Hello Everyone, Happy New Year! While 2020 was certainly a challenging year, I hope you have been able to find your silver lining. Turning the page into a new year generally brings with it anticipation. With the year 2020 has been, I think we are all looking for a little more hope than normal. From the Hickman County Extension Office to you and yours, we are wishing you happiness and a hope-filled year in 2021. The Hickman County Extension Office has the office doors open for public traffic for regular office hours, which are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. We will continue to follow the guidance from the Governor, the CDC, and the University of Kentucky, so please know that this could change. New Library Project!
Learn how to cook delicious and healthy food! Tune in for the FREE #Healthy Choices for Every Body nutritional program. Senior SNAP-Ed Assistant Lisa Dodson will teach all seven sessions of the program via Facebook Live. It kicks off on January 27, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. At the end of the program, participants will receive a bag of kitchen supplies at no charge. To participate, like our page. Then, find "Facebook Live Healthy Choices" under our groups and request to join.
Mark your calendars for March 18, March 23, and March 25 at 6:30 pm Central / 7:30 pm Eastern for a 3-session webinar series It's Time to Talk: Estate Planning. The University of Kentucky Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Service will host local industry professionals as they cover topics such as understanding the basics of estate planning; advance directives and caregiver considerations; and eldercare law, trusts, and guardianship. The Big Blue Book Club is off to a great start! We invite returning book club members and new members alike to participate in our second series beginning February 25. Our second book is Flipping a Switch: Your Guide to Happiness and Financial Security in Later Life by Barbara O'Neill, PhD, CFP. Not only will you have the opportunity to read the book, but as a bonus, Dr. O'Neill will be the Book Club Host for this series. You may participate in a day session or evening session, which will be held on February 25, March 4, and March 11 at 10:00 am CST/ 11:00 am EST or 6:00 pm CST/7:00 pm EST. (The morning and evening sessions will be the same each week.)
