HARVARD COMMUNITIES INTRODUCES WESTERRA Regina’s newest complete community TO BEGIN SPRING 2015 The past year has been a pivotal time for Harvard Communities. With our current Regina communities of Fairways West, Edgewater and Greenside Terrace nearing completion, efforts have focused on the planning a new 489 acre mixed use community named Westerra.

In December of 2013, Harvard Developments and Forster Projects were successful in having “Westerra” included as one of four new growth areas in Design Regina – the City of Regina’s new Official Community Plan. In June of 2014, Council then selected Westerra to proceed through the municipal approval process in advance of other areas in the next growth phase. With winter approaching, the development team continues to work with the City of Regina planning department, as well as home builders, to lay the groundwork for site servicing to begin in spring of next year.

The vision for Westerra is to become Regina’s newest complete community by naturally fusing residential, retail and a business park into the site.

Conveniently located in west Regina on Dewdney Avenue, Westerra will be the closest, new community to downtown Regina and will offer quick access to major employment centers like the Global Transportation Hub, RCMP Depot, Pasqua Hospital and Regina Airport. Westerra will also provide a small-town feel by featuring beautiful parks and connecting pathways throughout the community. In addition to the residential plans, Westerra will feature “Horizons” - a unique shopping centre with large format retail complimented by a main street, boutique shops, and a grocer.

This shopping experience is designed to be unlike any other and will truly differentiate Westerra from any other neighborhood in Regina.

With the Hill Companies’ history of developing Regina going back more than 100 years, it is a great time to look to the future as our development team carries on this tradition with Westerra. Stay tuned for updates throughout the coming months as this new community begins to take shape.

MESSAGE FROM MO MO BUNDON It continues to amaze me how technology has evolved in recent years and the impact it has on both our professional and personal lives. Today’s technology allows us to instantly connect with our clients, colleagues, friends and family at any time, and all at the touch of a button. Even more impressive, these devices can be taken with us anywhere and accessed at any time throughout the day. This sort of technology – although convenient and valuable – begs the question of how much is too much? How far is too far?

How steep a price both professionally and personally might we pay handling situations at the swipe of a screen? We can be so consumed and focused on our smartphones, iPads and the next most innovative piece of technology that we completely miss what is going on around us; the smaller steps in life that can easily be circumvented with today’s technology. These instant connections are convenient and valuable, but at some point we must ask ourselves – what kind of connection are we truly making?

With this in mind, I’d like to share a video with you all that I’ve recently had the opportunity to view, it offers a message that puts our new way of communicating both personally and professionally into perspective. The video, “Look Up” by Gary Turk offers a unique perspective on how we rely on technology and ‘social’ media in our lives and how we often forget about true human interaction.

Perhaps many of you have already seen the video, as it went viral earlier this year. For those of you who haven’t, I welcome you to view the video and to those who have, I encourage you to re-visit and ask you to reflect on how you can make improvements in your own professional and personal interactions.

We are it seems all guilty of allowing our attention to wander, splitting our focus, having our thoughts roam; our world today encourages this type of behaviour. Instant information and connectivity is crucial; however I challenge all of you to take a step back and personally re-engage with your surroundings, your connections and see if you discover the power in the smaller steps in life.

When we reflect, let’s remember the power of communication and the impact of even small changes. Make that phone call rather than sending that email, look up, offer an opportunity for personal engagement, strike up that conversation, and see where these small steps may take you. Together, let’s ask ourselves, what kind of connection are we truly making?

EDITOR’S Rosanne MESSAGE Hill Blaisdell I never do this,... but today I am plagiarizing. And since I’m telling you, it’s more like borrowing a few prophetic words from another publication and fully admitting it. I am doing this only because the information I read in the Dallas Morning News written by a Leslie Barker was quite profound. As a company that cares very much about the well being of its employees, I had to share it. This is not just another top ten things to do for weight loss or better health, it’s a medically, statistically documented information guideline for longer life. Leslie begins by telling us we should never have lit that first cigarette, never tasted that first french fry, never stepped foot inside a fast-food restaurant or driven somewhere that we could have walked. We never should have turned up our noses at vegetables or let ourselves get those nasty sunburns. But,.. we did do all of that and more! Not to lose all hope though. Dr. David Johnson, chair of the department of internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center says there are 10 easy ways to add years to your life. So here goes....

It’s not just to remove spinach remnants from dinner. Flossing removes plaque, the bacterial film that forms along your gum line. Get rid of bacteria, and you lessen your chances of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and some forms of cancer, says Dr. Larry Korenman of Loveable Smiles in Richardson, Texas.

“Oral bacteria can create proteins that are found in artery walls and in the bloodstream,” he says, “causing blood to clot more easily. Infection in the mouth can cause its own small blood clots, which can enter the bloodstream.” Years added? More than six if you floss daily (which only 5% to 10% of Amer cans do), writes Dr. Michael Roizen in RealAge.

“It’s a great test,” says Radhika Vayani, an internal medicine doctor of osteopathy at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Ft. Worth.

“The 24-hour prep is the worst. You basically drink nasty stuff, and you have diarrhea. But you won’t feel the procedure. If they see a polyp, they get rid of it right then and there. That could save you from having colon cancer in five years.”Years added?

Lots. Nine out of 10 people whose colon cancer is discovered early will still be alive in 10 years, according to the American Cancer Society. Many will live a normal lifespan.

#3. STOP EATING BEFORE YOU’RE FULL

Most Americans eat and eat “till we’re so full we’re about to be sick,” says Vayani. “But it takes the body 15 to 20 minutes to say, ‘You’re full.’ “ Years added? Being 100 pounds overweight can subtract a decade from your life, according to an Oxford University study. So it stands to reason that maintaining a healthy weight and thus reducing your risk for diabetes, heart disease and various other unpleasantries would add at least some precious time to your life.

In a Centers for Disease Control study, only 32% of adults reported usually applying sunscreen. Yet this year in the U.S., 3.5 million people will get skin cancer and 76,000 more will develop melanoma, says the American Cancer Society. Every hour, someone will die from that deadliest form.

Years added? Possibly 20. The CDC study reported that someone who died of melanoma between 2000 and 2006 died two decades prematurely.

Although the sun doesn’t cause all melanomas, it does cause most. So slather on more sunscreen than you think you need to, more often than you think necessary

Yes, despite years and years of evidence proving all the nasty stuff it causes, “tons of people smoke,” Vayani says.Years added? “If you quit at age 30, you can increase your life by 10 years,” she says.

Quit at 40? Add nine years. 50? Six years. 60? Three.

#6. SLEEP

Not getting enough has been linked to memory problems, hearing problems, anger, high blood pressure, stroke, depression, vehicle accidents and obesity. A decades-long international study of 1.3 million people found “unequivocal evidence of the direct link” between lack of sleep and premature death, according to sleepbetter.org.

Years added? Hard to say, but if someone died in a car accident caused by sleep deprivation, for instance, that’s probably several decades.

“Exercise has been demonstrated over and over to be useful,” Johnson says. “Truth is, any level is of value.” Walking, he says “gets you outside, and some outside is good as long as you don’t overdo it. The best way to get Vitamin D is sunshine.”

Years added? At least three years. That’s the number from a study reported in the Lancet for people who exercised even 15 minutes a day.

Put another way, a story on WBUR-FM, Boston’s public radio station, reported that every minute you exercise adds seven minutes to your life.

#8. EAT PRODUCE

Benefits abound. Among them: Eating five or more servings per day — instead of a piddly three or fewer — reduces your risk of stroke by 26%, according to a study reported in Men’s Health.

Years added? Webmd.com reports that Seventhday Adventists, who typically follow a vegetarian diet, outlive those who don’t by three to seven years.

#9. CULTIVATE HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

Spending time with family and friends is “psychologically helpful,” Johnson says, adding that it “isn’t a cure-all; it won’t counteract a McDonald’s cheeseburger.” Vayani tells patients: “If you have people in your life who are negative, who are pulling you down, you have to get rid of that relationship. It affects you more than you realize.”

Years added? Nothing specific, but “studies have shown that people with more friends and people in healthy relationships live longer,” she says.

#10. BE GRATEFUL

“We experience great things all day long that we fail to acknowledge,” Johnson says. “I don’t want to sound new wave-y, but our health is more than just physical health. I see dozens of people who have illnesses that would lay you or me low, but they seem totally happy. How in the Sam Hill can that be? They’ve chosen to look at the good instead of the challenges.” Years added?

Maybe some, maybe none. “Even if I don’t live a long time,” Johnson says, “I’m happy with what I experience.”

Of all these noble suggestions, gratitude is the one gift that we truly give to ourselves,.... a gift which when we show it, transparently blankets those around us and a gift which soothes the longing of our egos to be something we are not or want something we are not divinely destined to have.

As I write this, I know that I need to mention Akiko McDougall, wife of Aaron McDougall who is my most important “right hand guy” and who heads up our Regina Leasing Team.

She sadly lost her battle with cancer and her precious life this past summer. Akiko wrote numerous communication updates during her journey to her family and friends,...in every email and even in her final days, her gratitude was pervasive and all empowering.

My editors message today is: Yes,....do the right things to live a healthy life, but above all be grateful for what you have and for the time that God has given us on this earth. Happy Reading!

NATALIE WHELPTON

We are all familiar with the clichés and quotes of the business world. The classic “work smarter, not harder” and “if you want something new, you have to stop doing something old.” Over time, these sayings tend to escape us, and just as many other old adages they tend to lose their impact on us. However, after sitting down for a chat with Natalie Whelpton from our HPMI Regina office, I was reminded of another classic cliché : “A company is only as good as its people.” When it comes to the Hill Companies, Natalie is a perfect example of the correlation between personal development and the success of a business. I recently had the opportunity to listen to Natalie tell her story of her journey within the Hill Companies, which has been anything but cliché.

Natalie was soon working alongside them back in her role as Executive Assistant to the Corporate Accounting team. In addition, she was gaining new work experience by assisting Dennis Nagel with residential land development. Her time in residential had her working on several unique projects including mortgage discharges for Westhill Park and the first designs of Fairways West. However, after twelve years with the Hill Companies, there was still another major change in store.

“Trustworthy and reliable are characteristics that come to mind when I think of Natalie” says Steve Enns, VP and General Manager of Harvard Property Management. “Since joining property management ten years ago, after having worked with other senior managers at Harvard for the previous 11 years, Natalie has faithfully provided executive support for myself, our general management and entire property management team; organizing so many details for us. She looks after busy schedules, travel, meetings and everything we ask, all according to our individual preference. I really appreciate her dedication to Harvard and the discreet way in which she handles her job.”

After asking Natalie what the best part about working with Harvard was, she replied with “....the people. You get to work with so many awesome and amazing people each day. And it’s not just management - it’s also the employees you get to know and work with everyday.”

She also speaks highly of her time with Mr. Fred Hill and what she learned from him. “It was an awesome and fascinating experience to be able to work with Mr. Hill” said Natalie. “It was amazing to listen to his stories , both personal and business related, of what he went through in his life and how hard he worked to grow this company.”

In terms of advice for people new to Harvard, Natalie focused on two main traits. “Hard work and a willingness to learn new things. If you have those in this company then the sky is the limit.”

Outside of the office, Natalie and her family are just as busy. If time allows, she likes to play and watch sports or head to the gym. She’s also a huge Rider fan and always looks forward to taking travel time with her family and friends throughout the year.

As summer came to a close and we welcomed the oranges, browns and yellows of fall, I felt it would be great to look back and highlight the fun and memorable summer we had at the Hill Companies. Although it was a busy season with several new projects and deadlines, our teams still managed to make time to host and participate in several events, truly showing our commitment to the community.

In our Regina offices, employees continued our longstanding relationship with the United Way by getting involved in their new “Summer Success” program. As part of the program, Harvard employees volunteered once a week at local inner city schools. While there, our volunteers helped out the students with various activities and reading programs aimed at keeping the students mentally active during the summer. Once the program was complete, Harvard donated backpacks filled with school supplies for each child who participated. The feedback from the program was incredibly positive and we are already looking forward to next year!

Despite battling some strong winds and bouts of rain, our “Harvard Crew” Dragon boat team had another strong showing at the 2014 Regina Dragon Boat Festival. After only three practices during the summer, the team came together on race day and “power-upped” our way to our best finishing time yet. There were a few close calls when it came to boat collisions but our fearless steerer, Victoria Gabel, (HPMI -Regina) kept us afloat down the track.

Thanks again to everyone who participated and hope to see you again next summer!

STRAIGHT FROM THE STREET Over in Manitoba, it was a summer full of tunes for our employees and tenants of 201 Portage. Throughout June, July and August, a special “Summer Concert Series” was organized that featured live local bands and artists performing in the courtyard of the office tower. The shows were held over the noon hour on Thursdays and were a massive hit with our tenants and the downtown public.

Business leaders from Winnipeg recently had the chance to experience homelessness first hand by spending a night in the courtyard of 201 Portage. The 4th Annual “CEO Sleepout” fundraiser was held on September 18th and had CEO’s from Winnipeg braving the elements and experiencing new challenges and struggles for a great cause. The goal of the fundraiser was to inspire and challenge the downtown business community to help address homelessness and support work programs for Winnipeg’s most vulnerable.

Our teams in Alberta enjoyed a successful summer, albeit a busy one, with many new projects being undertaken.

In order to celebrate and relax as a group, our Edmonton office threw a special BBQ earlier this month to show appreciation for all the hard work done over the summer.

Harvard gladly provided the barbecue food and supplies while employees got involved with a potluck and participated in a variety of fun activities.

It was no doubt a fun summer for everyone involved with the Hill Companies, and this was just a small handful of countless events. Although most of us might be sad to see summer go, we can look back on these memories and know we made the most of this short season and that the fall/winter months promise even more fun events to come!

Greetings from Brook, Indiana and beyond.

In the spring of 2013, we launched part one of Western Surety’s “E-Services” for Commercial Surety Bonding to streamline our bond issuance services for our brokers.

After the success of this initial launch, we are excited to be expanding this service for our Contract Surety business in 2014.

Quarter two for UFR was a very eventful and active time period for our facilities in Brook, Indiana and Clarion, Iowa.

Over the last four months, we have undertaken several new facility and machine upgrades aimed at increasing our production capability and efficiency.

At UFP in Brook, we are extensively testing and fine tuning the M3 pulp moulding machine and we are working to improve the packaging process as well.

We also made a major improvement on the M4 moulder that produces the four cup drink carrier for McDonalds.

The upgrade involved altering the moulding platen so we can make 17% more product. On top of this, we completely changed the stacking and packaging process on the M4 moulder to a UFP designed, high speed stacker to provide efficiency. Once this improvement has “settled in” on M4, we will add an automated vision system to check the product for quality. Although these changes required downtime to implement and production took the resulting step back, July ended up being our third best production month in history. In addition, we managed to set a new sales record for four cup drink carriers.

Over at Clarion Packaging, the team started an ambitious repair and upgrade program to improve its production efficiency. Improvements have been made in several areas of the facility, ranging from the pulping area to the printing/ packaging area and have continued into quarter three. Improvements in production are starting to be recognized, and with the additional upgrades that are being done, these changes will be fully implemented by the end of 2014.

The very user-friendly Western Surety E-Services section of our website, www.westernsurety.ca, allows our brokers to issue, print, and save Commercial and Contract Surety bonds on-line. The data is automatically merged into the bond forms, eliminating the risk of error when manually typing bonds. The bond and customer data are then electronically uploaded to our database. No need for brokers to send in copies of bonds via email, fax or mail.

The premium is automatically calculated and an invoice instantly provided.

As well, we have opened an online portal allowing brokers to access the Western Surety database to view information about their accounts, change bond status, and monitor expiring authorizations.

We are excited about these technological advances as they are the first of their kind in the industry. We hope to continue to increase efficiencies in our office as well as offices of our broker force as we head into the winter months.

CORPORATE NEWS Corporate Services Diane Armstrong

Harvard Western Insurance Garion Carlson Earlier in the summer, the team at Harvard Western Insurance launched our new “Company that Cares” advertising campaign. With our focus on the community, we have been able to extend our caring touch to not only our clients but to those we work beside each and every day. We started our spring initiative off strong by having ten of our employees spend time building houses with Habitat for Humanity and by entering a team into the KidSport Corporate Challenge. We are eager to enable our employees to be active in their community and give back to those around us. Harvard Western Insurance is proud to announce that our KidSport team of eight was able to raise a whopping $3200 through a series of fundraisers for the cause.

Back in July, one of our very own team members was struck by tragedy. We were quick to respond and host a fundraiser potluck/barbecue to support our co-worker’s family in their troubled times. Our employees banded together and were able to raise $950 which Harvard Western Insurance happily matched bringing the total amount raised to $1900.

Not only do we work hard in supporting our own in times of need, but we are prepared to respond to possible disasters such as those caused by the torrential downpour and flooding that occurred throughout Saskatchewan near the end of June. Our insurance agents were quick to implement Harvard Western Insurance’s five-step claims resolution process for any of our clients that require our assistance in their time of uncertainty. A majority of the claims have been resolved under the guidance and knowledge of our in-house claims manager, Leanne Thompson. Moving forward, we at Harvard Western Insurance look forward to continually getting involved in our community and showing those around us that we truly are the “Company that Cares!”

It was an eventful and busy summer season for our corporate accounting team. With audit and tax season wrapped up, we are now well into our semi-annual financial statement reporting and preparing for the upcoming budget season. To help make sure everything is completed on schedule, we were happy to have James Nixon and Archie Ledgerwood join us on a contract basis for the summer. James worked with us as a U of R co-operative education student this past winter and some of you may know Archie from his years of work with Notre Dame. We’d like to thank these two gentlemen for their hard work and dedication over the summer.

We received some bittersweet news in the summer.

Shortly after receiving her CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation, Maggie Liu decided to move to Calgary in anticipation of her family relocating from China. Maggie was a valuable member of our corporate accounting team and she will definitely be missed. We’d like to wish Maggie and her family the best of luck in their transition and new beginning in Calgary.

Back in May, Cathy Donald and Diane Armstrong attended the Timberline Users Group conference and brought back new templates and ideas for simplifying our accounting processes. You will have noticed some of these changes on the recently updated Corporate Expense Report available on UConnect under “Your Employee Services”. So far we have successfully imported many recurring invoices and journal entries. We will also be implementing a new job cost import template in the near future.

In the fall, we will welcome some new and returning faces to the 21st floor. We have two co-op students joining us from the University of Regina for the September to April term, Nancy Ogeta and Rumi Nakata. We are also happy to welcome back Cassandra Endicott from her maternity leave.

REAL ESTATE NEWS Leasing News Nicole Templeton/Michael Alport As the market continues to open up and the vacancy rate keeps rising, the leasing team has been working hard to secure renewals, satisfy existing tenants’ expansion needs, and attract new tenants. The following are deals that have been completed in the last six months: STEP has renewed its lease in Conexus Plaza for seven years, along with plans to complete some upgrades within the 9,554 square foot unit on the 3rd floor.

The Saskatchewn Crown Prosecutors have renewed their space in Conexus Plaza on the 9th floor for another five years. The unit is 12,242 square feet. Additionally on the remainder of the 9th floor, the Chief Coroner’s Office has also renewed its lease of 2,225 square feet for five years.

The Saskatchewan Filmpool Co-operative has renewed its 2,731 square foot space in 1822 Scarth Street for another two years.

The Ministry of the Economy has taken on a new lease within the Bank of Montreal Building, leasing the whole 10th floor of 10,809 square feet. The term is for three years and four months.

Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria will be a new addition to the main floor of Hill Centre Tower II. The Famoso franchise is a licensed, fast-casual pizzeria serving authentic Neapolitan pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven. An outdoor patio and a separate exterior entrance will be included in the fitout. Landlord’s work is expected to start shortly with a commencement date in the new year.

Dairy Queen has exercised its five year option to renew in its 3,671 square foot building at Normanview Crossing.

Regis Hair Salon has renewed its lease at Normanview Crossing. The term is for five years in the 1,035 square foot hair salon.

Mark’s Work Wearhouse has executed an option to renew for five years at its 7,863 square foot location at Thatcher Crossing in Moose Jaw. Old Navy has entered into its automatic renewal of five years at its 14,897 square foot location at Preston Crossing in Saskatoon.

Paradigm has relocated to Hill Centre Tower II on the 12th floor, leasing 8,092 square feet for ten years commencing at the beginning of September.

MacPherson Leslie & Tyerman LLP is expanding into the former Paradigm space on the 17th floor of Hill Centre Tower I. The law firm has completed a long-term extension for thirteen years on its contiguous floors 14-17 within the building.

Currents/Edmonton, AB Retailers continue to express strong demand for retail space at Currents. Under construction are two buildings, comprising of Mark’s Work Wearhouse, Petland, Thai Express, The Sushi Shop and Browns Social House.

Canadian Tire has also started an expansion of its store by another 25,000 square feet.

The next building that will be constructed will contain Mastermind Toys, Massage Heights, Believe Fit, Mucho Burrito and Rogers, among others. In addition, a Letter of Intent has been agreed upon for an 8,500 square foot The Keg restaurant.

The 60,000 square foot Currents Medical Wellness Centre facility is nearing completion, with occupancy slated for October. BROADCASTING NEWS REGINA STATIONS CONT’D Corporate Update/Cam Cowie It has been an exciting year for Harvard Broadcasting with lots of changes and more to come as we are now into the 2015 fiscal year which began on September 1st.

In September, our Red Deer station adopted the “CRUZ” brand and will now be known as 100.7 CRUZ FM (formerly the River FM). The new format will have the station playing Red Deer’s greatest hits from the 70’s to early 2000’s. With the change in Red Deer, Harvard Broadcasting will now have four stations operating under the “CRUZ” brand.

Chris Terpsma has been appointed to the position of Manager of Broadcast Engineering. In addition to his engineering responsibilities, Chris will be responsible for the technical requirements and strategic planning of Harvard Broadcasting’s radio stations and transmitter sites.

Brent de Kelver will be joining the corporate accounting and finance department as Accounts Payable Coordinator. In this newly created position, Brent will be responsible to ensure the 12 stations are achieving economies of scale and negotiating the best possible pricing and terms with our suppliers.

REGINA STATIONS Tom Staseson On Friday June 6th, Harvard Broadcasting’s three Regina radio stations (620 CKRM, 104.9 the WOLF and MY92.1) helped raise more than $125,000 during the “Sticks on Rose” street hockey tounrnament. The annual street hockey tournament raises funds for the Shooting Stars Foundation, which supports children’s charities and sporting programs. Held on Rose Street in front of Harvard Broadcasting’s downtown studios, the event was full of local hockey stars. These included Jordan Eberle of the Edmonton Oilers, former NHL’ers Jamie Heward and Mike Sillinger, and several of their closest NHL friends.

Held on August 25th, over 1,400 Mix listeners packed into MacDonald Island Park for our exclusive event. While there, they were treated to Canadian artists Kristina Maria and chart toppers MAGIC! The only way in was to win, or by donation to the Fort McMurray Food Bank. Prior to the event, for one day only, we encouraged Mix listeners to donate a minimum of 15 pounds of food to the Fort McMurray Food Bank. In return we hooked those individuals up with a pair of tickets to the Summer Mixer!

Over 1300 pounds Mix 103.7 FM accepting food donations for the local food bank of food rolled in, along with cash donations. Needless to say we were overwhelmed with the community’s generosity to support those in need.

Bryan Adams! The show was held outdoors on a beautiful summer evening at the Prairieland Park Grandstand in Saskatoon, with over 5,000 fans singing along to every word. Cruz FM Morning Show hosts Stacie & Joel introduced Bryan Adams to the stage, while the promotional Street Team, the “Cruzers”, greeted concert go-ers as they entered the show.

Cruz FM was honored to be chosen by Cameco as the title sponsor for a brand new event to Saskatoon, the “Cameco Cares Concert Series”.

This promotion will see a local hospital Performers take to the stage at the foundation receive ticket “Cameco Cares Concert Series” proceeds from a speciallyorganized concert each year for the next four years. This year’s inaugural event of the concert series took place in July and featured Canada’s own Barenaked Ladies. The event was held at the Delta Bessborough Gardens and was a complete sell out! 96.3 Cruz FM was on site at the Saskatoon Exhibition from August 5th through to August 10th. The “Cruzers” Street Team were on site each and every day playing a version of the popular Cruz contest “Name That Hit”. Cruz fans would hear a clip of a hit song, and if they identified the song correctly they would have their name entered into a draw to win a vintage 1988 5.0L Mustang Convertible! The Mustang, provided by Jubilee Ford, was on site with Cruz throughout the Ex as well as many other events throughout the summer.

The draw for the car was made live over the airwaves 96.3 CRUZ FM at the Saskatoon EX with the 1988 Ford Mustang Cruz the following morning with the lucky name being drawn from over 3,000 entries.

YORKTON | GX94 & FOXFM Kelsey Liebricht For GX94, the summer “Started with a Song”! For another year, the GX94 Backyard Concert was a huge success. This year we headed out to Moosomin, SK where winner Joan Marie Frape and her family & friends enjoyed a private concert from country recording artist Brett Kissel as well as a barbecue meal courtesy of GX94!

It doesn’t matter if there is rain, thunderstorms, or tornado warnings, the show must go on! On July 5th, the 24th annual GX94 Star Search Final at the Yorkton Exhibition was still a go despite some challenges from mother nature. In the end, we were excited to announced local girl, Shayna Scherbey, from Ituna, SK as our Star Search Champion!

Both GX94 & Fox FM found more ways to support the community over the summer months! Not only did GX94 hold two send-off pep rallies for our very own Yorkton Terriers, we also threw the RBC Cup Champions a parade to show off their accomplishment! While GX94 was helping celebrate, FOX FM’s Will & Reader went ahead and started a fundraising effort for the local SPCA called “Be a Link in the Chain Campaign”. They asked for 200 donations of $25 to go towards building a fence for the dogs at the SPCA. These funds would then be used build an outdoor fence so the dogs have an outdoor area where they can run free and not be leashed. Their efforts helped raise over $8,000 for the SPCA. Great job guys!

FOX FM also took part in the local summer parade…but this year we did something out of the ordinary. FOX FM organized a flash mob and labeled it “On the Run with FOX FM”, to happen twice in the middle of the parade! This was a huge success! With the video recorded, we uploaded it to Facebook and asked our listeners to “like” and “share” it. One listener that did both, won a pair of tickets (with hotel accommodations) to see Beyonce and Jay-Z’s “On the Run” tour in Winnipeg. A local woman posted a story about how she was mocked for baring her belly at the beach by some young adults. She took to Facebook with a post to call out the hurtful words stating that she is proud of her body that housed her beautiful children.

With this simple post, HOT 107 reached over 74 million people with over 2 million likes, over 200,000 comments and 200,000 shares. The story was picked up by local news but extended to other news outlets including the Huffington Post, papers in the UK and US, and People Magazine!

Once again 100.7 CRUZ FM was front and center at Red Deer’s annual Centerfest street festival. Hosting “The River Music Stage”, we were proud to present talented musicians who performed for festival goers throughout the day.

The annual event raises funds and awareness against rape, sexual assault and gender violence by having men walk a mile in high heel shoes. Congratulations to Brooke Pellerin, daughter of Crystal Pellerin (HDI Regina) on being selected to represent Saskatchewan on the U16 provincial team and to the AAA Midget Regina Rebels.

Congratulations to Jenny Brown (HPMI-Calgary) on the birth of her new son Pratt Lester Fry! Pratt was welcomed to the world on Saturday November 1st shortly after 6:00pm and weighed in at 8lbs 3oz.
