your dream design team Fully Integrated A+E Services
HFA provides a unique understanding and perspective of how architecture and engineering ultimately support project proformas and long-term business goals. We approach projects from a unique design perspective, always looking through the lens of the developer. Before design is even discussed, we seek to thoroughly understand our clients’ development objectives for the project.
exceptional planning for Remarkable Designs
We work diligently to develop, study, and provide early information that assists in understanding if a development proforma pencils out. This includes defining key project metrics such as project size, massing, and site requirements. We look at the feasibility of concept design solutions to ensure design intent, constructability, and best value. The entitlement process is supported through early design packages, renderings, visualization, and representation. These early design packages are supplemented with scope narratives and allow for sound budget development, often with the assistance of a construction manager and / or independent cost consultants.

university station
WESTWOOD, MA 2,000,000 SF
University Station is a 2 million-square-foot, mixed-use project and open air shopping center in Westwood, MA, located on University Avenue adjacent to the Route 128 MBTA Commuter Rail/Amtrak Station.
HFA worked with the owner and civil teams to create a vibrant mixed-use development. With a strong axial arrangement, the main boulevard of University Avenues makes a strong connection to the existing commuter rail/train station on the east side of the development. HFA worked diligently with the town to ensure that the buildings along University Avenue were designed to address pedestrian and vehicular traffic from all elevations and did not feel like “rear” facing buildings.
the point
LITTLETON, MA 500,000 SF
Located at the intersection of 495 & Rt. 119 in Littleton, MA, The Point integrates into a very challenging and steeply graded site. With expertise in master planning and retail/mixed-use, HFA was able to work with the grades and create three platform levels of retail (low, middle, and high). To take advantage of the varying grade levels, HFA was able to maximize retail frontage by creating a combination of single and twostory retail buildings with some buildings being carved into the hillside. The resulting placement of buildings to address site grade resulted in the opportunity to create outdoor activity spaces with framed views and vistas into the development.
linden square
WELLESLEY, MA 223,000 SF
HFA is honored to be the architect and engineering partner for Federal Realty Investment Trust’s renovation of its wellknown mixed-use retail and lifestyle development, Linden Square. Located in the heart of Wellesley, MA, Linden Square has a long history within the community, having gone through various uses and states of construction since the early 1900s. In 2020, Federal Realty Investment Trust chose to pursue a reinvestment in the center to update many of its attractions and maintain its reputation as one of the region’s premier retail destinations. HFA was eager to take on the task of bringing modern design and functions to Linden Square while respecting its rich New England architectural palette.

daniel o’connell’s sons
MILFORD, MA 5,000 SF
HFA led the architecture and interior design on an office buildout for Daniel O’Connell’s Sons (DOC), a construction company based in Milford, MA. The company was looking for office space that encourages collaboration and social interaction for its Eastern Massachusetts team. Taking inspiration from their workspace goals, we designed a modern, industrial office environment that takes advantage of existing features while adding new, interesting treatments throughout that add playful elements to the gathering spaces. The program includes eight private offices; 10 open workstations; one large conference room and one smaller “huddle” room; touchdown spaces for field employees; an open and inviting break room and seating area; and informal stand-up gathering spaces to support collaboration.
ledger
BENTONVILLE, AR 230,000 SF
Part of a much larger office space that is still under construction, the Ledger Showroom project was unique in that it has provided our team with a place to test out designs, textiles, furnishings, and other functionalities that will one day be used in the larger Ledger Building. This space is made even more unique because of its intended use as a bikeable, high-density coworking space, so our team had to be very creative and incorporate wall hooks for accessible, yet aesthetically pleasing bike storage, allowing people to bike to and from work. Our team even worked to incorporate elements like phone booths in the showroom for a sense of privacy within the open plan coworking space. By test fitting furnishings and design elements while the space is being used our team is able to make real-time changes and further informs the overall design of the larger building.
HFA led civil engineering along with MEP and fire protection engineering for the Ledger Showroom and adjacent tenant infill.
Renderings provided directly from The Ledger.

BENTONVILLE, AR 45,000 SF
FRANKLIN, MA 9,000 SF
HFA is an architecture + engineering firm with studios in Bentonville, AR; Franklin, MA; Fort Worth, TX; and Mexico City. As our talent continues to grow, so does our need for updated, innovative office spaces. Both the Bentonville and Franklin studios were recently updated, with our design teams leading the charge of these projects. The Bentonville studio’s adaptive reuse renovation took a dormant building and transformed it into a LEED-CI Gold workspace with an open floor plan that embraces natural lighting, vibrant color palates, and reclaimed wood throughout. The space was intentionally designed to allow those working within to collaborate, focus, learn, and socialize. In Franklin, we partnered with Enformed Construction Services (ECS) to transform the existing workspace during the height of COVID-19. With various delays and supply chain issues, this renovation was split into two phases. Phase one was completed in 2020 and featured space for twenty-four workstations, three private offices, a new kitchen and break room with seating for 12, and four conference rooms to accommodate meetings for up to 10 people.
ferrari of new england
NORWOOD, MA 50,000 SF
To truly achieve success with the renovation of the Ferrari Maserati Dealership of New England meant that our team had to create and execute a design as high-end as the cars for sale within the building. To do so, every single detail was massively important to us, from the immaculate white walls to the illumination built into the ceilings and every nook and cranny, providing the right lighting to highlight each car’s sleek design.
Thorough and consistent communication throughout the project led to the successful completion of this unique and luxurious space, a feat that was achieved because every tradesman involved brought their best ideas and collaborative effort to the project each day.
