Senator Yee to Help Protest Against UCSF for Job Losses Senator Leland Yee will join labor leaders, patients and hospital workers in order to bring growing concerns of the UC Medical system to the forefront. This will also protest the recent dissolution of 300 jobs at the UCSF Medical Center. While losing these jobs means less staffing and inadequate care for patients, the UCSF Medical Center has not made any budget gains. Instead they have increased management staff by 19%. According to Yee, ““These layoffs will result in worse care for patients and may have deadly consequences. When it comes time to honor the hardworking men and women who truly keep our medical centers and universities running, the administration turns their backs. CIVIL RIGHTS DEMONSTRATIONS ruptcy occur? Will there be civic non-violent demonstrations when that undesired tipping point is passed?

Civil rights demonstrations are a form of protest which publicize disappointment, support, frustration and anger. In many instances residents of a community may resort to non-violent demonstrations to show authorities that what is being enforced or practiced is very unacceptable. The people, as individuals, often do not have any power to influence authorities without first organizing advocacy groups which then communicate concerns. Civil unrest and anger about some issue which is very important to the people is what initiates demonstrations. Throughout history civic demonstrations have been utilized to implement changes in society and governments. Violent demonstrations routinely occurred throughout recorded history. It was Mahatma Ghandi of India who first used non-violent demonstrations to contest the colonial governance practices of British Empire authorities. Ghandi said, “A nation’s greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members.” America’s weakest today are the uninsured impoverished residents who need health care services, education, and ‘living wage jobs’. Today, several major issues are causing civic unrest. These include immigration reform, income disparities, access to education or health care, and unfair taxation practices. Many are very concerned about the current economy and its relationship to the national debt. At which point does national bank-

Many jurisdictions, such as the City of San Jose, are trying to resolve unfunded pension obligations which require years to renegotiate. In California, Governor Brown is proposing ‘education equity reform’, which may not happen even though the Democrats have majorities in both the Assembly and State Senate. Why? Simply because, those that have and control resources do not want to ‘share’ them in an equitable manner. How will uneducated youth, especially Hispanics, going to become the skilled labor force which industry will employ? One solution is to have more corporations develop internships and apprenticeships. One gross disparity is well known, but no solution is evident for ‘income disparities’. This income disparity has led to the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ civil demonstrations. This income disparity may be mitigated if the ultra-wealthy were to begin payment of a fair share of taxes. Our government, at all levels…. federal, state, local, and district require tax revenues with which to operate. Those operations include providing food, shelter, education, health care, mental health services and all other services which ensure community safety, security and commerce. Getting back to civic demonstrations, the American people need to look for, and find, the next Mahatma Ghandi, Martin Luther King, and/or Cesar Chavez amongst their ranks. These were civil rights leaders who developed and practiced various forms of non-violent civic disobedience. These non-violent efforts were powerful. India received its independence as a nation; in America, desegregation began in schools,

These gains were all made on ethical and moral grounds which are universal religious values applied by Ghandi, King, and Chavez. Today, the U.S. Supreme Court is deliberating the issue of marriage. The real issue is ‘committed consensual unions of (two men) or (two women), not marriage between consenting couples (one man/one woman). The real issue is the hundreds of social and economic practices which define the family unit. Certain social and institutional practices are the issue. One such is the practice of hospitals, in some instances, not allowing the partner of a LGTB patient to have hospital visitation rights. Another has to do with taxed estate transfers to the surviving member of a committed long term relationship. These consensual committed relationships are not accepted as being ‘families’ even when adopted children are involved. Heterosexual couples get all the social acceptance and tax deductions. Why not any established committed union? Prophetically, Dr. M.L. King, Jr. said, “History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.” He also stated, “He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps perpetuate it. He who accepts evil without protest against it is really cooperating with it.” All are involved. Share your personal views. This community’s residents need to learn to live and let live together. Hopefully we can do that much before a major violent civil rights demonstration occurs. Or maybe that is what will trigger resolution of these matters.

Una de estas se desarrollo debido a un comercial de que escuchamos. Era sobre cómo los jóvenes necesitamos revisarnos para no contagiarnos de las enfermedades de transmisión sexual. Yo comentaba de cómo mi mamá siempre nos hablaba de hacer las cosas a la edad apropiada. Ella nos advirtió acerca de crecer demasiado rápido y como más tarde en la vida lo lamentaríamos. Además ella hablaba de ser consciente de tener que practicar sexo seguro si eso iba a ser nuestra decisión. Ella siempre ha sido una persona
Los padres de mi pareja decidieron ser más conservadores y no hablar de esas cosas. Creo que es cuando los padres se equivocan un poco. Deben de tener suficiente confianza y sentirse cómodos para hablar con sus hijos acerca de las actividades sexuales y lo que eso puede significar, aunque podría ser un poco incómodo al principio. Ellos necesitan saber que pueden hablar con sus padres sobre ese tipo de cosas, sobre todo para obtener información correcta. No creo que sea una buena idea promover abstinencia para toda su vida tampoco. Creo que con el tiempo estarán mentalmente lo suficientemente maduros como para tomar decisiones inteligentes acerca de lo que quieran hacer con su pareja. Higher Wages are Proving Their Worth
Distracted Driving Awareness Month On March 27 CHP Golden Gate Division hosted a Start Smart class in anticipation of April being Distracted Driving Awareness Month. 25 Students were accompanied by their parents and learned the first few years behind the wheel are critical for teenage drivers. In addition, the class brought a sense of reality along with the consequences for teenage drivers and their parents who don’t always take the responsibility of driving seriously.
Ben Field & Scott Knies SPECIAL TO EL OBSERVADOR San Jose’s minimum wage increase to $10 an hour took place March 11, but some businesses are already seeing positive results by giving their employees raises early. Pizza My Heart, a San Jose institution, gave its lowest wage employees a raise to $10 an hour just weeks after Measure D passed in the November 2012 election. Owner Chuck Hammers says he sees happier employees and a higher quality of job applicants than ever before. The best employees from his restaurants in other cities clamor to work in San Jose. San Jose voters, supported by a broad coalition of labor, non-profits, community groups and students, passed the minimum wage initiative by a strong majority – 59 percent. Now that the measure is set to begin, the San Jose business community is partnering with the coalition in a new campaign to highlight the many reasons to shop and dine in San Jose. Increasingly, consumers are taking ethical considerations into account when they shop. We believe the higher wage in San Jose can be a selling point for San Jose businesses. We want to make sure customers know that busi-
nesses in San Jose will have the same great products with an even better standard of service. In the coming days, look for the slogan, “Earn ‘n Spend in San Jose” to guide you to restaurants and shops that pay their minimum wage employees a higher rate than anywhere else in Silicon Valley. These are the kinds of businesses the community ought to be aware of and support. Patronizing San Jose businesses is the right thing to do in more ways than one. The higher minimum wage will be good for workers and good for business. There’s already a buzz among workers in surrounding communities who want jobs in San Jose. When employees feel valued, they are more productive and more dependable, resulting in a higher quality of service and lower turnover costs. Hammers is happy with his decision to raise wages months ahead of the law’s start. His business is trending up since the wage increase so he’s considering raising his employees’ wages in other cities, where it’s not even required. He is an example of a business owner who is doing well by acting responsibly. The minimum wage increase will benefit the entire
city by stimulating the local economy to the tune of tens of millions of dollars. Economic analysis of the impact of the $2 wage increase shows that San Jose will gain an additional $70 million a year in consumer spending as San Jose workers put their extra income back into local businesses. The higher wages will also make these workers less dependent on government programs and charity. Organizations like Sacred Heart Community Service and United Way of Silicon Valley rallied behind the wage increase because many of their clients are minimum wage earners who cannot otherwise make ends meet without their help. Efforts to raise the minimum wage are gaining momentum across the country. While San Jose is leading the pack in Silicon Valley, President Obama proposed a federal minimum wage increase last month in his State of the Union address. We know consumers in the valley have a wide choice of dining and shopping, and there is a growing awareness that creating happier, healthier, more prosperous communities is well worth the investment. So spend in San Jose, where workers earn a higher wage.

Traffic collisions are the leading cause of death for 15 to 20 years old, and the program is aimed to reduce these traffic fatalities through education. The Start Smart class addressed collision avoidance techniques, California traffic laws, traffic collision trends, and driver
responsibilities. “I figured there would be pictures and videos because kids just don’t think it will happen to them and it does. They think they’re invincible,” said Tina Romero, a parent attending the class with her daughter. “The class was very beneficial because it also reminded me about my responsibilities as a driver and stressed the importance of my role as a parent with a new driver.” “We hope the public understands that we want education to come before enforcement. We want people to make good choices and prevent collisions. Unfortunately though, statistics show fatal collisions involving distracted driving are increasing. We have to do better and get California drivers to be
attentive when driving,” said CHP Golden Gate Division Chief Teresa Becher when asked about Distracted Driving Awareness Month. “The cellular phone law is having the 5th anniversary this July. So you can absolutely plan on getting stopped if you’re illegally using your cell phone. Also if you’re eating a bowl of cereal or reading a newspaper while driving, and unaware that the Highway Patrol Officer is next to you, you will meet. We are going to do what it takes to get people to understand that when they’re in the driver’s seat, they need to do one thing and that’s drive.” The CHP is offering Start Smart classes throughout the Bay Area in the month of April.

Podría perjudicarle a usted mismo, si realmente se hace uno. Por lo general, los tatuajes temporales suelen durar de tres días a varias semanas, dependiendo del producto utilizado para colorear y del estado de la piel. Tips On Improving Your Communication Skills
(NAPS) Experts agree that communication is key to success, no matter what your line of work. One of the first steps to becoming a better communicator is being more self-aware so that you can better understand the situation, your audience and your role in the conversation. That’s the word according to Dr. Annie Shibata, faculty member in Walden University’s B.S. in Communication program. In order to become more conscious of what you are trying to communicate and how you are going about it, Dr. Shibata suggests reflecting on the following questions: • What is my communication goal? Consider your shortand long-term goals as well as what action, information or commitment you want as a result of your communication— both now and in the future.

• Am I deliberate and conscious in how I communicate? Be conscious of both your oral and written communication. Remember, when speaking, it’s estimated that the total impact of a message is about 7 percent verbal (words only), 38 percent vocal (including tone of voice, inflection and other sounds) and 55 percent nonverbal. • Do I know who my audience is? Try to be aware of various factors, such as cultural differences, that may exist within your audience and can play a role in how the message is received. • Am I aware of my emotions when I communicate? Think about your emotions and how appropriate they are for the situation to determine if you’re prepared. In situations such as asking for a raise from your supervisor, it’s important to be clear and unemotional
and focus on communicating what you’ve been doing well. • What nonverbal message am I communicating? Consider how you sit or stand, your facial expressions and how you’re dressed. Most of the messages we send other people when communicating are nonverbal. • Am I an honest communicator? Do you state your needs and desires clearly? Do you communicate with integrity? The answer to all of these should be “yes.” • Am I listener focused? Do you often use slang, idioms, acronyms or technical jargon? Such language can exclude some or all of your audience. Be clear and concise in your communication and consider how the listener is following and understanding your message.

Willow Glen High School Mock Trial Team Recognized San José CALIFORNIA The San José Unified Board of Education recognized the Willow Glen High School Mock Trial Team for winning the Santa Clara County High School Mock Trial Tournament on February 28th, as well as for their stellar performance at the Constitutional Rights Foundations 32nd Annual California Mock Trial Finals in Riverside, CA. Willow Glen made it to the state finals in Riverside after winning the county competition with an undefeated record. This was the second year in a row that the team made it to the county final. They joined 33 other schools from across the state for a four round final that lasted from Friday to Sunday. In the first round the team beat Pacific Grove High School of Mon-
terey County; lost to Menlo School of San Mateo County in the second round; narrowly lost a third round match up against Monroe High School of Los Angeles County;

With 12 talented veterans returning next year, “we intend to make sure La Reina High School doesn’t win for a fourth year in a row,” said Coach Jim Scharf. While Willow Glen didn’t come home with a state title they did win three awards, including: Adult Advocate of the Year, awarded to Coach
Jim Scharf; Top Prosecutor, awarded to the team’s captain, senior Anni Guptill, and; Best Pin, awarded to the team for their creative pin “Suit Up”. Speaking to the team’s accomplishments, Board President Pam Foley said, “My colleagues and I are all so very proud of what this year’s team accomplished, especially in just the short three years they’ve existed. Their success was achieved through the commitment of the team members and the tireless dedication of their Coach, Jim Scharf.” Mrs. Foley presented the team with a congratulatory certificate, as well as individual recognitions to team Coach Jim Scharf and team captain and Student Board Member Anni Guptill in acknowledgement of their state wide awards.

Same Sex Marriage Supporters Rally in Red Arturo Hilario EL OBSERVADOR
On Wednesday, March 27, 150 rallies around the United States were held to bring to light the issue of marriage equality and it’s surmounting issues within the federal government and our own society. In 2008, California’s Prop 8 amended the right for same-sex couples to wed, making any previous marriages of that type invalid in the eyes of the government. The decision by the Supreme Court to review and possibly overturn Prop 8, making same-sex marriage a constitutional right, has rehashed the pains, passions, and arguments on both sides of the issue. On the day of the rallies, San Jose City Hall had a group of supporters at its sidewalk wearing red clothing in solidarity with samesex marriage. They held signs up that read, “I Want to Get Married One Day” and “It’s so hard to find love in this world that when you find love, you must celebrate it”. As cars passed Santa Clara Street they would honk and
wave at the organizers who enthusiastically chanted and displayed their signs. The organizer of the rally was Téa Beradze, a volunteer who has been part of several organizations such as Pflag (Parents, Families, & Friends of Lesbians and Gays) and the Billy DeFrank LGBT Community Center. This was the first rally that she had organized and seemed delighted by the support she received from the community. For Téa, one of the reasons for being out on March 22nd was “to show the community that we support marriage equality, it is a civil right issue. Silence is not always golden.”
Both she and her husband were there to show community support for the issue of same-sex marriage, and to highlight the negative effects of Prop 8 and similar bans on civil rights because of sexual orientation. In her opinion, it affects friends and families as much as the person who is not validated in marriage because of the ban. So, in her eyes, it was good to see people from all walks of life there pushing for awareness. “I know we can do this. Our community is so diverse. inspired owner Ted Kim during his six month visit in Europe, where he experienced beer culture in Germany, Belgium, and the Czech Republic. “During those 6 months there was something so different and unique about the beer culture that’s in Europe, as opposed to the beer culture that’s here,” said Kim. “There’s a little more sophistication for the way that people perceive beer in Europe. I don’t know what it was, but I wanted to bring some of that back here to the United States Steins menu features 30 different beers on tap with a focus on West Coast breweries, as well as a “beer runner” program in which customers are brought small amounts of various beers to sample.

“What I want to try to squash is that beer only tastes one way. There’s a beer for everybody. We’ll find something for you” said Kim. The beer menu also features fruit beers imported from Belgium. Kim has also ensured that each server is educated about the beer available by creating an in-house beer program that covers the fermentation process, proper temperature and controlling environment
for different beers as well as specific tastes. Although the influence is European, the menu is focused on what Kim and Executive Chef Colby Reade call “ Modern American Gourmet comfort food” such as pretzels, ribs, grilled cheese and burgers. “It’s going to evoke those homey mom’s meals kind of feeling,” said Reade, who most recently worked with Wolfgang Puck Catering. Reade said, that as often as possible, ingredients for their dishes will be organic and come from local farms. Reade said they will produce most products in-house to ensure freshness. “We will make it an allscratch kitchen, make our own bread daily, do all our own butchering, make a lot of our own cheeses and stuff. We have a smoker in house produce as much inhouse as we can,” said Reade. With its communal style tables and a 4,000 sq. foot beer garden Kim said “When you have a set-up where you have to sit next to strangers, over beer, you end up just having a better time.”

On April 1, activists rallied in downtown Oakland to demand full citizenship rights for all and to open borders. “The bipartisan framework in Congress is completely flawed and unsupportable because it leaves the overwhelming majority of undocumented people with no guarantee of ever achieving full citizenship. We can shape the contours of the final bill if we mobilize and fight for a set of demands that provide the immigrant communities with a positive program to mobilize around,” said Raul Cruz, BAMN attorney and organizer. “We need a defined, quick, inexpensive and easy process for undocumented people to get green cards and become citizens. It is absurd to tie the citizenship rights of millions of people to the federal bureaucracy’s capacity to enforce airtight visa controls or to the political exigencies of Southwestern governors and attorneys-general, as the “Bipartisan Framework” does.” The rally began in the Fruitvale District because it is the heart of the Latina/o and immigrant communities in Oakland. Mary Moreno Richardson, Reverenda Episcopal en San Francisco, trabaja con niños en detención, separados de sus padres y esperando su deportación. “Es un trauma que traen estos niños pero también una esperanza….todas las historias de estos niños es una tristeza,” dijo Rev. The future of filmmaking has arrived with Film School Shorts KQED Public Television is proud to announce its national production ‘Film School Shorts,’ a half-hour weekly series that showcases short student films from across the country. Each filmmaker has the potential to become the next star filmmaker, and each short film will make you laugh, gasp and empathize, sometimes in the same breath. The featured films — quirky comedies, slice-of-life dramas and hard-hitting thrillers — have won awards (how does an Oscar sound?), and wowed audiences at some of the most acclaimed film festivals in the world: Cannes, Sundance, Toronto and South by Southwest. The series premieres Monday, April 15, at 11pm on KQED 9 and will air on public television stations around the country in the upcoming months (check local listings). ‘Film School Shorts’ is part of IndieNOW.

Head to ‘Feast of Words: A Literary Potluck’ on the third Tuesday of each month to discover local chefs and writers, bring a dish on the monthly theme and share your on-the-spot writing to be entered in a drawing for edibles, books and other prizes! On Tuesday, April 16, 7 to 9pm, ‘Feast of Words: A Literary Potluck’ features a reading and writing exercise led by Raquel Gutiérrez, founder of several queer women of color, community-based art and literary projects. Gutiérrez is a performer, writer, actor, curator, playwright, and cultural organizer. She has written on queerness, music, film, performance and community building, in addition to creating original solo and ensemble performance compositions. Gutiérrez has studied and graduated from both community and university settings, but really
got her art education at Jabberjaw, an all-ages punk rock venue in Los Angeles that she has written about, as well as at Highways Performance Space, where she interned and house managed in the year 2000. Gutiérrez is a co-founding member of the performance ensemble, Butchlalis de Panochtitlan (BdP), a community-based and activist-minded group, aimed at creating a visual vernacular around queer Latinidad in Los Angeles. Gutiérrez also co-founded other queer women of color projects and Los Angeles-specific projects: Tongues, A Project of VIVA and Epicentro Poetry project. Gutiérrez has published work, most recently in “Ambientes: New Queer Latino Writing,” edited by Lázaro Lima and Felice Picano. Currently, Gutiérrez is working on a few essays about her favorite performance artists and the state of art and community-building, as well as a novel. Formerly the Manager of Community Partnerships for Cornerstone Theater Company, a leader in community-based theater making in the United States, Gutiérrez now calls the Bay
Area home. She now manages a program in arts community engagement for Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Culinary guest, Jenn Hartman, anchors the evening’s potluck. As always, guests can bring a dish, take part in a writing exercise and share the work they have created for a chance to win literary and culinary prizes. Hartman is a self-taught baker, musician, and writer living in Oakland. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Hartman’s cooking is influenced by punk ethics of accessibility, shared resources, making things from scratch, and beauty in simplicity. Hartman focuses on seasonal eating, demystifying foodmaking processes, and vivid flavor combinations. When not in the kitchen or on a bike, Hartman plays drums in an indie punk band called Salt Flat, operates a D.I.Y. record label under the name Most Gross Cassettes, and self-publishes zines. Mario Jiménez Castillo EL OBSERVADOR Jesús Malverde es un personaje del folclor mexicano, se dice que nació en el estado de Sinaloa alrededor de la década de1870. Según relata la leyenda, Malverde era un bandido que robaba a los ricos para repartir el botín entre los pobres, una especie de ¡Robin Hood mexicano! Por tal motivo muchas personas le veneran como a un santo. La iglesia católica se ha pronunciando en contra de tal veneración pues considera que no existen pruebas que sustenten su santidad y vida heroica para que se tome en cuenta como candidato a la beatificación. Aún así, existen en el presente varias capillas construidas en su honor en Culiacán, Badiraguato, Chihuahua y Tijuana; su fama de ser muy milagroso ha sobrepasado las
fronteras de México y ya existen capillas que le veneran en ciudades como Cali, Colombia y Los Ángeles, California. A Jesús Malverde se le conoce como “El ángel de los pobres”, “El bandido generoso” y “El santo de los narcos”. Malverde era conocido en toda la región de Sinaloa como un personaje que ayudaba a la gente pobre y a los más necesitados, se dice que asaltaba a los más adinerados para procurar ayuda a mendigos, enfermos y desamparados. Se cree que sus propios padres murieron de hambre cuando él era un niño y por ello surgió en él, el deseo de ayudar y proteger a todos aquellos que eran víctimas de la explotación de los terratenientes. Según la tradición popular se cree que antes de convertirse en bandido, se había desempeñado como albañil
u obrero de las líneas férreas. Trabajó en la obra del ferrocarril occidental de México y en la del ferrocarril sur-pacífico que llegó a Culiacán alrededor del año 1905. Sobre su muerte existen varias versiones populares, una de ellas relata que el General Francisco Cañedo, amigo cercano de Don Porfirio Díaz, ofreció una gran recompensa por su captura, otra señala que uno de sus amigos cercanos lo traicionó y lo entregó a las autoridades para cobrar la recompensa.

Raúl y Mexia llegaron “Arriba Y Lejos” en el hometown record release party Rocky Rivas ESPECIAL PARA EL OBSERVADOR Finalmente llego el día en donde tenían que demostrarle a la gente de su ciudad natal de que están hechos. Los jóvenes talentos de Raúl y Mexia comenzaron a preparar todo lo necesario desde horas de la tarde en el Club Pagoda del hotel Fairmont en el centro de San José, este show tenía que ser especial. Era donde amigos y familiares estarían presentes al igual que varios medios Hispanos del área. Ya cerca de las 9:00pm comenzaron a llegar los invitados entre ellos el padre de estos chavos que hizo acto de presencia para apoyarlos, se dice que lo bueno viene en paquetes pequeños y así quedo demostrado ya que el club es de tamaño discreto, pero cómodo y con gran sonido, haciéndose diferenciar de muchos antros locales en donde algunas de las veces el precio del cover es exagerado y los lugares dejan mucho
que desear por falta de higiene y comodidad. Acá el Pagodas nos demostró que los hispanos también podemos tener acceso a divertirnos en lugares dignos de nuestra comunidad. Pero dejemos eso para otra historia, ahora enfoquémonos en la presentación de estos chavos, yo sé que esta frase se escuchara chocante, pero en esta ocasión encaja con el momento vivido, demostrando que hijo de Tigre, pintito. Puesto que las expectativas que los rodeaban eran altas debido a que las últimas semanas habían sido entrevistados en muchos medios importantes como NY Times, LA Times, CNN, Mercury News y sin faltar, este mismo medio. La hora de la verdad había llegado, Raul y Mexia subieron al escenario e inmediatamente se sintió esa mezcla de ritmos que los hermanos Hernández habían logrado combinar. Así como se hace con los perfumes caros o las medicinas milagrosas, ellos
nos invadían con ese ritmo pegajoso que hacia mover nuestros cuerpos para hacernos bailar y así comenzó el desfile de los temas de su reciente disco Arriba y Lejos salido a la venta apenas escasas semanas atrás y que fue producido por el mago de la música y ex control machete Toy Selectah que al igual se presentó en este show para brindar apoyo a estos chavos, los cuales yo estoy seguro que por mérito propio este dúo al cual podríamos llamarlos producto de la casa o hijos del bay área, llegaran muy arriba y nos seguirán sorprendiendo con más fusiones musicales y buenos ritmos. Tenemos que sentirnos orgullosos, querido barrio de San José! Así como dice el vox populi. Ha nacido una estrella, pero en esta ocasión son dos y se llaman Raúl y Mexia y sigamos apoyando a nuestros chamacos, a nuestros talentos locales para que el bay área siga siendo cuna de grandes estrellas.
Rocky Rivas ESPECIAL PARA EL OBSERVADOR El pasado viernes y sábado, además de haber sido santos fueron musicales. Tuvimos 2 días en los que bailamos y saltamos hasta no sentir las piernas. Y todo eso fue a a causa de la visita de grandes músicos. Todo dio inicio el viernes 29 de marzo, cuando llegaron a los terrenos de la feria de San Jose. “El Tri” acompañado de “El Haragan y CIA.” Y el ritmo sabrosón del Grupo “Kual” quienes pusieron a bailar a una multitud de más de 2000 personas que asistieron a este evento que fue llamado “El mega evento del año” y al cual gracias a mi amigo el Morro de “la casita chilanga” tuvimos la oportunidad de cubrir este gran evento, en el que los rockeros y cumbiamberos se dieron cita en grandes números. Cientos de jóvenes que portaban ya la clásica playera negra con los logos e imágenes de su banda favoritas, además de los clásicos peinados punks, flecos y pelos
parados y por supuesto la clásica greña larga. Armaron tremendas filas para poder ingresar desde horas antes del inicio del concierto al cual convirtieran en una gran pista de baile desde el inicio de la tocada.
donde no hubo diferencia de edad, lugar de origen o genero musical, donde rockeros y cumbiamberos se mezclaron con el solo fin de gozar y bailar hasta sudar la gota gorda con sus éxitos musicales por casi una hora.
Luis Álvarez “El Haragán” y compañía saltaron al entarimado alrededor de las nueve de la noche para calmar las ansias de sus seguidores que tuvieron que esperar mucho tiempo debido a una larga ausencia de esta banda por estos rumbos. El Haragán ha llegado a ser una de las bandas de rock urbano más queridas en muchos rincones mexicanos e internacionales, manteniéndose en el gusto de todos aquellos amantes del rock de ese género y 100% chilango.
Poco después que la adrenalina bajara y en un breve descanso el cual fue amenizado por el Sonido Vago llegaba el momento esperado. Cuando el rey del rock Azteca acompañado por su talentosísima banda, se apoderada del escenario y con su saludo peculiar encendiera a toda la concurrencia y la pusiese a saltar. Entre éxitos, chistes y comentarios chuscos, nos hizo pasar un buen rato. Haciéndole olvidar todas sus penas y broncas a toda banda rockera del área de la bahía y sus alrededores. Un poco de nostalgia y buenos recuerdos nunca nos caerán mal, y la neta de las netas es que como el buen Alex Lora y el Tri de México. No habrá nada igual. Larga vida al TRI y al buen rock Mexicano.
Ya para calmar las ansias del público que ya experimentaba el hambre de más música llegaron desde el barrio de San Juan de Aragón D.F. el grupo “Kual”. Los cuales al grito de abuelita soy tu nieto! Y con sus ritmos charanguero hicieron que el termómetro musical subiera a su máximo punto. Acá es

We live in a time where we’re always on the go, always in a hurry from one place to another doing a million and one things. We are just busy beings and as such we feel the need to have with us all the necessary items to keep us moving.
And where do we store those items? Our bags of course. Women live for bags and it’s time we all admit it, men do too. I mean, why wouldn’t you want to carry around an item that reflects so much of yourself that also contains your most personal and valuable items? They say shoes can tell a lot about a man’s personality but they have never mentioned that a bag can do so as well. Man bags are no longer an uncharted territory for straight guys. Gone are the days when no straight man would be caught dead wearing a man bag. Nowadays they are all the rage. But lets explore what these so called man bags say about you or your guy.
The Messenger: This has to be the most popular man bag out there. Wearing a messenger says I’m cool and hip but I can also be nerdy and sexy. The effortless feel of these bags can just add a little casual feel to your nice work suit. My recommendation would be to get a leather messenger if you don’t already own one.
The Duffel: These bags are mostly for gym use but you can literally

San Jose Giants Unveil Improvements to Municipal Stadium for 2013 Season San Jose CALIFORNIA The San Jose Giants unveiled a number of improvements to Municipal Stadium designed to enhance player development and fan experience at the ballpark. Built in 1942, Municipal Stadium has been a place for families to gather and watch professional baseball for over seventy years, while it has served as the home for top San Francisco Giants prospects since 1988. During the offseason, the organization reinvested in the field. Players will benefit from a redesigned home bullpen, along with an upgraded warning track and redone infield. Each of these enhancements will make Municipal Stadium one of the best fields to play on in all of Minor League Baseball.
“We are committed to giving San Jose Giants players the tools and amenities they need to develop into major leaguers,” said Lance Motch, San Jose Giants Vice President of Ballpark Operations. “These improvements further that mission and are extremely important upgrades.” Fans visiting Municipal Stadium will notice significant improvements to amenities all around the ballpark, especially as they enter the gates and look up to see former San Jose players who have become San Francisco Giants. When walking through the concourse and taking their seats they will find a resealed stadium bowl. Protección de los ojos jóvenes en la era tecnológica

De hecho, según un estudio de Kaiser Family Foundation, la población de 8 a 18 años pasa más de siete horas y media con artículos electrónicos todos los días. Lamentablemente todo ese tiempo frente a la pantalla puede causar fatiga ocular y, en última instancia, afecta la salud ocular y la visión general de su hijo. Para ver objetos más cerca, los ojos automáticamente se ajustan inclinándose hacia adentro; las pupilas se achican para enfocar y los músculos oculares se ajustan para que podamos obtener una imagen clara. Como resultado, el uso prolongado de pantallas electrónicas puede irritar los ojos, y nublar o cansar la vista. La focalización intensa sobre una pantalla de video también produce menos parpadeo, y esto puede provocar lesiones oculares. Si bien no existe evidencia científica de que las com-
putadoras y los dispositivos electrónicos portátiles causen problemas de visión en forma directa, el uso de estos dispositivos en forma prudente puede ayudar a evitar el esfuerzo y la fatiga ocular, además de dolores de cabeza, visión borrosa y ojos secos. Para proteger la visión de sus hijos, tenga en cuenta estos consejos de Ameritas, proveedor líder de planes para la salud auditiva, visual y dental: »El uso prolongado de dispositivos electrónicos puede exacerbar los problemas oculares existentes; por lo tanto, los artículos electrónicos se deben usar con moderación. Limite el tiempo de exposición frente a la pantalla a dos horas o menos por día (incluidas actividades tales como mirar televisión, jugar con videojuegos y usar teléfonos celulares). »Fomente el parpadeo intencional mientras utiliza dispositivos electrónicos para refrescar los ojos con la humedad natural a fin de prevenir infecciones bacteriales, puntos secos y trastornos de la córnea. »Reduzca el esfuerzo ocular mediante la luz natural de ventanas y el uso de artefactos de iluminación con bom-
billas de poca intensidad. »Mantenga las pantallas de la computadora a una distancia de 20 a 28 pulgadas del rostro. »Practique la regla de los 20 para descansar los ojos. Cada 20 minutos, pídale a su hijo que mire, al menos, a 20 pies de distancia durante 20 segundos antes de volver a enfocar la atención nuevamente. »Muévase o cambie de posición periódicamente mientras utiliza el dispositivo. »Detecte signos de esfuerzo ocular mientras utiliza los dispositivos, tales como entrecerrar los ojos, fruncir el ceño frente a la pantalla o frotar los ojos. »Si siente molestias o tiene problemas de visión, programe una evaluación profesional con un oculista. Si se tiene en cuenta el tiempo que se pasa en la oficina frente a la pantalla de la computadora, muchos adultos generalmente utilizan dispositivos electrónicos durante la misma cantidad de tiempo o más que sus hijos. Si sigue estos consejos, no sólo dará un buen ejemplo, sino que protegerá su propia salud ocular.
