ILLCREST’s new station commander isn’t your average police officer. He has competed five Comrades Marathons and is training for his sixth one this year. Colonel DB Ndlovu is a family man who treasures spending time with his wife and three children. He looks up to his 91-year old dad as a role model, and says if it were not for the sacrifices his dad made, he would not be the success he is today. But there is a serious side to this man whose new mission is to fight crime in the Hillcrest area. Ndlovu has been in the SAPS for almost 30 years and has more than 14 years’ experience as a station commander. Ndlovu matriculated in Mpuma-

"I want people to know we care. I have an open-door policy and the community is welcome to email or contact me with any information they have regarding crime, tips on combating it and even complaints regarding my staff or station. "It is time we take back Hillcrest and give residents the peace of mind they need." Ndlovu also put forwardatipforresidents

regarding the police. "When a police officer goes to a crime scene, take down his or her name in case you are unhappy with the service and report it so we know who to deal with." He urged residents to contact him on ZondiS3@saps.gov.za "I also want role players and forums to invite me to their meetings so we can work together and achieve our goals," he said.
