AFRICAN LION READY TO ROAR VINCENT TSHITUKA WILL BE KEY TO THE HOSTS’ HOPES OF CLINCHING A SHOCK WIN AGAINST THE BRITISH & IRISH LIONS
B
y his own admission Vincent Tshituka comes from a modest background, but there is nothing
remotely modest about his value to the Johannesburg-based Lions since he burst onto the scene in early 2020. Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and a product of Northcliff High, a school not renowned for producing many professional rugby players, it is easy to understand why the 22-year-old was a relative latecomer to the sport. ‘I come from a background and a school where it seems impossible to rise to the top,’ Tshituka said earlier this year. It is therefore no surprise that the

oval-ball game was low on his list of extra-mural activities. What is quite surprising, though, is that dance was his primary passion, with Tshituka taking up ballroom and hip hop in his early years. ‘I used to dabble a lot in dancing. I danced with a couple of friends in competitions,’ he said.

We’re closer than ever to taking back control, to the things we miss and the people we love. Getting there means keeping it up, just a little longer. It means wearing our masks, washing our hands and social distancing. It means keeping up the hope and belief that better days are coming. Let’s give it one more push. Whatever it takes, for as long as it takes. For all of us; because we’re all worth pushing for.
