Join us online Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 7:30pmET (6:30pmCT) for Introduction to Investing: Part 1, hosted by Dr. Nichole Huff, Extension Specialist for Family Finance and Resource Management, University of Kentucky. This free webinar will feature Dr. Woodrow Johnson, Senior Financial Economist with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), who will provide an overview of investing in American financial markets. The webinar will cover key decisions households need to make before investing, as well as prudent investment considerations such as market efficiency, compound interest, and investment fees.

Dr. Johnson will discuss ways to avoid fraud when investing. No prior investment background is required or expected.

Then, join Dr. Huff and Dr. Johnson again online Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 7:30pmET (6:30pmCT) for Introduction to Investing: Part 2. This free webinar will expand on ideas from Part 1 and discuss a handful of intermediate investment concepts in more detail, including risk, diversification, and portfolio theory. Dr. Johnson will also discuss the mission of the SEC and the role it plays in financial markets.

The survey is not required but will help us know how the recipes are (and there will be prizes to pick-up at the Extension Office for completing it.) School readiness objectives are derived directly from the Governor's Office of Early Childhood to assure we are working to improve kindergarten readiness in Kentucky. Playdates will be held outdoors (weather permitting) and 'Laugh & Learn' to-go bags will be available if uncooperative weather conditions occur.
