CONFLUENCES may be considered to be a trailblazer in terms of the new trend for ‘counterforms’ as characterised by the interwoven yin-yang or puzzle-type effect. It will be just as pleasing to lovers of radical design, pioneers searching for a settee which is totally different from any other, as it will to all those who are seduced first & foremost by the freedom of posture and unheard-of conviviality offered by its colourful, unbridled compositions. The use of just one armrest or sofa end table is recommended, to be used in asymmetrical fashion. Lumbar cushion filled with pure duck down. Removable covers. Each item is offered in a monocolour interpretation (Indiana, Diva & the fabrics listed hereafter) or a bicolour interpretation whereby colours may be selected from a choice of combinations specified by the designer using the following fabrics : Divina, Topas, Pause, Sudden, Coda, Curl & Pure. The first 2 colours from each combination are recommended for 2-seat items; the first 3 colours for 3-seat items; & the 4th colour for the 4-seat settee. Colour no. 1 applies to the right-hand sitting position; colour no. 2 to the adjacent seat place; & so on. Other colour permutations, or the choice of another colour from the same fabric family, are also possible. In the case of the arm & lumbar cushions, any covering material may be chosen.

Designed for an easy, carefree way of life, TOGO has been a best-seller ever since its launch in the early Seventies. The first all-foam settee, TOGO combines five different densities of foam for maximum comfort. Covers are generously quilted with polyester material, & may be removed by an upholsterer for dry cleaning. PUMPKIN is characteristic of the revolutionary style of Pierre Paulin, as initiated at the end of the 1950’s. He effectively liberated the design of seating by treating each piece as a unique volume, more or less sculpted from foam & not necessarily resting on four feet: an approach which brought extraordinary freedom in terms of form, liberating seating as it did from traditional methods of assembly & orthogonal lines. As its name suggests PUMPKIN is evocative of a giant pumpkin, welcoming the user with its protectively voluptuous – & voluptuously protective – shell. Resisting its appeal is an impossibility!

Mobility & diversity are trends which have always influenced the work of Pascal Mourgue. All elements in the PATCHWORK collection are therefore both mobile and adaptable, with one single settee able to answer to a wide variety of situations. By combining the elements in different ways, 14 different seating configurations can be achieved, all of which are available in 2 fabric ‘families’: Kvadrat (bases in Divina, seats in Topas, backs in Harald) or Treves; a monocolour interpretation is also available, in Divina, Topas, Harald, Alcantara, Treves or Indiana hide.

Compact dimensions, a high level of comfort & strikingly unusual looks are all hallmarks of this distinctive model. Items may be made up in a selection of fabrics from the Ligne Roset range, with toning or contrasting stitching (ecru, anthracite, grey, red or blue). Each cover requires hundreds of metres of stitching (210m for the large settee, using 700m of thread). Covers are quilted in 5cm bands & may be removed for dry cleaning. A matching rug in Coda fabric is also available: this is quilted in 12cm bands, & always has toning stitching.

DOWNTOWN provides the perfect answer to the requirements of modern life: an ingenious, innovative & atypical multi-function settee which invites you to sit, lounge, sleep, play… Range includes medium & large settee, fireside chair & chaise longue. All items are based around a multi-articulated metal frame faced in panels of multi-ply with thermoformed sides. Suspension via elastic webbing. The fireside chair folds out to become a large footrest, whilst the chaise longue transforms into a 206 cm long bed.

Available in a modular (large long corners, corner settees, 1-arm settees & chaises longue) or ‘traditional’ version (small & large settees), SKETCH combines thick seat cushions with 2 sizes of back cushions. Given the shape of the seat cushions, corner groups may only be formed using the following combinations: large long arm settee/ R + large 1-arm settee/ R, large corner settee/ R or large chaise longue/ R; large long arm settee/ L+ large 1-arm settee/ L, large corner settee/ L or large chaise longue/ L. A combination of coordinating fabrics is ideal for this model, with one fabric on the seat, another on the large cushions & a third on the small cushions.

With its timeless, cosmopolitan design, URBANI has quickly established itself as an integral part of the Ligne Roset collection. It certainly possesses the right attributes: generous proportions, sobriety of line, & an elegant (&adjustable) low back. Feather-filled back cushions add a touch of refinement, whilst the brilliant-chromed steel feet bring a note of luxury. The seat depth of the ‘mobile’ settees may be varied by up to 30 cm, thus offering a choice of two ‘relax’ positions, & the large settee may also become a day bed (W 90 L 205): press back against the backrest to activate the seat.

A collection of seating with, in the words of its designer, ‘classic international’ style ‘to last longer than just a fashion’. A light high-legged metal frame beautifully accommodates the soft, sophisticated cushions. The matt black lacquered moulded aluminium arms are a technical triumph, a perfect foil to an attractive, functional design. Seat/back in mechano-soldered steel with elastic webbed suspension on seat, supported by a metal element which acts as both front foot and armrest, made from black lacquered moulded aluminium. The 2 settees have arm cushions (foam + feather) which are designed to mould themselves to the sweeping curve of the aluminium arms.

Seat cushions are topped with a layer of duck feathers in a compartmented liner for added comfort & softness. Back cushions are either pillow-style or flat-sided. Feet are in dark brown or ebony-stained oak, or matt chromed aluminium. Removable covers (NB except hide). Pascal Mourgue’s intention was to complete our collection by designing a range of seating which was ‘PAS SI CLASSIQUE’ – that is, ‘not so classic’. Range includes corner settee with left/right arm, 1-arm settee with left/right arm, settee & footstool; with the exception of the latter, each item comes with 1 back cushion. Removable covers. Feet in brilliant-chromed steel tubing. Both monocolour & multicolour interpretations are possible, with different covering materials on the sides of seat, seat, back & back cushion.

With only a handful of elements, it is possible to create a wealth of different settees & corner compositions, with a choice of two possible types of armrest - a low, wide version & a narrower, higher version. The base elements are: 2-seater without armrests (asymmetrical seat cushion & large back cushion), 3-seater without armrests (asymmetrical seat cushion & asymmetrical back cushions), lounge settee without armrests, footstool, high trapezoid armrest type A (W 27.5 cm), low rectangular armrest type B (W 30 cm). Armrests of type A may be used either at the end of a settee or run, or in a corner of a corner composition.

Range includes a fireside chair(several of which may be combined to form one long banquette), armchair, medium settee, small settee without arms, large settee with or without arms, large ‘long corner’ with left or right arm, & large chaise longue with left or right arm. The seat is always the same colour as the frame, but contrasting back cushions may be specified if desired. Removable covers (NB except Alcantara & hide). Polished aluminium feet.

A compact bed-settee, designed to optimise both usage & the quality of the sleep area on a day-to-day basis whilst offering the visual charm & comfort of a ‘real’ settee. MOSTRA unfolds simply by tipping the back forwards & can be returned to its original position effortlessly thanks to its patented assisted mechanism. Throughout this single-movement operation the seat & back cushions remain in place, making the whole process simple & painless. During the day, the criss-cross webbed suspension on the seat & elastic-webbed suspension on the back combine to make MOSTRA just as welcoming by day as it is by night.

A daily-use bed-settee of deliberately understated elegance. Well-proportioned with moulded aluminium feet & traditional, mattress-style buttoned cushions, it evokes the timeless style of the 1930s. Designed to be used every day, MULTY’s simple mechanism & slatted base make the transformation from settee to bed a breeze. It can be used as a settee, as a chaise longue with the seat pulled forward, & as a bed. Also available: lumbar cushions, arms, bedside tables, envelope sheets.

Complementing the Travel collection, TRAVEL STUDIO has always had certain characteristics which make it suitable for a young person’s bedroom – not least robustness, durability & ease of maintenance, not to mention the total mobility afforded by its lockable castors. Choose from a low bed (sleep area 90 x 200) or a companion bed (sleep area 90 x 200 or 120 x 200), both of which are finished in ribbed aluminium laminate or ribbed white laminate. The low bed consists of a bed frame mounted on 4 lockable castors, with handles on each of the long sides for ease of mobility; when placed against a wall it will also serve as a day bed. Since each element of the collection is complete in itself, nothing could be simpler than putting together a piece of Book & Look: all this entails is to superimpose & juxtapose the required number of elements, as if playing with building blocks. LINES Peter Maly An unstructured shelving unit with sloping shelves & interior panels, offering storage space of unequal volumes; optional indirect LED lighting may be located vertically behind each side of the front of the frame. Structure in panels of MDF, with 25 mm thick shelves & interior panels, finished in white or anthracite satin-finish lacquer. The LINES sideboard boasts the same oblique lines, this time indented to emphasize the glossiness of the finish (choice of gloss white/gloss anthracite/gloss red lacquer).
