The Blood

Chapter 1 Life is in the Blood

Leviticus 17:11-16 says, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement (at-one-ment) for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood. And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust. For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off. And every soul that eateth that which died of itself, or that which was torn with beasts, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean. But if he wash them not, nor bathe his flesh; then he shall bear his iniquity.” These Scriptures are talking about the importance of the blood. It tells us the life of the flesh is in the blood. The Bible tells us in Hebrews the second chapter, that Jesus took on flesh and blood, like us, for a purpose. Hebrews 2:14, “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.”

Lesson 2

By Jesus doing what He did, death is destroyed. Glory to God! That is good news, isn’t it? Look again at this scripture in Hebrews 2: 14 “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, Jesus likewise took part of the same.” Notice that He took part of the same. He took on flesh like our flesh, but His blood was different. He had blood flowing through His veins when He walked the earth, but it was different from ours. I want to show you in this lesson how important the blood really is. The blood is the life of the flesh as we have already stated. Just as we had to have flesh and blood to enter this earth, Jesus He volunteered to take part of the same. He wrapped Himself as the Word clothed in flesh, and dwelt among us, but the blood of Jesus was different. It was blood similar to our blood as far as the natural biological blood, but His was divine blood. It was very different. The life of the flesh is in the blood, either the good, divine, eternal life, or the sin cursed evil life. The bloodline you are of determines which. I’m going to show this to you. Look with me in 1 John 3:8, “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” For this purpose, the Son of God showed up, in order to destroy the works of the devil. The works of the devil include sickness, killing and destroying. See John 10:10. That means destruction, poverty, sin, suffering, calamity, tragedy, are all included in the works of the devil because that is what devils do, steal, kill and destroy. So for this purpose the Son of God showed up, was manifested in flesh and blood. He came to destroy death and all the workings of it. He took part of the same flesh like us so that He could and would destroy the works of the devil. Look in John 1:14, “And the Word was made flesh.” The Word is capital because the Word is Jesus.

The Blood

John 1:14: “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth. Begotten of the Father refers to Jesus being born in the flesh of Father God. I want to take you somewhere with this, so please hold this thought for now. In Verse 14, The Lord was made flesh. He took part of the same flesh as humans. The children of Adam were like this, so He took part of the same to become the Last Adam for us. Do you see that? The reason why He did this was to get rid of death, to destroy the works of the devil. There was a definite purpose in Him doing it. So here in verse 14 we see that the Word was made flesh. We are flesh, right? Yes, we are, so the Word was clothed in flesh in order to dwell among us. Immanuel, God with us, the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth, now among us or actually one of us.

The Blood

Chapter 2 The Virgin Birth and Innocent Blood

The difference is in the blood that coursed through His veins. It was innocent blood. In Matthew 27:4 “Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood.” The context here is Judas saying this because he had betrayed Jesus. Our Saviours blood was innocent. The key point in that verse for this study shows us ‘the blood of Jesus is innocent blood’. Jesus was of Adam’s race according to the flesh. He was clothed in flesh like the children, He took part of the same. Yet He did not possess Adam’s sinful nature. This proves that sin is not transmitted through the flesh, but is actually transmitted through the blood. Think about this, it is very important. If sin was in the flesh, Jesus was clothed in flesh in the womb of Mary. His baby flesh had contact with the womb of Mary. The blood had to be the difference. Innocent blood. No sin in His heavenly blood coursing through His veins. It wasn’t the Adamic blood flowing through His veins, the sin-cursed blood. Jesus was of Adam’s race as to the flesh. He was clothed in flesh but He did not possess Adam’s sinful nature. The reason He did not possess the Adamic nature is because His blood was different. This is why the virgin birth is vital. It is not an optional doctrine in the Bible. If somebody does away with the virgin birth, run from them! They are in error! And, if they are in error about that, they are in error about a lot! 4 | Chuck Kennedy

Lesson 2

Look in Romans the first chapter verse three, “Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh.” This passage reveals to us Jesus did have flesh. He could be tempted as we are, yet never succumbed to it like Adam and Eve did. Yes, the human flesh is like Adams flesh, but the difference was the blood that went through His veins. I’m not a doctor nor am I in the medical profession. I can only do research and my knowledge is limited, but as I understand it, when the baby is in the womb of the mother, the blood is totally separated from the mother’s blood. If it mixes, there’s a problem. You mothers know. This must be understood so we will see why Jesus blood is so important to you. The mother’s blood and the baby’s blood do not normally mix. In fact, the baby generates its own blood as a result of the egg being fertilized by the male sperm. Then that baby begins to manufacture its own blood. God is so good, isn’t He?! What a miracle working God! A baby is such a miracle! Well, we all came that way. In this case, you have to understand that the Bible speaks of Jesus being conceived in the womb. If the blood were going to mix, it would be in the fallopian tube at conception because that is where conception takes place as I understand it. I’m not a doctor, but I understand conception takes place in the fallopian tube. According to Scripture that is not where the conception took place with our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus was conceived in the womb. Look in Luke 1 and I’ll show you that in verse 31, “And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.” The virgin Mary was told, “Thou shalt conceive in your womb”. The Word became flesh in her womb, He was totally protected from Mary’s blood. The blood is the life of the flesh as we learned earlier in this lesson. Well, as the blood is life to the flesh, so the Spirit is to life eternal.

The Virgin Birth and Innocent Blood | 5

The Blood

Pay attention to this very closely. As the blood is the life of your earthly flesh here on earth, the Spirit is eternal life to you eternally. God’s Spirit I am talking about. That is why you must be born again. You have to get a new nature by being born again of the Spirit, because you were born on earth spiritually dead. Jesus’ blood was heavenly blood. It’s not earthly – no part earthly. Conceived in the womb by the faith of Mary, He produced His own blood, divine in nature, but clothed in flesh. Glory to God! That is powerful! I pray you see this truth and meditate on it. Now some preachers teach that the blood type comes from the Father. Actually, aside from the miracle birth of Jesus, each biological parent donates one of the ABO alleles to their child. I’m talking about the normal conception in the fallopian tube. This is a totally unique situation by the Virgin Mary. She was the incubator for the Word made flesh. That supernatural miracle baby once conceived in the womb, then began to generate His own heavenly divine blood. No part of it was Mary’s earthly blood. Then at birth He became the Last Adam in order to live on earth and deny sin, then become the ultimate sacrifice for us. It’s not the same as a regular baby. Can’t be! Please meditate on these truths until you see why the virgin birth is so important. It is not optional.

The Blood

Chapter 3 The Divine Bloodline

Think about the Divine bloodline here! I mean just think about it in our everyday life, how important the bloodline is. If you want a pet dog, you go check the bloodline. That is if you really want a pedigreed, fullblooded, purebred dog. Because you are buying the bloodline. Isn’t that right? You check to see who was the mom and the dad making sure it does not have any ‘mixed’ blood. You want to see the bloodline before you pay $800 or $1000 for that little thing that wags his tail and uses the bathroom in your house. On a more pronounced scale than the puppies, would be horses. If you’re in the business of horses, then you are not buying anything in that quality horse but the past blood, the bloodline. You will be paying $100,000 for that pony based on the accomplishments of the family members before it was even born and again making certain of a pure, no mixed, bloodline. You are paying for the bloodline of the prior horses, having no idea what this little runt of a colt will do, other than what you see in the bloodline. The bloodline is important. Jesus’ blood is the finest. It is heavenly blood and because of Him you also now partake of His heavenly nature. Look in 2 Peter 1:4, “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers...” He took part in your flesh and blood and now you can partake of His divine nature. “...having escaped the corruption that’s in the world through lust.”

The Blood

Chapter 4 The Blood’s Importance Throughout the Bible

From the very beginning of the Bible the blood has played an important part and it continues all the way through Revelation. It is a tremendous theme in the Bible. Look in the third chapter of Genesis, when Adam and Eve sinned. Look at what God does. I am sure you are familiar with the Biblical account where the devil tempted Adam and Eve, they sinned, and the curse came on the earth as a result. Genesis 3:21 states, “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.” Skins is plural, indicating God killed an animal to clothe them. If you make coats of skin, there is going to be some bloodshed. If you skin an animal, you’re going to have some blood involved. Adam and Eve now have sinned and so they realize they are naked. God in His mercy provided for them both spiritually with the blood and physically with the skins. Meditate on this until you can see it with your inner eyes. This is the supernatural power of the blood in its purest form way back in the very beginning of the Bible. How about Cain and Abel? They were to offer a sacrifice to God. One offered from his flock and was accepted. The other one offered from the fruit of the ground and was rejected. The Bible doesn’t record absolutely every moment in time, but enough to provide us victory on earth and life eternal.

Lesson 2

You can see from this that Cain and Abel had training in blood sacrifice because Abel knew what to offer and Cain also must have known, but didn’t do it. Able had the blood sacrifice that was accepted. Take a Look in Exodus 12. This is where the children of Israel are being delivered from Egypt. In the Bible, Egypt is a type of the world. They were being delivered from the world system. They lived in Goshen and were protected. God protected them while they were there, but He was getting them out. He was freeing them from demonic bondage. Now when I was in Pakistan, I saw them making bricks. The whole family makes bricks from daylight until dusk together. They labor in the field. The kids bring them the mud and the water. They make the bricks one at a time and they probably make only a dollar or two a day for the entire family. Not much money for being on their knees on the ground, in the mud, with all the kids working and forming those bricks for the sun to dry. I saw them do it. Now here were the Israelites in bondage because they were trying to make bricks. To make things worse, the Egyptians took away their straw. I can only imagine what they were going through during that time. I mean it looked pretty laborious when I was in Pakistan. I can only imagine it would be the same with the children of Israel. God wanted to deliver them from that bondage. The way He set them free was with the blood. Exodus 12:5-7 “Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.” So if they strike it on the right side and then on the left side and then above them, well that is a cross. Isn’t it? A cross made with the blood. Then there is the commandment to eat it. Jesus said, “If you don’t eat my

The Blood

flesh and drink my blood, you don’t have any part of me.” Verse 13, Exodus 12, “For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgement: I am the Lord. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” Pay attention here to the fact the blood is their protection. The blood is the life of the flesh, right? The Spirit is life in eternity. Under the law death must occur for sin. That is why they had animals slaughtered. Bulls, calves, sheep, goats, there were certain ones for certain sins. We will get more into this as we progress to later lessons. Under grace death has already occurred for sin. His name is Jesus. Thank you, Lord!

The Blood

Chapter 5 Jesus Died in My Stead

We said in the beginning that Jesus partook of – took part of the same, flesh and blood as the children, so that He could destroy death. Then we said for this purpose the Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil. He came as the perfect man. The last Adam. He had the nature of God, the blood of God, divine blood flowing through Him. The wages of sin are death. Satan had no power to kill Him. Jesus actually laid down His life since the wages of sin are death, and Jesus never sinned, so sin could not kill Him. A normal man I think probably would have died with all the beating He took and then carrying the cross up the hill to Calvary. I would shudder to think of a person really being able to survive that, but He did because He chose to lay down His life for us. Here is a powerful key. He didn’t die ‘instead’ of me. He died in my stead. Listen close here. He didn’t die instead of me dying. He died in my stead! He took the place of me and all humanity. A death has occurred for our sins. There is no more hold of Satan against me or you! The penalty was paid for sin. The blood of Jesus has been shed on our behalf with a death, just as if it were you or I. For the penalty of our sin. We receive this grace through repentance of our sins and acceptance of His substitutionary sacrifice for us by faith. In light of this knowledge, when Satan knocks, seeking as the destroyer to destroy you. When he knocks on your door, tell him that ‘You are already dead.’ He can’t touch us anymore. There has already been a death 11 | Chuck Kennedy

Lesson 2

that has occurred. It was Jesus in our stead. Jesus for the all of us. Therefore, Satan can’t kill us anymore. He has no right to us. Any of his destructive works have no power in our life because of the perfect work, the substitutionary work of Jesus Christ on our behalf. So when he comes and knocks at your door, just answer by saying, ‘The blood! It’s the blood. You can’t do anything here, devil! It’s the blood.’ The blood of Jesus! Now look in Romans the third chapter and we’ll go a little deeper into this. We are just barely scratching the surface. The reason we are learning this is so we can apply our faith when these situations arise. Satan can no longer whip you around by lying to you. You now know the truth and the truth has made you free. You have beaten him up, because a death has occurred in your place! In your stead. Therefore, Satan has no power whatsoever over you! None! No more disease! No more poverty! No more lying! No more strife! No more hatred! No more anger! You have been delivered! Apply your faith in the blood! Romans 3:25, “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation (satisfaction) through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.” This is applied through faith. If the Israelite children had not have slain the lamb, or if they just left the blood in a basin and never put it on the doorpost – there would have been death to their firstborn. Death in every household without the blood. Just because they did not apply it. You have to use your faith to apply this blood in your life. Otherwise, you are going to get whipped around. The devil is a liar. What I want you to understand in this lesson is that you are legally free. Use it by repentance and exercise of your faith.

Jesus Died in My Stead | 12

The Blood

You just have to take it by faith and apply it. Glory! When the devil harasses you, you know what to do. Sometimes all it takes is saying, “The blood. Try it before you move to the next lesson.
