SUBJECT: LEARNING HOW TO WRITE THE LETTER “F”

GRADE LEVEL: 1

“F” is for Fairy Objectives 1.

For students to learn how to write the letter “F”.

2.

For students to start to develop what the letter sounds like and words that start with the letter “F”.

3.

For students to develop their creative drawing skills.

Materials In order to complete the lesson, each student must have: • Their main lesson book • Block crayons

Procedures 1.

DAY ONE

• During circle time, tell the story of “Lusmore and the Fairies” • Show the students the “F” drawing they will be completing today and how to do it. • Make a blue border first with the “mama bear” side of the crayon • Then draw an F with a purple “mama bear” • Draw the body with golden “mama bear” • Complete the wings of the fairy with purple “baby bear” • Add the clothes and shoes to the fairy with whatever color “baby bear” • Add the hair to the fairy with brown “baby bear” • Add a wand to the fairy if the student would like. • Then color the background lightly with blue “papa bear”

DAY TWO

• During circle time, review the story of “Lusmore and the Fairies” by having one student start

at the beginning of the story and then others adding along as the story progresses.

• Ask students what are some words that start with “F”. • Pass out the main lesson books and crayons after circle time and instruct the students on how

to make the template for practicing letters on the board. Then have them do it themselves.

• Write a capital “F” in the top “room” of the paper with the “mama bear” side of a red block

crayon.

• Have the students practice writing a capital “F” in their books with a red stick crayon and

putting a crown on the best one in each row.

• Walk around to make sure that the students are writing the “F” correctly, starting from the

top down and then the two “hats” going from left to right.
