As we stepped into a new year and a new deca de, it was evid ent that 2020 woul d be significan t — but who could have imagined th e circumstances that we have al l faced as a glob al community th ese past months. On Vision Sund ay, I began to declare “Holy Spirit Signific ance”, believin g that we would experien ce afresh the wind and fruit of God’s Spirit blowing across our lives and church. As the first part of the year has progressed , we have cert ainly witnesse unprecedented d territory acro ss the Body of Christ, yet re markably, our church appears to be in great health, with ev eryone pressing onward with renewed st rength and conviction. We have given cons cientious diligence to pa storing and ca ring for people adversely affe cted by this se ason, and we thank you for allowing the “s torehouse” to remain strong. The Gospel of Mark records th e story of a woman whose gi ft and sacrific e was of deep significance to Christ. As He was preparing to pour out Hi s life for the salvation of humanity sh e also, in devo tion and gratitude, pour ed out all that she had. With what was the eq uivalent of a year’s salary, she purchased a jar of expens ive perfume, broke it, and poured it over Jesus’ head and body. In do ing so she anoi nted him for death, burial, and ultimately resurrection. The fragrance of what she di d filled the entire house an d became an ac t of love that the Lord said would inspire and be retold for generation s (Mark 14:1-3 ). As we approach our “Heart for the House” season and offe ring, our pray er is that our collective devotion and ge nerosity will again be recorded as si gnificant to the Cause of Ch rist on the ea rth, and that

Homes of Peace is Hillsong Ci tycare's flagship progra m for women fa cing domestic and fa mily violence. Since launching thre e and a half ye ars ago, Homes of Peace has seen a tota l of 36 families, that represent 83 wo men and children, achi eve significan t life goals and succ essfully transi tion into independent li ving. As instances of domestic violen ce have escalated thro ughout the COVI D-19 pandemic, our support has ne ver been more crucial. This year, we continue partnering with Homes of Peace in their efforts to prov ide transition al housing and case manage ment support to increase the safety and wellbeing of wo men and their families facing domestic and family violence .
MICHELLE’S STOR Y When Michelle* came into the Homes of Peace program with her child after leaving a dome stic family vi olence situation, she was working as a fulltime cleaner. Previously an accountant and finance le cturer in her country of origin, Michel le expressed to her Homes of Peace case manager a desi re to move into an office role. After re searching training course s, her case ma nager was able to connec t Michelle with a paid finance/bookke eping trainees hip.
