Soldiers of Killiecrankie Program Saturday 25th July 2015 (Big Tent Events) We would like to welcome all the re-enactors that have travelled to participate in this event, particularly Purcell’s Irish Brigade from Ireland. 11.00-11.30am – Punishment Through the Ages (Small arena) 11.15 -11.45am - Angus McLaugh Jester, Fool, Juggler, Magician, Entertainer. Angus’ show is for the whole family, kids, adults and even teenagers have been known to enjoy the show. 11.30 - 11.40am – 17th C Highland Pipes (Small arena) 11.40 - 12.30pm - Arena Shows (Cavalry 20mins; Infantry 30mins) 11.45 -12.15 am - Jess Smith A Traditional Story Teller. The stories that Jess tells, have been passed down to her, by previous generations, including stories of the Battle of Killiecrankie and the Killiecrankie area. There is potentially a different story each session. Jess is also well known as an author, she will have several of her books for sale too. 12.15 - 12.45pm - The Battle of Killiecrankie by Rulzion Rattray Rulzion is a history enthusiast, telling the story of the battle from the point of view of the Gael. He also brings out links between Killiecrankie and the battle tactics of the American Civil war. Highly entertaining speaker, well worth listening too. 12.30 - 12.35pm – Highland Sword dance display (Small arena) 12.35 - 12.55pm – Angus’s Antics (Small arena) 12.45 - 1.15pm - Badenoch and Strathspey Waulking Group Waulking cloth is common practice across the world, it is only in Scotland that music has become strongly associated with the process and an important cultural feature. Your chance to participate in this ancient practice. 12.55 - 1.25pm - Punishment Through the Ages (Small arena)

1.15 - 2.00pm - ‘Interactive story telling’ for families, with the National Trust for Scotland. Get to grips with the gory details of the battle, audience participation compulsory! 2.00 - 2.30pm - traditional dying of wool, spinning and weaving A fascinating talk covering home farmed sheep (Blue Texel, Jacob, Zwartbles, Bluefaced Leicester and Texel), to choice of raw fleece, batts, rovings and spun yarn, all dyed on the farm at Muthil, Perthshire. Creating a fantastic range of natural and hand-dyed yarns. 2.05 - 2.10pm - Highland Sword dance display (Small arena) 2.30 - 3.00pm – Proclaiming the Voice of the gael. A Gaelic Choir’s Journey in Upholding a Tradition. The Choir’s origins and development over the last 48 years, plus the story of Gaelic culture in Highland Perthshire. Illustrated with 3 or 4 different types of Gaelic song. 2.15 - 2.35hrs – Angus’s Antics (Small arena) 2.35 - 3.05pm – Punishment Through the Ages (Small arena) 3.00- 3.30pm - Jess Smith A Traditional Story Teller (see details above) 3.05- 3.55pm – Arena Shows (Cavalry 20mins; Infantry 30mins) 3.30 - 4.00pm - Badenoch and Strathspey Waulking group (see details above) 3.30pm – Raffle draw at the Information Tent No.14. 4.00pm - Follow the pipers, re-enactors and cavalry to the memorial for a short ceremony to commemorate all those who lost their lives 326 years ago.
