Instruction manual CULTIMAT – CULTIMAT P 7. No-one should pass between the tractor and the machine unless the vehicle is immobilised (handbrake, chocks, etc), the engine switched off and the ignition key removed.
1.4.2.
HITCH 8. Follow the hitching instructions carefully : when manoeuvring, select the tractor’s lowest possible forward gear, -
there should be no-one between the tractor and the machine when manoeuvring the tractor or lifting,
-
the category of tractor hitch must be adapted to the hitching characteristics of the machine,
-
during hitching operations, the hydraulic controls of the tractor should be in such a position that the linkage does not move while handling,
-
the hitch must be locked and should not unhook when lowered.
9. Weight distribution is modified by hitching up the machine. The maximum vehicle axle weight (see manufacturer’s instructions) must not be exceeded. If too much load is taken off the front axle, additional weight should be placed to retain control of vehicle steering. 10. When hitching or unhitching the implement, put any support equipment provided in place to prevent machine imbalance.
1.4.3.
TRANSPORT 11. Comply with the highway code when driving on public roads. 12. When cornering, beware of machine offset and weight transfer. Adapt your speed. 13. In transit, secure the lower lifting arms to prevent them from swinging out. 14. The machine must not be moved outside the field or near people until the fold-away extensions or the fold-away or tipping accessories (if any) have been locked in the transport position. 15. In transit, the hydraulic hoses to the folding cylinders must be disconnected to prevent accidental unfolding. 16. On machines equiped with a transport axle, secure the axle locking system before taking the machine onto the road. 17. START-UP
4. STARTSTART-UP 4.1. HITCHING • Check that the hoist connecting rods are at the same length before hitching. • Release the side linkage check rods from the lower arms. • Hitch to the tractor conventionally (respect safety instructions). The frame must be horizontal to the work surface. There are several possible height settings available to ensure correct hitching.
• Check that all the hitching elements are correctly locked.
Correct hitching (A, Figure 23) : The lower hitching arms and the 3rd point must be secured so that, when working, their projected lines intersect between the rear and the front axles (ideal traction point). The tractor and the machine form a single unit; the tractor's power is used to best effect and the tool works correctly. Hitching 3 points incorrect (B, Figure 23) : The 3rd point is too horizontal and the lower hitching arms are too high on the tool: the tractor drive wheels do not get enough grip.
Figure 23
• Connect the hydraulic pipes to a double acting connection of the tractor.
4.2. STARTING UP IMPORTANT : NEVER TURN ROUND WITH THE MACHINE IN THE EARTH
Respect the safety instructions (see section 1, page 3) ! CAUTION : Maintain a safe distance during the manoeuvre. Beware of crushing and jamming.
• Remove the lock of the rear folding hydraulic cylinder (see Figure 24).
• Unfold the extensions. • Make adjustments (see section 5, page 23). Figure 24 November 2005
CULTIMAT – CULTIMAT P - page 21
Instruction manual CULTIMAT – CULTIMAT P
4.3. TRANSPORT In all instances, respect the highway code ! CAUTION : According to the tractor, it’s possible that the overall height of the CULTIMAT P 8,10m and 9,10m in transport position (raising in high postion) exceeds 4,50 m. In this case, be careful with respect to the road infrastructures, of the power and telephone lines. CAUTION: For a cultivator equipped with double crumbler rollers, do not fold the frame extensions when the double crumbler rollers are in the raised position. Risk of collision between sections. First return the double crumbler rollers to the low position (see § 5.1.2.7).
• Raise the machine. • Fold up both sides using the tractor hydraulic system. A hydraulic valve integrated into the cylinder(s) ensures the locking of the frame in transport position.
Disconnect the hydraulic hoses before transporting of the road.
4.4. UNHITCHING Storage in unfolded position (recommended position) :
• Unfold the frame extensions (for improved stability and less stress on the tines). • Unhitch on stable ground. Storage in folded position :
Figure 25
• Block the rear cylinder manually using the lock (see Figure 25), in order to avoid any risk of accidental unfolding of the machine during storage.
• Unhitch the machine on stable ground and after having put holds under the frame to ensure machines stability.
