CIRCLE CITY AERODROME ANGEL BURLESQUE • Q ARTISTRY INDIANA POLIS, IN
WELCOME TO
This includes Steampunkaneers as well as people who aren’t Steampunk at all; the fascinated, the curious, and the completely confused. Welcome, all of you, to the Circle City Aerodrome. A few simple things for you to know and remember this weekend: • Nobody owns Steampunk and that is one of its greatest strengths. • Everyone was new to Steampunk once. • Be as Steampunk as you want to be. • Costumes don’t mean consent. • Imagination encouraged – commonsense required. We’ve formalized these ideas in our Circle City Aerodrome EOS {Equal Opportunity Statement}: “We are nondiscriminatory in however you may interpret the steampunk genre whether by race, class, gender, religion, orientation, time-period, or dimension.” We also have a full Code of Conduct which is located in our program and available at CCA Customs. Having said that, come look around and meet the denizens of the Aerodrome, fellow travelers and the occasional native speaking Hoosier. We’ve come together to create a trans-dimensional travel hub open for everyone. We’re all here to be part of the entertainment, live music, celebrations, games, theatre, dance, things to learn, things to taste, new experiences, friendly people, surprises, discussions, cabaret, and so much more yet to be imagined or realized. Step through & play!
Kat Alyst CHIEF LIAISON OFFICER CIRCLE CITY AERODROME
DOs & DON’Ts We have a strict no tolerance policy for the following behaviors {NO exceptions}: • S exual harassment {lewd & lascivious behavior} • Public intoxication

STEAMPUNK THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS: CIRCLE CITY AERODROME 2015 CODE OF CONDUCT To help ensure our attendees’ happiness and a successful convention, we have established a Code of Conduct for all attendees {no exceptions}. We have no desire to police attendees, but we do have some requests and expectations that will help ensure a pleasurable weekend for all.
GENERAL DEMEANOR – COMMON SENSE REQUIRED The Columbia Club is a private club with paying members. As such, it is not dedicated to our use for the weekend. Members of the Club stay here or visit to dine and socialize. Please be considerate of non-event individuals at all times. CCA expects its event attendees to respect each other and behave in a generally civilized* manner. Attendees should respect common sense rules for public behavior, personal interaction, common courtesy, and respect for private property. If you wouldn’t do it at home or in front of your mom, please don’t do it here. For issues to be properly handled, incidents in which an attendee of the event {guest or staff} is abusive, insulting, intimidating, bothersome, or acting in an unsafe or illegal manner, MUST be reported to the Club Security Staff immediately. Sleeping in public areas of the Columbia Club is forbidden by the management. This is private property. The Columbia Club strictly forbids throwing, dropping, or flying anything from the balcony or over the lobby. Program participants and event coordinators are responsible for the comfort and safety of members in their areas. Disruptive behavior by children or adults will not be tolerated, and any actions disturbing to attendees may result in a request to leave. The Club {and City} prohibits smoking in all event areas. The legal drinking age in Indiana is 21. You may be
asked to provide a valid ID if ordering alcoholic beverages. All alcoholic beverages must be purchased through the Columbia Club. The Columbia Club may confiscate any privately purchased alcohol, prevent you from bringing it onto the property, or take other actions {such as placing a large corkage charge on your bill}. Laws governing illegal substances, obscenity, weapons, public behavior, and the treatment of minors must be strictly observed.
WEAPONS POLICY Weapons: Individuals are prohibited from possessing functional firearms, explosives or items designated as weapons by Circle City Aerodrome and /or the Columbia Club. Any individual found in possession of a functional weapon will be reported to security and ejected from the event regardless of the individual’s carry status or credentials. Weapon-like Props: Weapon-like props are to be, at all times, sheathed, holstered or slung, unloaded, inert or otherwise rendered nonfunctional and never used in a provoking, harassing or threatening manner. Due to recent safety and legal concerns, individuals with “deactivated” firearms, realistic looking or replica weapons, or any item otherwise designated or deemed unsafe regardless of whether it conforms to policy or the ‘letter of the law’ will be considered on a case by case basis. For any individual in violation of policy or found to be under the influence carrying a weapon-like prop, Circle City Aerodrome reserves the right to require the individual to comply with the above conditions, and may direct the guest to remove the item from the premises or Club Security may confiscate the item for the duration of the event. ** If you are concerned that your weapon-like prop may be viewed as a weapon or inadmissible please contact circlecityaerodrome@gmail.com with your concerns. **
VIOLATING THE CODE OF CONDUCT Anyone exhibiting behavior that is not in line with the intent of this Code of Conduct may be asked to vacate the premises {i.e., expelled from the event} without refund. If expelled, neither the Circle City Aerodrome {CCA}, Q Artistry, Angel Burlesque, nor the Columbia Club will be responsible for refunding any direct or tangential costs {such as, but not limited to, hotel room and transportation} associated with your attendance at the event. Persons violating the law may be turned over to the police or the hotel security force.
PRESS POLICY If you are acting on behalf of a publication, video production organization, or news medium of any kind {freelance or employed; commercial publication, media, or fanzine}, you must go to the CCA Information Table {“Customs”} in the Lobby and inform our staff that you are on premises. Individuals or organizations violating these guidelines by selling, reproducing, broadcasting, or publishing materials obtained at a Circle City Aerodrome event without the permission of CCA may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Unconventional Treasure Hunting: No Digging Required
Since the mid-1800s, people have been secretly placing hidden treasures throughout the world for others to discover. Lady Anne Raven introduces you to this secret and mystical pursuit, explains how the forces of the universe can be harnessed to help you locate these hidden treasures, and then takes you on a real live geo-hunt expedition. This workshop appeals to explorers, artists, makers, gadget lovers, and the kid in all of us. Over the last ten years they have located more than 5,000 geocaches in 4 countries — including 40 territories of North America. They have also crafted and hidden over 100 treasure boxes of their own and have been known to stumble across a Letterbox or two and rack up Munzee points while traveling in their dirigible. Lost Tribes, Sunken Continents, and Ancient Astronauts? Critical Thinking about Alternative Histories from the American Heartland
This lighthearted, heavily illustrated allocution and discussion examines fantastic claims about the past from right here in the Indiana region—including ancient alien interventions, crop circles, big foot and other cryptozoids, Atlantis, and assorted transoceanic explorations well before Columbus. Such ideas are fun to think about, but how well do they hold up under the scrutiny of critical thinking, and could some of them even be dangerous? INSTRUCTOR Dr. Larry Zimmerman Dr. Larry J. Zimmerman is Professor of Anthropology and Museum Studies at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis {IUPUI} and Public Scholar of Native American Representation at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art. He taught at the Univ. of South Dakota from 1974–1996. After leaving there as Distinguished Regents Professor, he served as Chair of American Indian and Native Studies at the University of Iowa until 2001, then as
Head of the Archaeology Department for the Minnesota Historical Society until 2004. He is a past VP of the World Archaeological Congress, which in 2008 awarded him the Peter J. Ucko Medal for his contributions to world archaeology. He has published more than 25 professional and popular books and nearly 300 papers on Native Americans, ethics in archaeology, pseudoscience in archaeology, and cultural heritage management. He regularly teaches a course at IUPUI called “Lost Tribes, Sunken Continents, and Ancient Astronauts: Pseudoscience and the Past.” Look for his forthcoming book on the topic, 50 Great Myths in Archaeology, to be published by Blackwell in late 2015. The group’s application of new technologies and publishing on demand reduced the cost of publishing a book to a fraction of what it had been for previous generations; authors now have the ability to publish a book in as little as six weeks and print as few as a single copy. Suitable for both beginners with no idea where to start and more experienced Steampunks who want to discover more about their alter ego. Participants under 15 must be accompanied by an assisting adult. INSTRUCTOR Airship Passapartout Airship Passapartout is a steampunk group based out of Dayton, Ohio. They started slowly in 2010 and have since been building steam. Currently they gather together at least once per month for some type of activity such as a picnic, stroll, parlour games, tea, caravan to a large event, or just social drinking. SUNDAY 11a – 12:30p

Walk Urban Indy’s Promenade around Victorian Indianapolis
Step back in time, literally, and take a 1.5 mile historical walk around downtown Indianapolis featuring Victorian-age architecture. Indianapolis was established in 1820; the Capitol was moved from its former location in Corydon on the Ohio River in 1825. The City was originally designed to be one-mile square with the city limits set as North, South, East and West streets. INSTRUCTOR Alexandria Spizengard, CCA Ticketing Agent and co-founder of Walk Urban Indy
In her regular life, Alexandria goes by the name Brenda Havens and is co-founder of Walk Urban Indy {WUI}, a local, grassroots organization encouraging residents to walk in their neighborhoods {as a health initiative and so much more}. The first walk WUI {pronounced woo-y} establishes in a neighborhood is always an historical walk tying the past, present, and the future together. Check us out on Meetup. com to see where we are walking, or on our website, walkurbanindy.org. SATURDAY 4:15 – 5:15p
