ELITE INDIANA STATE CRITERIUM CHAMPIONSHIPS
6TH ANNUAL MASS AVE CRITERIUM SPONSOR PACKAGE
WHAT IS THE MASS AVE. CRITERIUM ... The 6th Mass Ave. Criterium will be held on Saturday, August 10th, 2013. The Mass Ave. Criterium displays the always stylish and scenic Downtown community in an exciting light to racers, supporters, and fans of bike racing. The MAC provides interested corporations, organizations, and individuals an opportunity to promote and participate in a positive, family-friendly, healthy way. The 2013 Mass Ave. Criterium is a challenging 3-corner technical course where bikers are separated by skill level and/or age, with races at speeds of about 30mph. The MAC will be held in the beautiful, hip, thriving arts and entertainment city streets of the Mass Ave. neighborhood, one of six Indianapolis Cultural Districts. The Mass Ave. Merchants Association is an active supporter of the race on the “Ave.” Ending the MAC at twilight will take advantage of the nightlife crowds on a Saturday night and maximize the supporters’ enjoyment of the race and the evening. 2012 continued to grow another successful race with participation over 320 racers’ and our audience continued to climb with over 5,000 in attendance. Mayor Ballard, bicycle advocate and a former Little 500 cyclist, addressed the audience and congratulated all of the cyclists. There were 150 combined staff and volunteers helping with the kids’ safety rodeo, Pedal and Park, New Belgium Beer Garden and course security.

TESTIMONIALS FROM 2012 “The Central Indiana Bicycling Association is pleased to have been a part of the Mass Avenue Crit for the last two years. The MAC has been well organized and seems to draw a larger crowd every year. The Mass Avenue Crit allows CIBA a terrific venue to promote our club and to attract new members. We are looking forward to being a part of the MAC again in 2013.” — Joe Hettle
Board Member & Director Public Relations Central Indiana Bicycling Association
“Green BEAN Delivery had a fantastic time at the 2012 Mass Ave Criterium. We met a TON of spectators and athletes who were very interested in signing up for our service. The organization, coordination and promotion of the entire event was impressively executed by the NUVO team and we are looking very forward to returning as a Sponsor in 2013.” — James Nimmer
Marketing Coordinator Green BEAN Delivery
“INDYCOG has been a regular participant with the MAC for years and we can continue this relationship because this event brings out thousands of people to watch a day of exciting bicycle racing in downtown Indianapolis. We always have a high volume of traffic at our table, which helps us spread the word about bicycle safety, recruit new members and sell merchandise that helps fund our organization. It is one of the events we look most forward to every year.” — Kevin Whited
Executive Director INDYCOG

“As a cycling fan, I believe the Mass Ave Crit is the most exciting annual local sporting event Indy has to offer. From the color of the of the pack screaming down Mass Ave at 40 mph to the sound of 60 wheels spinning together and the breeze that follows, the MAC allows fans to be inches away from the competitors. Being a volunteer brings one even closer to the action. It is a privilege to play a role in making it happen smoothly and safely for both riders and spectators. Additionally, the visiting teams with their equipment, the vendors, the shopkeepers’ with their open doors, and the music and race commentary filling the air give Mass Ave. the most electric atmosphere of the year. It’s a thrill to be involved.” — Mitra Parsapour 2x MAC Volunteer

Bicycles will pull elaborately decorated floats, there will be musicians on bikes, unusual types of bikes and much more. At the completion of the parade, awards for best float in several categories, will be presented. Unlike a traditional parade, the Indy Bicycle Parade will be a green parade with no motorized vehicles. Participants will enter a float or be on bikes.
