The Heart of Florida United Way hosts its third annual volunteer carnival Saturday -- a free, family-friendly event that combines food, games and prizes with the opportunity to make a difference. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the United Way offices, 1940 Traylor Blvd. in Orlando, and includes game booths, free food, a bounce house, face painting, bowling and raffle prizes. There also will be representatives from local nonprofit organizations with information on volunteer openings. And those who like can join charitable projects on site -- including making school supply kits, assembling snack packs and hygiene supplies for families in need, and writing letters to elected officials in support of education.

About Change the World

Among the raffle prizes are four new bicycles. Everyone who attends the carnival gets one free raffle ticket, and if you bring a new or gently used book suitable for kids ages 5 to 17, you'll get a second ticket free.
