Sean sent us three entries, but we picked this one because he had done such an excellent job of transforming the woman photo into a witch-like creature.

“I thought Halloween for the theme but the face didn’t suggest a witch, so she became a cat woman. I just tried different modes and colour adjustment. Reasonably happy with fi rst attempt.”

UFO
“This seemed the obvious image…
Seemed to be ready-made for a
UFO hovering over Mexico? Not sure where that tower is situated, but I took it away and it now resembles Mexico. The sky and moon are a previous work I’ve done in Photoshop. The spotlights are from using the Brushes tutorial in your mag. The lighting effect on the building is simply adjusting the Satin setting.”
Ruins Attack
“This month I have used the magazine’s pictures to produce Ruins
Attack, an image for future alien attack! Photoshop CS2 was used.”

Catwoman
“Catwoman was inspired by your Bmovie poster tutorial. I merged the sleeping cat with the woman’s face and used the Extrude fi lter, then created an advertisement featuring the new blockbuster.”

The Adventure
“This is the fi rst time I’ve done a picture like this in Photoshop. I used the Pen tool to create the shapes, and the Paintbrush, Eraser and Smudge tools for the shading.”
Woodland Magic
“I used the woodland picture as my background and added a picture of my daughter. I made several layers and used fi lters to achieve the fi nished image. I then brought in two of my own borders.”

Metal Life
Adam has produced a really fabulous image here, adapting the photo of the industrial cranes and turning them into giraffe-like creatures in a desert landscape. Adam’s image is an excellent example of how it’s always worth looking at an object’s shape and seeing if it looks like anything else. If it does, try exploiting that to make a whole new image. You might find it’s the creative jolt you’ve been looking for!
Italy ‘43
“I’m still fairly new to
Photoshop after using Paint
Shop Pro for some years. The soldier in the picture is me, taken from an event I did this year. I used two plug-in effects to age the picture – NiK Colour Effex Pro 2 and VDL Adreline Old Movie. With a bit of cloning and some added text, the picture has now been turned into a postcard from the frontline.”
Untitled
“I chose your industry picture. I like those kind of images. For this image I adjusted Hue/Saturation, and then chose the Flower brush and some custom brushes to make it nice. It’s one of my first works in Photoshop, so I hope it’s not too bad!”
