Berkeley, Gloucestershire Hagen Friend
Berkeley Town
I lived in a place called Berkeley right next to the river Severn and there wasn’t a whole lot going on, it was in the middle of nowhere, so while I was a young teenager i had to be rather creative and my friends and I came up with some radical things to do just so we didn’t die of boredom.
Fitzhardinge Way
This is my drive, Fitzhardinge Way, I lived here for eight years, at first when I moved in, I didn’t like it very much, the thing about change, moving school, but I ended up with some good friends and some brillant anecdotes to take from here. Just next to my house was a massive field where I’d walk both my dogs with my mum, and there is a walking path that leads to Sharpness where one of my good friends Jord lives.
Canonbury Street
Canonbury Street, the main street of Berkeley, where everything goes down - not! Berkeley does have some sort of use, it has a D.I.Y store, an estate angents, many shops including the co-operative and one stop. But what Berkeley is propbably most famous for are its pubs, and I used to work at one of them, The Berkeley Arms Hotel, this was my bestfriend’s mother’s pub which she ran, and kindly gave me a job, working on the bar serving everyone in Berkeley that craved that old English pint of cider!
The Castle Meadows
Summer... This place reminds me of summer so much, a sunny day, not a cloud in the sky, beer in one hand and the sound of water running. You could see Berkeley castle from the brook as well, you could say it was picturesque. my friends and I made a rope swing to jump in the brook, we had to repair that thing so many times, and jumping of the bridge into the water was the best feeling ever! I even took my girlfriend here, it was a time to just snap back and relax.
The Football Pitch
I used to play football for the town club, they actually weren’t that bad, I played up front scoring all the goals! Every Saturday, playing in the most horrible football kit, yellow and green errgh! I used to love it though, playing footy with all my friends with all the parents watching.
Berkeley Town, thinking about it now, it’s not such a bad place, I did enjoy my time there, and every time I go back I get some of the best memories...
