Vision Canley vale town centre will become a people centric place to live and work. It will offer an enhanced experiential quality by seamlessly blending with the creek though an established green network. The town centre will facilitate appropriate change and growth, integrating civic, residential and commercial activities.

blurring the divide between built and park
people will now be able to get down into a plaza from the new connection established over the railway line. this will open into canley vale road on the left, and towards the green and creek on the right, thus opening canley vale to the creek

Aim
Aim
Aim
to encourage walking within the town centre by increasing the permiabilty within, and discouraging cars by giving the streets back to the people
to redevelop and upgrade canley vale by upgrading the built environment and providing community functions and spaces.
to make the town centre walkable, prioritising pedestrians over vehicles by keeping the traffic in the outskirts of the town centre
Phase 1
Phase 1
Phase 1
First half of Canley Vale road will be completely pedestrianised. The second half of it, will be one way allowing the residents to access their lots. The one way road will be designed as a slow zone. The success of this will determine phase 2.
The redevelopment of canley vale will begin with the development of council properties - community centre at nursery, library in the middle, and community activities on 2nd and 3rd floor of the car park in the north.
Phase 2
Phase 2
the traffic influx at canley vale road from railway parade will be stopped, and as previously mentioned, the town centre exit road will be completed. the material changes will applied to make it pedestrianised and one way (second half). phelp street will be redesigned to incorporate the proposed bioswales, walkable areas and new driveways.
If phase 1 is successful, the second half of canley vale road within the town centre will be pedetsrianised. Clifford Ave will be extended to meet Prevensey Rd. This will allow for the residents to access their lots via vehicles.
2A This phase will be divided into parts.
Phase 2A will focus on developing the built environment along the pedestrianised canley vale road. Once, these are established, the other buildings (towards one way canley vale 2B road) will be developed.
Phase 3
Phase 3
To further increase the permeability within canley vale, when the school is redeveloped (upon reaching full capacity), a connection through it will be established.
the third phase of the third phase will focus on developing the properties along phelp street, which will be well established till the time phase 3 is reached. Social housing, council property, will be developed in this phase
Phase 2 upon the commencement of phase 2 of walkabiltiy, the one way on canley vale will be closed to make way for a seemless pedestrian connect. instead, a new route will be developed by extending clifford ave to prevensey road.
phasing Open Spaces Phasing
Reduction of Parking Phasing
Aim
Aim
to establish plazas of different characters giving an identity to canley vale. these will also a healthier and walkable environment.
to redevelop and upgrade canley vale by upgrading the built environment and providing community functions and spaces.
Phase 1
Phase 1
the nursery and entrance plaza will be developed first as the two anchors of canley vale road.
the parking from canley vale road will be removed first as it is being pedestrianised
Phase 2
Phase 2
library plaza will be developed second, making a connection between both the plazas, and library a permiable space
once the nursery is developed, phelp street will be upgraded to incorporate bioswales and give equal priority to pedestrians
Phase 3
Phase 3
lastly, the plaza under the car park will be developed. this will allow people to adjust slowly to the reduced parking and a more walkable space. however, adams park will be developed in phase 1.
finally, in the last phase 2 floors of parking will be removed from the car park to give space to community functions. parking spaces in adams park will be retained. more spaces will be introduced in the new building coming up in the place of nursery. basement parking will be introduced in residential buildings.
