++

they would say no,” Veronika told Teen Vogue. But she also wants the world to know how much relief and joy her ability to get an abortion has brought her, and that she has no regrets. “It was the best, most mature decision I made in my life, because I got to determine my future. I made a decision for myself and for a child, that I wasn’t ready emotionally, mentally, or financially.” The pro-abortion campaign also is pushing a California bill that would force colleges to provide dangerous abortion drugs to students on
campus. Abortion activists hope the bill will become “a model across the country, for every state.” “Young people are leading the way on every fight worth having,” said Deb Hauser, president of Advocates for Youth. “Whether they are marching for gun control, police reform, immigrants’ rights, LGBTQ health an d rights, racial justice or reproductive justice, young people are mobilizing for a more just and equitable world. Our job is to provide them with the tools tools and support they need to make their vision a reality.”
What really appears to be happening is the abortion industry is putting a huge amount of money and effort into convincing young people to join their movement. For years, the pro-abortion movement has worried about the apathy among its young supporters and the passion of young pro-life advocates. Hopefully, this deceptive campaign will fail, like many others, to convince young adults that killing an unborn baby is somehow normal and good. +++
