BLACK FRIDAY AT ITS BEST While being chaotic and crazy, Black Friday has the best deals of the year. One of the bigger Black Friday participants is Walmart. It held three events this year, one at 8pm, one at 10pm, and one at 5am. They had 10 million registered transactions and around 5,000 items sold per second. Their first sale, at 8pm, customers were on the hunt for a wide variety of items not including electronics. Their second sale, at 10pm, was dedicated to electronics. Walmart had a successful Black Friday, of the year 2012, with very positive feedback from its customers. Other stores that participate include Best Buy, Target, Khols, JC Penneys, Kmart, Costco, Toys ‘R’ Us, Macy’s, and Sears.
BLACK FRIDAY AT ITS WORST Early morning wake up call after an evening of fattening yourself up from Thanksgiving, it’s time for Black Friday. You now drive up at the AM of your choosing, and fight for a parking spot. Now the wait is on. You occupy yourself with whatever you stuck in your car, along with the people you brought. The time is now, you rush into the store along with hundreds upon hundreds of other people hunting for the best deals under very stressful circumstances. Your strategy: divide and conquer. After you’ve gathered your hunted items, it’s time to join the line. You wait for what seems like days then you can finally leave. You gather your troops and look for the car. Get out without a fender bender and you’re good to go! This is one of the luckier cases you managed not to get trampled, pepper sprayed, and in some extreme cases shot.

Reindeer Cupcakes
1 box Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® cake mix (any non-swirl flavor) Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box 1 container Betty Crocker® Rich & Creamy chocolate frosting Betty Crocker® chocolate sprinkles (enough for sprinkling) 24 large pretzel twists 24 miniature marshmallows 24 red cinnamon candies 24 small red gumdrops Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Make and cool cake as directed on box for 24 cupcakes. Frost cupcakes with frosting. Sprinkle chocolate shot over tops of cupcakes. For each cupcake, cut pretzel twist in half; arrange on cupcake for reindeer antlers. Cut miniature marshmallow in half; arrange on cupcake for eyes. Center gumdrop below marshmallow halves for nose. Place red cinnamon candy below gumdrop for mouth. Store loosely covered. Makes 24 cupcakes
Snow People 1/2 package (16-ounce size) vanilla-flavored candy coating (almond bark) 24 large marshmallows 12 large pretzel rods 24 large gumdrops 24 miniature semisweet chocolate chips About 3 Betty Crocker® Fruit Roll-Ups® (from 5-ounce package) Cover cookie sheet with foil or waxed paper. Melt candy coating as directed on package. Thread 2 marshmallows on each pretzel rod so marshmallows are at one end of pretzel. For hat brim, press gumdrop to flatten and attach to top of pretzel, using melted coating; press and hold brim about 5 seconds. For top of hat, attach another gumdrop, flat side down, on center of brim, using melted coating; press and hold about 5 seconds. Place pretzel in empty beverage glass to hold upright; let stand about 20 minutes or until set. For eyes, attach chocolate chips to marshmallow, using melted coating. Repeat with remaining gumdrops, pretzels, marshmallows and chocolate chips. Cut fruit snack rolls into strips, about 6 inches long and 1/4 inch wide; place on snow people for scarves. I have been good this year. How are your reindeer? For Christmas I want a Barbie doll fairy princess, My little pony, Princess sticker book, and a stuffed animal horsey. This year mommy and daddy said i have been a good boy. I want you to bring me a remote control truck, a Wii, soccer ball, and Spiderman everything.
Christmas is my favorite holiday. You are the best guy ever, giving lots of presents to kids. How have you been? How are your reindeer? I have been good this year. This year I want My little pet shops, a necklace, a nail art design set, and an ipod. I have been trying really hard to be good this year. some people at school dont believe in you, but i know your real. I know it’s very hard for my mommy and daddy to get me presents because I am just a baby, so I am writing a list for all parents to use when they need to get their baby or toddler something! I would love a fuzzy blanket and a teddy bear for Christmas this year Santa! And soft PJ’s too! (feety pajamas would be nice!) Since it is so cold this time of year, I need warm and fuzzy things to keep me warm so I can sleep through the night. (or until I’m hungry again!) I also would enjoy things that rattle or make noise! Like rattles, drums, or toys that I can chew on are just perfect! Also, if something sings, I will probably just adore it! Now, my older cousin (she’s three) loves to watch TV. She will look at the commercials and say something like, “I want that!” but I always hear my mommy and daddy talking to her mommy and daddy about whether she actually wants that or if she just thinks
she does. Most of the time, if she really wants something, she will repeat it to her mommy and daddy over and over again. She got a Dora toy for her birthday and she just loved it. So I think that most toddlers would enjoy one of those. She also got a stuffed mini mouse and loved it. So Dora toys and stuffed dolls or teddy bears are good presents for toddlers too. Sometimes, a life-sized stuffed toy is the perfect gift too. Unless they would get scared of it... I know that some toddlers would see a life-sized teddy bear and be afraid of it. Also, toddlers love to eat sugar and most of them love getting things like M ‘n M’s for Christmas. She got an M ‘n M dispenser for Christmas and she just loved it. I think that as long as the age on the toy is around your toddler’s age, you really can’t go wrong! Hope you get this Santa! Merry Christmas.

Give back during Christmas time ... Christmas isn’t all about getting, getting, getting. Christmas is about giving. A lot of people choose to spend their Christmas at a soup kitchen giving dinner to the less fortunate. Also, others ring the bell for the Salvation Army in front of stores to get money to help the homeless and less fortunate. These are just two community service opportunities that really make you feel good. Another opportunity is at your school. If your family has a home and a meal every night, you are fortunate and probably have something to give. A lot of kids who are involved with extracurricu-
