LIST FOR RESIDENT STUDENTS Welcome to High Point University!

Appliances:

n Desk lamp (PLEASE—no halogen floor lamps)* n Extension cords and adapters (power strip)* n Alarm clock* n Iron n Air Fryer, etc. (Anything with a coil burner is not allowed – no toasters, toaster ovens or candle warmers) n DVD player, television, microwave, mini fridge, gaming systems n Coffee maker n Hair dryer, curling iron, flat iron, etc. This list of suggested items has been developed to help you organize and pack for residential living at High Point University. Some of the items included in the list are optional and are not necessary for survival on campus. Items that are considered essential are highlighted by an asterisk (*).

Linens and towels:

n Bed sheets – 2 sets (Regular twin size, except R.G. Wanek

Center and UC2 which have full-size beds, both fitted and flat)* n Pillow and pillowcases* n Blankets* n Bedspread or comforter* n Towels and washcloths* n Shower caddy n Mattress cover (XL twin mattresses are available upon request; please log onto the housing portal at www.highpoint.edu/myhome with your HPU credentials and submit your request via the

Contracts/Forms page.)

Personal items:

n Toiletries (soap, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.)* n Toilet paper* Additional items:

n First aid kit (aspirin, adhesive bandages, etc.)* n Laundry basket or bag* n Small vacuum cleaner* n Clothes hangers* n Paper products (paper towels, cups, plates, etc.) n Safe for valuables n Flashlight and batteries n Cleaning products* n Small tool box (hammer, screwdriver, etc.) n Kitchen items (cups, plates, silverware, etc.) n Flash drive n Purple shirts to wear on #HPUPurpleFriday

• TVs may not be mounted on walls.

• Candles and incense are not allowed in the residence halls.

• If curtains are installed, they must be hung with a “tension” rod only. All windows have blinds.

• Please be sure that your personal belongings are either covered by your parents’ insurance or some separate form of insurance in the event of damage or loss.

• We also encourage the use of surge protectors.

• If you plan to bring a computer to campus, please go to www.highpoint.edu/IT and click on minimum requirements.

Any computer related questions can be referred to the IT HelpDesk at 336-841-9147. Each residence hall has specific amenities that are provided; please see below for a full listing:

Belk Hall, Finch Hall, McEwen Hall, Millis Hall, North Hall, Wesley Hall and Yadkin Hall

Wanek Center & UC2
