>> Sale of Dreams for Africa chair makes KZN craft hub possible FEVER REPORTER
H
ILLCREST AIDS Centre Trust (HACT) is ecstatic after the sale of its well known Dreams for Africa chair last week. Proceeds from the chair – which has been sold to a private buyer for R850 000 - will be used to

build a brand new craft centre at HACT’s Hillcrest premises, with the aim of making it the craft hub of KwaZulu-Natal. The concept of the Dreams for Africa chair started in 2009 when a group of 150 crafters from the Valley of 1000 Hills met to create the chair, which took eight weeks to complete. The chair is made of beautiful patches of beadwork sewn together through exquisite craftwork, with two wings which are maps of Africa. Woza Moya manager, Paula Thomson said, “Dreams for the future seem impossible in the harsh environments and poverty stricken communities where HACT works. For most of HACT’s crafters and patients, survival and having enough food to put on the table, have eaten away at childhood dreams,” she said. “The aim of creating the beautiful chair was to help people dream again, and to encourage them to have powerful, positive thoughts about their futures and their country. To restore hope, HACT started their Dreams for Africa series.” Currently, more than 350 women impacted
by HIV/AIDS from impoverished communities across the Valley of 1000 Hills generate an income from beading, sewing and crafts through HACT’s Woza Moya income-generating project. The shop sells work onbehalfofotherself-helpprojects, non-profit organisations and local entrepreneurs, which in turn supports a further 650 crafters from across KZN. The new craft centre will increase this impact and create many more jobs and income possibilities. Once voted the most beautiful object in South Africa at the Design Indaba, the chair is being exhibited at the Longmynd Gallery, along with photographs depicting the chair and people who have sat in it, in various unusual contexts and locations around the world. Its sale marks the fulfilment of a dream envisaged by Thomson, when the chair was first exhibited

at the 2011 Design Indaba in Cape Town. The colourful, hand-beaded chair has enabled ordinary people and celebrities alike to dream about future possibilities for themselves, and for South Africa, whilst seated on the chair. On its journey, the chair has raised more than R500 000 towards training and employment-generating projects run by Woza Moya. “We were forced to call the company and demand these stones be removed. We cannot sit back and watch our area be destroyed,” said the residents. “These contractors are doing more harm than good. We demand the shoddy workmanship be stopped.” Marge Mitchell of the Keep Hillcrest Beautiful Association also confirmed that there has been rubble dumped on verges in the area but added that the company does come after a while to clear out the mess. “We have escalated this matter to the municipal authorities and they have assured us that this will not happen again.”

ILLCREST residents are up in arms following shoddy road repairs in the area. Residents claim that the rehabilitation of Hillcrest Park began in May, however the condition of the area has not yet improved. AccordingtoShaunLyleoftheHillcrest Park Neighbourhood Watch, this rehabilitation project has been on-going from May with no end in sight. “UpperSpringsideremainsacomplete torn-up mess. The roads have been patched from top to bottom, then a week or two later it was dug up andnowadirtroadremains,”hesaid. Lyle said his frustration and anger is due to the mess the contractors are causing. “They are dropping off piles of mess and materials on verges everywhere, and have completely destroyed a community rehabilitated area off Springside at Broken Window Lane (access to Eskom substationandD’MOSSdemarcatedconservation area),” he added. Another angered resident who did not want to be named said that, just a few days ago the contractors dump trucks dropped stones off on another area rehabilitated by the community opposite 45 Springside, this time private land owned by Thistledown complex.

Mini labs help FEVER schools
September 26, 2014

AMANDA KHOZA FIVE years ago Shongweni resident Dave Leslie (67), saw a teacher battling to shuttle chemicals and science equipment between classrooms. After a brief conversation and a call for help he came up with a plan to design a portable lab, safe for use at schools. Leslie developed PortaLABs, mini science laboratories that are packed in portable boxes containing the entire Natural Science curriculum for grades four to nine. In most rural schools, with lack of proper infrastructure or buildings, teachershavetomakedowithcarrying around test equipment. With the chemicals involved, this always sparks fears that something can spill or break, Leslie said. The boxes include instruments that assist pupils to conduct science experiments and it is designed to make learning biology, chemistry and physics easier. When designing the innovative product, Leslie said he wanted pupils and teachers, especially in underprivileged schools, to really see and touch science. The kits fold into an average-sized box, then
unfold into a minilab complete with drawers as storage space, and work surface to conduct the experiments on. “These kits help them understand science better, because often in rural areas, there is only the literature with no real interaction,” Leslie said. “Nowitissomethingveryreal, astheexperiments can be done with ease and minimal effort. “And to think, this idea just grew from a request for help from a teacher who wanted to know how to safely carry chemicals and scientific equipment from one classroom to another.” To date, Leslie has produced over 1 500 labs and donated several to schools around KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa. The labs are made and assembled at Leslie’s home in Shongweni. “We have sent labs to Uganda, Kenya as well as Madagascar and hopefully we will be sending them to Namibia soon, but it all takes time and money,” said Leslie. The labs are sponsored by Unilever and Woolworths’ MySchool and receive no additional funding. Dave Leslie designed mini portable labs for schools around South Africa. ILTON Ratcliffe - a physicist, mathematician, astronomer and photographer - will be showcasing his photos at the Africa Unplugged – Natural Photographic Art which is currently running at Kloof Village Mall Superspar. Nearly all his photographs are taken in the Upper Highway area, and most in his half acre garden in Waterfall. RatcliffetoldFevertheexhibitionisanexploration of the biodiversity normally hidden in the suburban environment, and which, when revealed by a probing camera lens, brings a welcome image of natural harmony. His resume is an impressive one. He is a member of both the Astronomical Society of Southern Africa (ASSA) and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. He became a founding member of the Alternative Cosmology Group (ACG—an association of some 700 leadingscientistsfromallcornersoftheglobe),which conducted its inaugural international conference in Portugal in 2005. He was an active member of the organisational, scientific, andproceedingscommitteesforthesecond ACG conference, which was held in the USA in September 2008. For many years he wrote a monthly astrophysical column for“Ndaba”, newsletter of the Astronomical SocietyofSouthernAfrica’sDurbanCentre, andiseditor of the Monthly Notes of the Alternative Cosmology Group. He serves as consulting astrophysicist on the steering committee of the Durban Space Science Centre andPlanetarium, aprojectoftheAstronomicalSociety of Southern Africa (Durban Centre). Ratcliffe is best known in formal science as co-discoverer,togetherwitheminentnuclearchemistOliver Manuel and solar physicist Michael Mozina, of the CNO nuclear fusion cycle on the surface of the sun, nearly 70 years after it was first predicted. He has also made his mark as a photographer and an author. He has published three books (The Virtue of Heresy; The Static Universe; and Stephen Hawking

In his capacity as Fellow of the (British) Institute of Physics, he involves himself in addressing the decline in student interest in physical sciences at both high school and university level, and particularly likes to encourage the reading of books. He said, “My greatest role models are physicist Sir Isaac Newton, guitarists Eric Clapton and Brian May, astronomerSirPatrickMoore, humanistMalalaYousafzai, photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson, and social anthropologist Robert Ardrey.” Describing himself as “intense”, Ratcliffe said he lives by the mottos, “Beware the man with a theory. Never negotiate with a suicide bomber. No hocus-pocus. For every effect, there’s a cause, and for every action, a reaction and in a picture, as in life, good light is made by good shadow.” His message to the youth is: “Whatever happens, don’t blame anyone else.” For more information on the exhibition or Ratcliffe, email athilton@hiltonratcliffe.com

The joys of being a Durbanite
STEPH MCLENNAN THERE are things about living in Durban, and indeed in South Africa, that are undeniably repulsive. The volume of whoongaaddicted beggars at traffic lights with hangdog expressions and their branded clothing hidden under a nearby bush. The rapists,murderersandthieves.TheZumas. The fact that the only car one can buy in pink is a Suzuki Alto. I could carry on. Over the course of writing this oft-cynical column, I have been told by at least one reader to pack my bags and leave, or stop
whingring about South Africa. Well, senders of hate-mail, today I am going to extol the virtues of our prodigious province and our so-called rainbow nation as a whole. I do not intend to make this sound like a tourism brochure, but if anyone were to be inclined to hire me as a travel writer based on this piece, the door to negotiation is always open. Like an awkward conversation, I am going to start with the weather. While our city swelters under hair-raising humidity (literally, hair raising). However, I realised after visitingSingaporeafewyearsagothatsaying Durban is humid is like calling a garden snake a deadly beast. It could be so, so much worse. Salaries, onemightargue, arefarhigher in Johannesburg than in our relatively sleepy town. This is true, and somebody doing your job in Johannesburg may earn 30% more than you. This after they fight traffic 80% longer than you do, pay obscene amounts of money for their pieces of property neighbouring a mine dump, and pay etolls because the gantries, amaz-
ingly enough, have still not been pulled down by vigilantes. In living this lifestyle in the city of gold, they manage to save a small amount of money each year. And what do they do with it? Spend it on their annual trip to the coast, where they will holiday for a week or two in Durban or Margate, clamouring with their counterparts to claim a spot on the beach or get their kid onto one of the rides at uShaka Marine World. Capetoniansboastofthecleanlinessof their city, which cannot be disputed. They speak lovingly of the white sand on their beaches, where the water is so cold that by sticking in a toe, it is possible to freeze off a nipple. Admittedly, Cape Town does have one thing that we don't - a mountain. If anyone ever tells you that Bloemfontein, Pietermaritzburg or Pofadder are better places to live than Durban, be charitable and book them an appointment with the next available psychiatrist. Within a three-hour drive of our front doors, we have game reserves, the big five, mountains and more natural beauty than

DA says no to this ‘pie in the sky’ project KZN MEC Mike Mabuyakhulu’s dogged determination to soldier on with his “pie in the sky” Drakensberg cableway project in the face of an increasingly difficult economic climate becomes more farcical with each day. TheinvolvementofIthala Development Bank announced recently raises another red flag. The KZN portfolio committee for tourism has not yet met to discuss this project. To be informed by the media that Ithala is taking over the reins on this project is frankly insulting to the newly elected legislature. According to media reports, Ithala will be responsible for driving funding for the project, and for the business model. This is alarming in light of the failed Dolphin Whispers development in the Point area of Durban - also driven by Ithala Bank – and the many other “white elephants” left in its wake around the province. During the recent KZN budget approvalprocess, theDA appealedtoMabuyakhulu and his department to get the basics right first. This means putting any grand plans for a cableway on the back burner. Departmental priorities should be the upgrade of roads and accommodation, particularly in the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Park, while access roads and signage to all KZN’s tourism sites need to be maintained to enhance the experienceofavisittoourprovince. Acableway in a remote corner of the Drakensberg is doomed to fail.
SAPS concerns FOR sometime now the Hillcrest SAPS station has been in a crisis, and it is getting worse. The residents of Hillcrest have lost complete faith and confidence in the Hillcrest SAPS station, so much so that many residents who live in the area policed by the Hillcrest SAPS station prefer to go down to the Kloof sub-station to open a case or file a complaint. Some of the recent issues include a member of a neighbourhood watch being physically beaten up at the station by a police officer while other police officers looked on and did nothing. Some other complaints also include their reluctance to open cases and their response time to an armed robbery 2 kilometres away. The police took more than 30 minutes to respond and on the way, they passed the robbers who went on to commit another armed robbery a few minutes later. Apparently the police had only one usable vehicle. There appears to be an ‘I don’t care attitude’bytheofficersandareluctancetoopencases.Iexperienced this first hand. After an attempt by a taxi driver to deliberately run me off the road I immediately went to Hillcrest SAPS to open a case, there was an immediate reluctance from the officers at the desk to open the case. When I pressed them they said they would go to the taxi rank and find who was driving the taxi, they assured me they would call me later that same day to open a case. I waited a full week and then emailed the station commander. A few days later I got a call to come in and open a case, which I did. Then more than a week later a Constable Ndlovu contacted me and wanted to know why I waited so long to open a case. Tocutalongstoryshorttheynowtellmethedriverhasdisappearedandtheycannotfindhim. monthly instalments are lowered, but the payment period is extended. This makes your debt more affordable, and leaves you with more of your paycheck for your monthly expenses. This also helps you escape the ‘debt trap’, that is where you have to make more debt each month because your take home pay isn’t enough for you to live after you have paid your creditors. Being under debt review also means that your home and your vehicles cannot be attached and sold by your creditors. It is also likely, although not guaranteed, that your debt counsellor will be able to negotiate a large reduction in your interest rate.

uShaka break for deaf mime artist RAISA SOODYAL AN Upper Highway man’s love for drama has landed him a role as one of uShaka Marine World’s biggest attractions. Sibongeleni Moses Masondo (19), who was born deaf, is the new feature in the uShaka Marine World dolphin show. He said he was thrilled when he
was told he would be playing his mime alter ego “Le Mot” before every Dolphin show. His mentor, Gisele Turner, who describes him as a passionate artist, interprets for him. “I have always loved drama from when I was a very small child and acted at every opportunity,” said Masondo. GIRL’S journey of abuse has been transformed into a revolutionary theatre production to be staged at the Izulu Theatre, at Sibaya from 3 to 5 October. Kerusha Kisten, former Miss India Globe 2010 - who describes the arts as her passion - is the playwright of, and actress in, A Million Pieces of Me. Kisten describes the play as “the first animated theatre production in the world. It’s new and fresh. It’s also hard-hitting as it deals with antiwoman abuse and has launched the campaign ‘a million voices against woman abuse’.” “The playhasaPG13rating-there is sex, nudity and language - the theatreisinyourfaceandtopicscoversexual abuse, gender abuse and violence against women.” The actress conceived the idea for the production “while watching the Boomerang channel. That’s where the animation comes from.” The 22-year-old ex-Northlands
pupilsaysherdramateacherwaspivotal in her drama career. “I did a number of theatre productions at school.” Whilst studying law at UKZN, Kisten entered the Miss South Asia pageant in 2010, won and represented South Africa in Los Angeles, California at the Miss India Globe contest. She brought the title back to South Africa. “I had been involved in pageantry since the age of 16 as it had a talent section where I could pursue my love of performing arts.” The budding actress won a scholarship to the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City as part of her prize for Miss India Globe 2010. But, “after a traumatic experience in the film industry - I guess it was myintegrityorthis- Ireturnedhome. It was a life lesson,” the glamorous actress told Fever. “It could have been a big break but Ichosetowalkaway.Lifehasdifferent experiences. I chose to learn from this one.” Her first venture as a playwright
was Women of the 21st Century in 2011. She followed that with reachingtheTop10intheSearchfortheTop Billing Presenter (the year Jonathan Boynton-Lee won). “I’ve also done a bit of television and radio.” But final rehearsals for A Million Pieces of Me is what is taking up Kisten’s time right now. “The animation (by Cappucino Studios - created by Avishaan Mahase) is my main co-star. Seven men are the balance of the cast,” Kisten explained. She describes the story as a journey which sheds light on genderbased violence, breaking the silence of abuse, depression and suicide. Ethembeni Place of Hope in Clairwood - a centre which has helped many women with rehabilitation will be the recipient of a percentage of the proceeds, “to enhance the sterling work they already do”. Doing it for charity again and again FEVER REPORTER THIS year marks the 10th anniversary of The Dad’sCharityCycleChallengethatsees45dads cycling in aid of charity — and then they do it all over again during the Amashova Durban Classic. The cyclists ride from Johannesburg on October 8 to arrive in Pietermaritzburg on October 12, just in time for the 106 km Amashova cycling event. The funds raised are divided primarily between their chosen charities — the Sunflower Fund, CHOC, The Gauteng Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA), Employability and the Fulton School for the Deaf.
The group began in 2005 when several dads got together to make a difference to the lives of thoselessfortunatewhile alsokeepinghealthy. They are involved in other initiatives including The Maloney’s Eye Rural Primary School and St Anne’s Home in KZN supporting 45 young girls between six and 14. The organisation also supports school children by paying their primary school fees. The group has raised R3,5 million since its launch and looks to top R4 million mark this year. ENNY Koningkramer, who spearheaded the Inanda Dog Project to assist animals that live at the Embo township of Hillcrest, will be hosting a fundraising breakfast on 1 October at the Kloof Country Club andisurgingthecommunitytoattend. According to this modern day animal hero, her call to action was sparked when her domestic worker’s dog fell ill and she needed to transport him to the local animal clinic. However, as she began driving through the township, Koningkramer said, dogs with mange roamed the streets, while others were injured and starving. She said that cats just lay on the road sides with untreated illnesses, while chickens scratched the ground for any remnants of food. It was then that she bundled as many dogs as she could into a car, drove to the Kloof and Highway SPCA and refused to leave until a vet treated them. Once the dogs had been treated, Koningkramer told the SPCA that she would be dropping off sick dogs every week, and she did so. This was the humble beginnings of the Inanda Dog Project seven years

All the food is often donated to her by her appeals for assistance and via word of mouth to businesses in the area. The mother-of-three said getting retrenched as a sales manager a few
years ago was actually a blessing in disguise for her. “I should have been offering my services to those that need it long ago. However, it is a pity I only realisedmycallinglateron inlife,”she said. “I love helping these animals. I would never be able to eat dinner at night knowing these animals are starving. “I have always been an animal lover, and by the grace of God I will continue tohelptheminanywayIcan,”sheadded. However Koningkramer said that with the prices of commodities, funds are beginning to deplete and she is appealing to the community for assistance. “I really need the help of the public to sustain my feeding programme,” she said. “Financial support will also be welcome. There is always an animal out there that needs some love and a good meal, and my goal is to help them and bring back that wag to their tail.” Tickets for the fundraising breakfast is R150 and guest speaker at the event will be Cindy Norcott. Patrick encouraged members of the community and the volunteers to continue supporting the organisation. She said that the Kloof and Highway SPCA relies on the community for funding as no government funding is received Ways that one can assist is with a monthly monetary donation or by donating unwanted goods. One can also support the fundraisers held at the society, on Mondays and Saturdays. “Every bit that we receive helps,” she added. HE South African Riding for the Disabled (SARDA) continues its efforts to provide services to the disabled community. They are urging residents to attend their fundraising talk by Johann von Bargen (aka The Traffic Guy) at Club de Vie restaurant in Le Domaine on 9 October. SARDA provides care for children and young adults who are mentally and physically disabled. The association gives disabled people the opportunity to experience therapeutic and recreational horse riding lessons which assist in improving mental, physical and social well-being. The branch exists as a result of teamwork with all instructors and helpers volunteering their time and knowledge. Volunteer Linda Wilson said that SARDA aims to provide horse riding for therapeutic and recreational purposes at no charge to children with special needs, from various schools in the greater Durban area. “We aim to maintain a high standard of therapeutic horse riding by providing qualification opportunities and training to instructors and volunteers,” she explained. “In riding a horse, freedom and independence become a reality.” However, the lessons are costly and donor funds have decreased. “We conduct fundraising initiatives to sustain our organisation,” said Wilson. She urged the community to support the fundraising talk. Tickets are R150 per person. For more information, contact 031 716 8233 or 083 372 1881.

Welcome to Hartenberg In 1704, Christoffel Esterhuizzen was granted the title deed to “Het Hartenberg” by Governor (Willem Adriaan van der Stel) and became the first official owner of the farm. In 1987, Ken Mackenzie, purchased Hartenberg, having seen the potential that the perennial under-achiever offered. His daughters continue a programme of investment in the farm, focusing on three key areas: the replanting to specific sites of premium varietals, the development of production facilities, and upliftment, through knowledge and skills for employees. The Mackenzie vision, though extremely ambitious, remains simple: to do whatever it takes to produce wines of outstanding quality.

Alchemy range Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon Both varietals for this blend are from Stellenbosch. The Syrah originates from an iron laterite, gravel – strewn vineyard, whilst the Cabernet was sourced from two very different sites; one from south-facing , deep dark red loam, the other from yellow Table Mountain Sandstone. The Syrah lends plush ripe fruit flavours with soft tannins, and the Cabernet provides backbone, substance, and focus.

New Toyota Yaris
T
OYOTA has invested 85 million euros, engineered 1 000 new parts and spent 576 000 man hours refining the new Yaris. After research conducted across several platforms including press analysis, customer clinics and dealer feedback, Toyota Europe identified three key areas where the current generation Yaris scored highly – outstanding roominess, powertrain efficiency and standard features, making it the smart choice. Eschewing supermini stereotypes for a highly distinctive exterior, the new Yaris sees the most dramatic execution of Toyota’s contemporary frontal design language to date with sharpedged detailing. The narrow upper and large grilles, a hallmark of Toyota’s current design, are present but they now merge at the point of the Toyota emblem to form a powerful cross shape. Eightexteriorcoloursareavailable,
including new Avante-Garde Bronze Metallic(petrolmodelsonly)andPacific Blue Metallic. Lava Red Metallic and Pearl White Metallic are Hybrid exclusive colours. The upper instrument panel has been made thinner, and the upper surface of the driver’s instrument binnacle has been restyled to give a slimmer appearance. New seat trims are provided, with a new fabric pattern and colours. Befittingitsrange-topperstatus,theHybrid is decked out in a leather and cloth combo. The new Yaris is available with three engine choices – two petrol, and a hybrid. The full hybrid system, a first for this segment, benefits from adjustments which have brought its CO2 emissions down further, from 88 to 82g/km.Extremelyfuelefficient(3,6litres in the combined cycle) and clean (virtually zero NOx and particulate emissions),thisinnovativepowertrain
is at the cutting edge of technology. Renowned for its near-silent running, comfort and easy handling, especially around town where the hybrid system allows the car to be driven for certain distances in electric mode, or with limited use of the petrol engine. The auto CVT-based transmission addstotheall-roundsmooth,quietand comfortable driving experience. Yaris Hybrid’s powertrain features a four-cylinder Atkinson cycle 1,497cc engine that is 50mm shorter than the 1.8-litre unit used by Prius and Auris Hybrid, it is also 17kg lighter. Its features include a cooled exhaust gas recirculation system, an electric water pump, a low-friction distribution chain, an intake manifold made of a composite material and a compact exhaust manifold. The new Yaris has a more rigid upper and lower body structure, which offers a more direct and linear response to steering inputs. — Supplied.

Change a Lifers mix it up with Hill2Hill’s best >> Cyclists ride from Hilton to Hillcrest in style
Endurance, heat and dust were just some of the elements Sipho Khupiso and his RMB Change a Life MTB Academy teammates had to overcome at the recent Sunday Tribune Jeep Hill2Hill MTB ultra-marathon. PHOTO: SUPPLIED

W
HILE James Reid and Candice Neethling earned themselves the 2014 Sunday Tribune Jeep Hill2Hill men’s and women’s titles respectively, Martin Dreyer’s RMB Change a Life Academy’s mountain bike squad clinched their piece of the limelight on Sunday. They claimed five of the top 21 positions in the gruelling 105km journey from Hilton to Hillcrest. Sithembiso Masango was a shining light for the Valley of a Thousand Hills outfit. He romped home in a sublime seventh position, less than 13 minutes behind Trek South Africa’s Reid’s winning time of 3:38.48 in the company of the likes of TIB Insurance’s Andrew Hill, Team Jeep’s Matthew Beers, Can-
nondale Blend’s Darren Lill, Quattro’s Tyron Bird and Team Jeep's Derrin Smith. “I’m just so proud of not only Sithembiso, but the whole squad. What the guys managed to achieve out there at Hill2Hill was incredible,” said academy founder Martin Dreyer. “Wetargetedthisoneasthe one race this season that we really wanted to try and make an impact at because it’s tough, long and super popular where so many things can go wrong. “If you manage to get a top 20 it means a lot and you can be very proud of your achievement. “A lot comes into play in a 105km ultra-marathon like Hill2Hill, you really have to be able to pace yourself well and get your race nutrition spot on. “The top guys have all been
around the block which, together with the heat on the day, meant there was just no room for error. “So to have six riders in the top 26 at KZN’s toughest race is just amazing for us and to see the guys progressing so well really is motivating for the riders,” he added. After a string of good results recently, academy MTB team captain John Ntuli claimed yet another high profile race top 20 finish when he crossed the line in 16th position. His young charges, however, appear to be relishing almost too well under his mentorship though as the likes of Mboneni Ngcobo (12th) and Ndumiso Dontso (15th) joined Masango in the post-race festivities ahead of Ntuli. FEVER REPORTER GREAT Annual Bicycle Ride Across Natal (GABRAN) was revived thanks to the support of the Mr PriceSportCycle Club, spearheaded by Kelvin du Sart, with over 150 entrants this year. This 300km, three day cycle tour from Drakensville to Hillcrest
was held in aid of raising funds for the COWS – a fundraising arm of CHOC (Childhood Heamotology Oncoloy Clinics). Much-needed funds were raised for all the “little superheroes” fighting various forms of cancer. “We were blown away when we counted the “moo-lah” and
cametoagrandfigureofR40000. “We could not believe our “hooves” when 10 days later, Liviero, who had sent some riders on this event, confirmed a further donation of R45 000 to the cause. “Thank you from the bottom of our hooves!” says Lynne Macrae, “media moo” from the Durban COW herd.
