SOCIAL MEDIA “SMART”: HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF IN THE WORLD OF SOCIAL NETWORKING At the Hill Companies, we continue to harness the growing power and benefits of social media in our day to day business. Now more than ever, we are exploring and utilizing new ways to connect with our customers, partners, employees and even competitors through various social media networks. Whether it be Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or Linkedin, there is no doubt that social media is tightly ingrained into every aspect of our professional and personal lives.

However, as is the case with any powerful tool, social media can also be a doubled edged sword that, if used recklessly, may cause more harm than good.

At the end of the day, we at the Hill Companies realize the importance of social media in today’s world and want to encourage our employees to actively participate in these types of networks, albeit in a safe, and responsible manner. As a rule of thumb, try and imagine your social voice as an extension of your resume and that each post you send out will be going to all of your colleagues and managers. If something seems unacceptable to post, perhaps think twice and bring it up in a more appropriate setting.

There seems to be a growing number of cases lately that involve individuals who have suffered consequences as a result of inappropriate posts on social media. For example, In September 2014, an Elgin, Ill. police officer was fired for writing a racially charged post about the Ferguson, Mo. riots on Facebook. In December 2013, a PR executive for IAC, parent company for brands such as Match.com and Vimeo, lost her job after sending a “careless” tweet about AIDS in Africa.

And in November 2013, a customer service representative for DTE Energy in Detroit was let go after posting an expletive-filled rant about her job on Facebook.

Lastly, if you are ever in doubt, you can always access our Hill Companies Network User Guide that outlines proper use of social media in the workplace. The guide is a great resource to reference if you ever have any questions related to the use of social media and offers tips that translate to both the personal and professional aspects of social networking. You can find this guide on Uconnect or by contacting your manager or member of our Human Resources department.

Although these cases may be extreme examples, there are countless more cases of smaller lapses in judgement that occur nearly every day –to even the most experienced social media users. The ultimate lesson to be learned here is that social media is like Vegas, and what is posted online often stays online; leaving a momentary lapse in judgement open to be seen by potentially millions of people including potential customers, partners, and even colleagues. Each time we log onto these networking sites, we must be cognisant of what we are about to say and who might end up seeing it.

Today, I attended a breakfast event honouring an 82 yr. old Calgarian by the name of Jim Gray. Jim, over his lifetime, built great companies, led the charge on monumental community fundraising campaigns and received multiple awards and accolades on a National scale. But this was a different kind of honour.

Today, at the crack of dawn, like he has done everyday, Jim catapulted himself into the pool at the Eau Claire YMCA for his daily swim. It marked the end of his 23 year, 300,000 lengths goal of swimming across Canada without ever leaving the pool.

Today, the facility was renamed the “Gray Family Eau Claire YMCA” after a man who, his whole life, believed fervently in the link between fitness, productivity and well being,… a local hero who did everything in his power to support children and families through the YMCA facilities, programs and camps in the pursuit of living active lifestyles, Even the impressive assemblage of oil barons, political dignitaries and Rick Hanson, the man in motion, who were there, felt the lump in their throats as Jim Gray expressed an emotional thank you for the recognition.

I write this story only because, while most of you won’t know Jim Gray, we all need a little extra inspiration from time to time. I walked away from my coffee, fruit and muffin thinking how profoundly I had been reminded that genuine goodness and tenacity exists in ordinary people.

It’s just a little nudge for us to: 1) Find something in life that we are passionate about and be disciplined about it.

2) Do something in life that makes a difference in other people’s lives.

3) Be physically active everyday in some small way and know that this simple commitment is the key to changing your life.

As you flip to the Health and Wellness corner of this edition of the Hill Street News and read through some of the exciting business and community initiatives (Nicaragua - WOW!) occurring, you will see that many of The Hill Companies’ employees are already just like Jim Gray.

It’s hard to imagine now, but there was a time in the not–sodistant past where Saskatchewan was known as the place to be from and definitely not the place to be. Fast forward through a few Grey Cups and some timely shifts in our resources and economy, and the picture of Saskatchewan and Regina has become something much different then what it used to be. Our province has (and still is) experiencing significant growth, which has never been more apparent after taking a quick look out our windows of Hill Tower I. From the 20th floor windows looking west, you can see four cranes in the distance working on the new Mosaic Place football stadium site as part of the Regina Revitalization Initiative (RRI). A short stroll over to the East windows reveals Regina’s fifth crane, as it actively works on our newest office tower development Agriculture Place.

When we last checked in on Agriculture Place a few months ago, construction crews were busy installing the underground parking levels and elevator shafts of the building. Since that time, significant progress has been made to the point where the concrete frame of all floors are nearly complete. As you can see from the photos, our construction partners with PCL have finished pouring the eighth floor and are now preparing the west side of the ninth floor for concrete. With the crews averaging about a week per floor, it is expected that the full structure (10-storeys) will be completed in the near future.

As framing crews make their way to the tenth floor, more work continues closer to ground level with the installation of the curtain wall on the first and second floors.

For those unfamiliar with the construction process, the curtain wall is the glass panels that make up the outer “skin” of office tower buildings. At print date, the Installation of this curtain wall is 80% complete on the south and west ends of the second floor. As this installation continues to progress, the appearance of the tower is beginning to resemble a completed building more and more each day.

Moving to the interior of the structure (and away from harsh winter weather we’ve had lately in Saskatchewan) significant progress is being made as installation of the building’s mechanical system is occuring.

Right now, the focus of the mechanical is on the first and second floors, but will soon extend to the third and fourth levels as the curtain wall advances.

On the ground floor of the site, more work is being done to one of the the most unique aspects of Agriculture place,which is the main floor retail space known as “The Shoppes on Hamilton”. The roofing membrane of the retail project is currently being installed which can be seen in the picture below. When the entire project is complete, the Shoppes on Hamilton will feature nearly 10,000 square feet of premium shopping and retail space for our tenants and guests of downtown Regina.

It’s a special experience for those of us in Regina who are able to witness the daily progress of this amazing office tower being built. The human heart is an amazing organ. Did you know that every day your heart creates enough energy to drive a truck for 20km? Or that over your lifetime, your heart will pump nearly 1.5 million barrels of blood – enough to fill over 200 train cars! Suffice to say, the heart is one of the most important parts of your body. Yet, unless something goes wrong, most people don’t give a second thought to their heart and the proper diet and care it needs to remain strong.

As you may have heard, the month of February is also known as “Heart Month” across North America and is used by various health organizations to promote healthy diet and lifestyle choices aimed at lowering heart and stroke disease. For us at the Hill Companies, we got involved with the initiative by introducing our “Fruit February” promotion where fresh fruit was supplied to our offices on select days throughout February. All across Canada, our offices were treated to delicious and nutritious snacks of apples, bananas, strawberries and oranges!

Insurance share their story of their journey to Nicaragua hat it means to be a part of the “Company That Cares”.

From an outsider’s point of view, “The Company That Cares” may look like just another slogan - lost in a giant pile of companies looking to promote themselves in a catchy and memorable way. But for customers, partners and employees of Harvard Western Insurance, these four words have evolved into more than just a slogan…they have become a way of life at Harvard Western Insurance and truly ingrained into the everyday culture of the company.

For proof of this, you don’t have to look too far. Just ask Garion Carlson and Kayla Brown, two Harvard Western employees who have just returned from an overseas journey that embodied the caring culture that Harvrard Western is all about. This January, Kayla and Garion were presented with an opportunity through Harvard Western Insurance to volunteer in Nicaragua and help construct new homes for less fortunate families.

For many families in Nicaragua, a safe and solid house is just a dream. Instead, these families face extreme poverty and live in homes that have been pieced together with scrap lumber, tin, and plastic and are unable to protect them from any sort of inclement weather or intruders. Suffice to say, these homes are also a breeding ground for health problems since they lack any type of running water or sanitation facilities.

After tireless fundraising and with the support of their friends, family and coworkers, Garion and Kayla raised enough money to pay for their trip and were on their way south to Nicaragua.

Their volunteer mission would have them stationed in the small farming village of El Sasle, which is located about 30 minutes from the larger city of Jinotega (Population of 123,000).

Once there, Garion and Kayla, along with a group of other volunteers, set to work on building two solid new homes out of brick, concrete and lumber. As they constructed the homes, the group also had the opportunity to learn about the Nicarguan culture and interact with members of the community.

“Our trip was a short one, but well worthwhile,” said Garion when asked about the experience.

“We had a week of hard labour, laying cinder blocks and mixing concrete by hand. We also had some fun opportunities to get to know the members of the community we were building houses for.”

As they look back on the experience, Kayla and Garion are also quick to point out how rewarding of a trip it truly was. “In our short week in Nicaragua, we were able to provide two homes for families desperately in need – we were able to change the lives of two families. The experience will forever be close to us and we are very grateful for the opportunity provided byHarvard Western Insurance and for everyone who has taken the time to donate and let us tell our story.”

When it comes to Garion and Kayla, it is clear to see that “the company that cares” has become more than just a slogan. This type of leadership and community involvment can be seen each and every day from HWI empoyees, whether it be at a local branch, or halfway around the world!

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT KYLEAH SMANDYCH

Normally the month of January is reserved for special parties and gatherings as we come together to celebrate the New year and a fresh start. However, there was extra cause for celebration this past January as Kyleah Smandych, Senior Financial Planner for Harvard Developments, was celebrating her 10-year anniversary with the Hill Companies!

It all began back on January 24th, 2005 when Kyleah joined our Corporate Services team as a Corporate Accountant. “When I first started out, I spent about 50% of my time with Cathy Donald, and the other half of my time working with Lynn-Waddell Florence in our Accounting Departments” said Kyleah when recalling her first years on the job.

When you look back ten years ago, it’s clear to see alot has changed. Mariah Carey is no longer on top of the music charts, George Bush is far removed from the Presidency of the United States, and Nealon Greene isn’t leading the Green and White out of the tunnel onto Taylor Field.... or Mosaic Stadium I should say. But one thing that hasn’t changed in those 10 years is the passion, talent and fun that Kyleah has brought to the office of Harvard Developments each and every day. Following her 10 year anniversary, I had the chance to catch up with Kyleah as she walked me through her journey with the Hill Companies.

During this time, Kyleah had the opportunity to verse herself in a wide variety of the company’s finance files and further refine her skills in finance and tax accounting - something that would prove beneficial later on in her career. A few years later, Kyleah’s path took a small detour as she filled in for Michelle Soika who was going on maternity leave. The experience in this position would ultimately serve Kyleah well as she ended up assuming the Financial Planner position when Michelle moved over to take the Payroll and Benefits Manager position in the Fall of 2011.

Over the following five years, Kyleah’s responsibilities and skills have grown to the point where she is handling much of the Hill’s personal tax information, as well as the various charity files including Mother Teresa Middle School. The work definitely keeps her busy but the variety and challenge to it is one of the main reasons Kyleah loves her job.

“There is always something different....every day. By doing The workload and hours may be long but Kyleah recpersonal tax files, charity and corporate, there never really is ognizes the hard work is worth it and that the goal a boring day,” comments Kyleah. “Sometimes people think of a designation and degree are within reach. As we talked about Kyleah’s time with Harvard, another common thread seemed to pop-up time and time again: People. Kyleah noted that although she loves the projects she gets to work on each day, it is the people of Harvard that truly make it a great place to work. “My favorite memories at work all involve the great people I’ve worked with over the years. The jokes and pranks and fun we have always make it a fun and enjoyable place to come each day.” One of these people is Shanna Ralston, who has developed a close friendship with Kyleah over their years with the company. “I knew from day one that not only would Kyleah and I work well together, but that we would become friends for life,” says Shanna. “Her smile and positivity is enough to brighten anyone’s day.”

What’s even more astonishing about Kyleah’s story is how she handles her busy schedule. On top of the regular work hours, Kyleah’s free time is spent buried in textbooks as she is currently pursuing her Certified General Accountant designation and taking classes through Laurentian University.

As we wrapped up our chat, Kyleah shared her thoughts on what she’s learned over the past 10 years and offered some final advice from her experiences. “The biggest thing is the willingness to learn and try new ideas. Things are constantly changing, especially in finance, so if you’re always up for a challenge and a new way of thinking then things will always work out.”

Earlier we talked about how much the world and our business has changed in only the last ten years.

We are repeatedly asked the question of “how have we been able to survive as a company for the last 112 years?” To me, the answer is simple and can be seen in Kyleah and the rest of the talented and gifted people in this company who work hard and are constantly trying to push the envelope and learn new ideas.

Congratulations to Kyleah on an amazing ten years at Harvard and cheers to her next ten!

AROUND THE HILL COMPANIES HARVARD INVESTMENTS BY: CHRIS CACHERIS

On January 22, 2015 Harvard Investments broke ground on the first of two office buildings at Waypoint, a 260,000 square-foot Class A office campus located in Mesa, Arizona. The first building, consisting of 108,000 square-feet, has been leased to American Traffic Solutions. ATS is a leader in road safety and toll management, and will be relocating more than 600 employees to Waypoint. The second building is 152,000 squarefeet and is designed to accommodate single-and multiple-occupancy users.

“This is an exciting time to be building in the Southeast Valley,” stated Craig Krumwiede, President of Harvard Investments. “We are excited to bring the office campus to fruition and help create a truly dynamic workplace within a high energy and high amenity environment.”

Warm Winter greetings from Brook, Indiana and Clarion, Iowa!

The UFP plant in Brook, Indiana keeps humming along following a 2014 year that saw record production. As we forge on into 2015, our sales have continued to be strong. So strong in fact, our egg flats are flying out the door as fast as we can make them! Our customer’s chickens keep laying eggs, and we keep protecting them on their way to market, some 6.6 billion in 2014! Around the facility, we are continually making improvements to our processes steadily increasing productivity and efficiency. We are confident these efforts will build on the success we had in 2014 and lead to our best year yet in 2015.

Clarion Packaging also experienced inccreased sales throughout the last half of 2014 and I am pleased to report these sales have continued into early 2015. In addition, we are putting the finishing touches on several of the the plant upgrades we began in 2014. Of particular mention is the completion of our project to upgrade the insulation in the plant which will keep our facility warm and dry during the cold Iowa winter. (Yes, it can be as cold or colder than Saskatchewan!) The team at Clarion is also excited about the upcoming unveiling of a new 12-cell carton as well as changes to their existing 18 cell carton.

Both plants continue making 4-cup carriers for McDonald’s.

Production is at an all-time high, with a combined number of 460 million drinks having been protected in 2014. So rest assured, if you buy a hot coffee or a cold soda at any McDonalds location west of Brook, Indiana, it will be a UFR product preventing that beverage from ending up in your lap!

We are excited about our plans for 2015 and beyond. We look forward to sharing our accomplishments with you in our next update, so stay tuned!

Although the holiday season has come and gone, January has brought with it reason for us to celebrate with the return of Pauline Wagner from her maternity leave. Pauline says that while she enjoyed her time away from the office with her little guys, there are many aspects of her return to work that she is looking forward to… her co-workers, the challenge of her position, and adult conversation! We are also celebrating the engagements of Sanam Amirli to Blake Zimmer and Rosemarie Rossignol to Chris Meadows. Congratulations to you all! More details on those engagements can be found in the “Ground Breaking News” section.

The excitement continues with some new services our accounting team is now able to offer. We are excited to announce that we can now make payments to employees via Electronic Funds Transfer for reimbursement of business expenses from Harvard Developments Inc. and Hill Financial Corporation. By now you should have received an email inviting you to participate in this exciting new service. The forms are also available on UConnect in the “Your Employee Services” community.

MILESTONE START TO 2015!

Special congratulations go out to Cathy Donald and Kyleah Smandych who recently celebrated some major milestones in their careers with Harvard.

Cathy, who serves as our company’s Controller, is celebrating an amazing 25 years at Harvard! For Kyleah, this is year 10 with Harvard and we are so proud to have these two wonderful and talented ladies as part of our team.

Congratulations Cathy and Kyleah and thank you for all that you do!

We are also pleased to be able to deposit cheques to a number of our business bank accounts by scanning payments right here in the office through online banking. This is proving to be an efficient new process which has cut down on not only the time spent on bank runs and processing, but has also led to digital filing instead of paper copies which is good news for our environment.

The start of a new year signals a busy time for us accountants as we are busy getting everything in order for audit and tax season. We will be welcoming our friends from Deloitte over the next couple of months and are looking forward to another smooth year-end.

Oh… and one more thing: Gary Thiel, a partner at Deloitte who has done a great deal of tax work for us over the years, will be joining us here at Harvard in the position of Senior Tax Advisor beginning late in late March 2015. Gary is a great addition to Harvard and we are looking forward to working with him as a part of our team.

2014 was a most unique year for us at Western Surety. While premium generation is very close to last year, we were, unfortunately, saddled with a major claim in Alberta. On a positive note, this claim was the only material blemish of the year and has again proved that our product remains the best form of security. Most importantly, high profile owners are very pleased with our claims management.

Our industry in general does not receive much positive publicity. The attached media link was great to see and it relates to an Ontario claim that commenced in 2013. While ‘whatever the cost’ may be somewhat of an overstatement, many brokers, competitors, reinsurers and of course, our staff, were pleased by the publicity.’ http://www.simcoereformer.ca/2014/12/05/end-in-sight-for-rec-centre-repairs “The economy remains unpredictable at best. While Canada continues to be among the global economic leaders, the recent downturn in oil prices will certainly impact many construction companies, decrease expenditures within the construction industry and very likely slow the flow of money from the owners down to the sub-contractors and suppliers; obviously not a great combination for anyone in our industry. Over its 105 year existence, Western Surety has successfully managed many economic cycles and will continue to underwrite in a prudent, responsive manner.

We were excited to have expanded this service for our Contract Surety business in 2014. Our most recent Ezine detailed the user-friendly Western Surety E-Services section; quite the change from 1987 when I first walked into the Western Surety offices!

We are excited about these technological advances as they are the first of their kind in the industry and we hope to continue to increase efficiencies in our office and those of our broker force.

Unexpectedly, the past few months have been milder than normal here in the prairies. As we began to look forward to the possibility of an early spring, a famous groundhog emerged from his burrow and saw his shadow. As many of you know, that meant we would have to endure six more weeks of winter weather. If his prediction holds true, most of us should be able to tolerate whatever snow and cold that lay ahead.

It was an exciting time for a couple of our team members who received early Christmas gifts. On November 1st, Jenny Brown (Calgary) welcomed her son, Pratt Lester Fry. Pratt weighed in at a healthy 8 lbs, 3 oz and measured 20.75 inches long. One month later, Dawn Schlosser (Regina) welcomed her daughter, Erin Schlosser. Erin weighed 7 lbs, 6 oz and measured 19.50 inches long. Congratulations and best wishes to you and your families!

With Jenny and Dawn on maternity leave, our teams in Calgary and Regina were pleased to announce that Natalie Hewton-Waters and Sarah Grismer, respectively, would be filling their roles on a term basis.

In Regina, everyone in our downtown office towers celebrated the spirit of the holidays during tenant lunches that took place in the building lobbies over a three day period in early December. Our gracious HPMI staff served a traditional turkey dinner, with a twist, to approximately 2,200 people. Instead of being given a plate, our guests were handed a cup layered with dressing, turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and vegetables. After a few puzzled looks, everyone dug into their unique meal. It was only a matter of time until we started to receive very positive comments about how excellent lunch was. The food was catered by 20Ten, our new tenant in Mosaic Tower at Hill Centre III. Thank you to Angela Lockhart and the PR and Promo team for their hard work in organizing the events!

HARVARD PROPERTY MANAGEMENT CONTINUED We would like to recognize two individuals for their significant educational accomplishments. In early December, Jennifer Tsang (Regina) was notified she had passed her Uniform Evaluation (UFE) exam. The UFE is the last examination chartered accountancy students take in pursuit of the Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in Canada. The UFE is also reputed to be among the world’s most challenging professional exams. Corinne Johnson (Regina) successfully obtained her real estate license in property management and is now officially registered as a Salesperson with the Saskatchewan Real Estate Commission. Corinne acquired her licensing designation in a very short period of time. Congratulations on your achievements ladies!

In early December, Terri Hillier-McIntosh announced she was adding two new members to her Retail Team. Garnet Porten began his role as Suburban Building Operator in Saskatoon for the Preston Crossing and SaskPower properties. Mark Daclag was introduced as the new Retail Maintenance Assistant for her Regina team providing maintenance support for Grasslands. Prior to the holiday break, Wendy Kopeck welcomed Colleen Bos to the Regina Downtown Administration Team as Property Management Administrator. Colleen recently located to Regina from Winnipeg. Early in the New Year, Bob Drysdale joined Terri Hillier-McIntosh’s Regina team as Retail Maintenance Assistant for Normanview Crossing, Kramer Corner and Lakeshore Mall.

On December 1, Terri Hillier-McIntosh made the announcement that Craig Littletent (Regina) was promoted to Suburban Building Operator. Craig is now responsible for the day-to-day building operations at Grasslands. Congratulations on your advancement Craig!

At the end of December, Laura Sharen (HPMI-Edmonton) was pleased to announce the addition of two new properties to our Edmonton portfolio. The Garneau and Augustana properties will join properties currently under HPMI’s management owned by our client, John Day. The New Year in Property Management began with the commencement of audit planning. The auditors have arrived and will be a regular fixture in our office until the end of April. In addition, the yearly process of PAL planning and appraisals is nearing completion.

Chris Burrell was pleased to report that Dale Merk (Regina) would be returning to work on February 2nd. For those of you who didn’t know, Dale was in an unfortunate car accident last September. We are all very glad he is back and that his recovery is progressing. Dale will be working half days until he is given the “all clear” to return full-time.

On the afternoon of February 16th, Eau Claire Market in Calgary hosted a Family Fun Day Event. The event drew approximately 2,500 people to the mall with numerous activities and entertainment. Guests enjoyed a variety of performers including the Youth Singers and a Chinese Lion Dance. There were a number of booths set up, including carnival games, a face painter and a tattoo artist. Thank-you to all volunteers who helped make this event a great success!

In closing, we would like to acknowledge the following individuals for reaching significant milestones in their length of service: Dean Siemens (Calgary) who achieved 15 years of service in December and Duncan Spiring (Winnipeg) for achieving 25 years of service at the 201 Portage Building in January. REGINA: IBM has renewed its lease of 6,057 square feet for five years in Conexus Plaza.

The Crown Prosecutors have expanded to take a portion of the 12th floor in Conexus Plaza. The expansion premise is 4,837 square feet and the term is for four years and nine months.

The Privacy Commissioner’s Office expanded to take a portion of the 12th floor in Conexus Plaza as well. This is a short term deal on 1,462 square feet.

Western Surety completed a five year renewal for its space in Hill Centre Tower II on the 21st floor. The space also received a refresh with some new paint.

Fido has early exercised an option to renew and has added another five year term to its lease for the server room it has in the Bank of Montreal Building on the 12th floor. The server room is 2,270 square feet.

Greystone Managed Investments has expanded to take another 4,841 square feet on the main floor of Park Centre.

This fall, Stone’s Throw Coffee House at Kramer Corner had assigned their lease to new management and ownership. An additional 5 year renewal term will be granted upon completion of minor interior upgrades and repairs to the space prior to the commencement date January 1, 2016. CURRENTS OF WINDERMERE - EDMONTON, ALBERTA Currents of Windermere continues to grow and a number of retailers are opening soon.

Browns Social House will be open this month, while Thai Express, Sushi Shop, Marks and Petland are fixturing and are expecting to open in late March. Two new buildings are under construction in the Urban Village component and total 30,000 square feet. Carters, Believe Fit, Mastermind Toys, Rogers, Mucho Burrito, Frilly Lilly, Massage Heights and J.Lea Fashion are some of the retailers that will open later in the year. A third new building of 8,900 square feet will be under construction in the Spring. Red Robin Gourmet Hamburgers has been secured.

Construction on the three storey Currents Medical and Wellness Centre is almost complete and the first medical tenants are slated to open in the coming weeks. Negotiations are underway with two prospective tenants totaling 14,000 square feet, so more announcements are still to come.

WINDERMERE CROSSING - EDMONTON, ALBERTA The newest 12,700 square foot multi-tenant building at Windermere Crossing has been completed and Dairy Queen and Fabutan are now open. Opening in the coming weeks are State and Main, Panago Pizza, Sally Beauty Supplies and The Chopped Leaf.

MIX 103.7FM & 100.5 CRUZ FM - FORT MCMURRAY, ALBERTA | PAMELA KIRBY

It was a busy Winter for our Fort McMurray stations with lots of concerts, promotions and community events going on. Mix 103.7 held their annual Halloween Party at a local hotel and we were able to raise over 3500 lbs of food for the Wood Buffalo Food Bank. We also sent a very lucky Mix listener to Vancouver to check out Usher for bringing in the largest food bank donation that night.

In November, Mix was awarded the Community Enrichment Award from the Canadian Mental Health Association. We are proud supporters of the organization and work very closely with them throughout the year and we couldn’t be more honoured to have received the award!

Our News department changed a little bit over last couple of months as Evan Cooke was hired as the new News Director and Taylor Pope came on board as our news reporter and weekend announcer.

100. 5 CRUZ FM has been working hard to push Fort McMurray out of the winter blues. 100.5 CRUZ FM joined in on the Santa Claus parade in -30 temperatures no less but it was worth it to see the smiles.

To spread a little Christmas cheer, CRUZ Mornings with Mark and Leanne head-ed out to local charities giving the gift of coffee and doughnuts, dabbled in a little caroling as well. As you can see in the photo above, the gang had a great time.

Fun Fact: Mark has the voice of an angel.

GX94 & FOX FM - YORKTON, SASKATCHEWAN KELSEY LIEBRECHT

Fifteen hundred copies of GX94’s Midday Host - Tonya Cherry’s Christmas Goodies cookbook sold out again this year and raised $10,500. All proceeds went to Saskatchewan and Manitoba food banks, women's shelters, Christmas toy collections and to victims of a recent apartment fire in Yorkton. In the last four years, over $27,000 has been donated from sales of the book (which is rewritten every year thanks to the help of the listeners who send in all the recipes). Not only does Tonya put all this together herself, she attempts to make every recipe that is sent in.

FOX FM’s “Santa’s Little Helpers” once again warmed the heats of the patients and staff at the Yorkton Regional Heath Centre. Santa paid a visit to the hospital on Christmas Eve delivering gifts to children, new borns and their mothers thanks to Peavey Mart. We couldn’t forget about staff that doesn’t get to spend Christmas at home. Thanks to our friends at McDonalds, our staff were treated to coffee and muffins.

Kevin Lubiniecki, Promotions Assistant (2001-2012) with GX94/Fox FM passed away, Wednesday January 14th, 2015. Kevin was a long time educator who after retirement, came to work in promotions at GX94/Fox FM.

Listeners of the 12th Annual Children’s Hospital Radiothon once again responded with overwhelming generosity, setting a new record for southern Saskatchewan’s largest fundraiser for the new Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan.

This year’s event was once agian held in the lobby of Hill Tower II and featured entertainment both on and off the airwaves throughout the day. During the final hour, our on-airpersonalities from 620 CKRM, MY92.1, and 104.9 The Wolf announced that the two-day event raised $540,727.00, bringing the overall Radiothon total to more than $3.4 million since the event began.

It is an exciting time for the Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan as construction is taking place on their new hospital facility up in Saskatoon. As a longtime support of this great organization and cause, we at Harvard Broadcasting are thrilled with this total and are ecstatic to see this amount of money go directly to helping save the lives of youth in our province. Special thanks to our promotions staff and on-air DJ’s for putting in some long hours and putting on an absolutely tremendous event.

Harvard Broadcasting Regina is excited to be welcoming back some NEW and OLD faces to our team. On MY92.1, we welcomed back Jessica Frost who will be taking over the midday shift. She missed us so much that after being gone for two weeks, she begged us to bring her back! But the feelings were mutual. Welcome back Jess!

We also added a very familiar face in Regina to the new MY92.1 Morning Show in Rustie Dean. She left her position as the local weather girl for Global Regina and joined Greg Morgan this past Fall. Rustie recently got engaged and is busy planning her special day.

Over on the creative side, we welcomed creative writer Derek Siddorn , a recent graduate from the Academy of Broadcasting Corporation in Winnipeg, and producer Tim Main who tells us that he would sacrifice his own brother to the Gods for a chance to be in the new Star Wars Trilogy.

Brandon Graziano joins our News Department via Edmonton. He likes to play into the stereotype Italian and crush a lot of pasta, red wine and futbol ... but also insists that he enjoys pancakes as well.

104.9 The WOLF is excited to be bringing in a couple Alberta boys to the fun. Tim Shutz (Program Director MY92.1 and 104.9 The WOLF) comes from Edmonton, as he was previously working at our sister station, 96.3 Cruz FM. Marcello Palombi (Middays) joins us from Calgary where he was holding down the position of evenings and weekends on our other sister station, X92.9.
