WHAT’S YOUR STUDY SPOT VIBE?

Do you like solitude and quiet? Do you prefer the hustle and bustle of coffee seekers all around you? Need a collaboration space? Maybe you like to mix it up!

No matter how you like to spend your study time, HPU has a location that fits your needs. Check out just a few below.

The Hive: Affectionately nicknamed “The Hive” by students thanks to his hexagon-patterned ceiling and use as a collaboration lab, The Hive offers break out study rooms for group work, open table spaces and whiteboards for group study sessions and still offers plenty of individual seating for students who want to work alone but like the company of others.

Cottrell Starbucks: If the coffee isn’t enough to draw you there, we’ll also share that the focal point of this popular campus hub is an airplane fuselage – the profile of a plane’s interior, complete with power outlets for laptops, overhead storage, reclining seats and inspirational quotes that scroll through the windows of the plane. You can meet up and sit next to a study partner, or grab a seat and get in the zone all on your own while enjoying the buzz and social scene that ebbs and flows through Cottrell Hall.

Learning Commons: If you picture yourself sitting among the book stacks with the quiet comfort of whispering students, the Learning Commons is one of HPU’s library options. Located on the third floor of the Wanek Student Center, this quiet-time study space allows you to focus and also boasts balcony access that overlooks the heart of campus – the perfect place for a study break!

You’ll see many options on your tour but share your personal preference with your guide for their insight on the spots across campus that will best fit you.

WHICH EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITY SPEAKS TO YOU?

No matter your major, hands-on, experiential learning opportunities await you at HPU. This emphasis on experiential learning will equip you with the competence and confidence to embrace your career without intimidation after graduation.

• Will you be taking your place behind the desk in HPU’s TV Studio? Maybe you’ll find yourself behind one of the 4k cameras or calling the show inside the control room. Either way, when your first day at a news studio arrives, you’ll feel like a seasoned pro.

• Ready to dive into your first research project? Check out one of HPU’s state-of-the-art laboratories

Whether you’re studying someone’s walking pattern in HPU’s Gate Analysis Lab, seeing the impact of a jump on a person’s skeleton in the Biomechanics Lab, or performing stem cell research in HPU’s Zebrafish Lab, the opportunities to pursue innovative STEM research are endless at HPU.

• If numbers speak to you most, visit the Tilley Trading Room, an interactive classroom space featuring a stock ticker around its perimeter where students analyze a vast array of financial and economic data and conduct interactive trading transactions that simulate the actions of professional traders and financial institutions.

FREE TIME! HOW ARE YOU GOING TO SPEND IT?

There are 168 hours in a week. Students are in class for approximately 20 of those. How are you going to spend your time outside of those 20 hours? HPU has long understood that the college experience should be more than just time in the classroom. During your HPU tour, your guide can speak with you about all of the extracurricular activities that will truly make HPU your home away from home.

To help us address what interests you, finish this sentence for us. “You’ll most often find me...”

Front row at an HPU basketball game inside the Qubein Arena showing off my HPU pride. Face paint, pompoms and all!

Enjoying goat yoga or rock wall climbing with HPU Rec! I’m also up for joining one of HPU’s 35 club sports teams or 300 intramural options. If not that, you’ll find me at one of the many fitness facilities, pickleball courts or enjoying a weekly group fitness class.

Going for a walk in the HPU Gardens. There are 30 different garden escapes spread throughout HPU’s campus. Year-round you can find me in the Cain Conservatory, a tropical oasis. In spring, I’ll be strolling through the Sculpture Garden admiring artwork and enjoying the sound of nearby Hayworth Park fountains.

Volunteering! HPU has so many opportunities to get involved on campus and in the local community. Students contribute more than 500,000 hours of service annually and I love being part of that.

At the weekly food truck meet-ups! They’re a free and fun place to meet up with friends while we’re making plans around HPU’s next on-campus concert or carnival!

On your tour, you’ll see a freshman residence hall and get an inside-look at an actual dorm room. You’ll also enjoy a broader view of the HPU housing options that you can experience over all four years of living on campus.
