Free Family Fun Run – Sunday! The Zonta Club of Blackall Range is hosting a Family Fun Run this coming Sunday in recognition of domestic violence awareness month. The 5km fun run aims to bring community members together to raise awareness of family and domestic violence and promote the need for ongoing vigilance to improve prevention. “Domestic and family violence is unacceptable and it’s important we as a community keep highlighting the message that we need to work together to stop it,” fun run organiser Kiti Bruinsma
said. “It’s an important issue and everyone is welcome to attend the fun run to show their support in a friendly relaxed environment. “Bring your husbands and wives, partners, children, pet dogs on a leash, and get dressed in purple to add to the spectacle and strengthen the community’s message.” The fun run will be held at 7.30 am on Sunday, May 16, at Porters Lane, Maleny (meeting at the Maleny District Sport and Recreation Club headquarters on the Maleny Precinct).
Maleny District Sport and Recreation Club Inc
The fun run follows the same 5km course as the Maleny Trail parkrun. Be there early to prepare and sign in! This is a free event and runners are encouraged to wear purple, which is the colour for domestic violence prevention. Zonta is thankful for the generous support of the Maleny District Sport and Recreation Club. For further information, phone organiser Kiti Bruinsma on 0499888943. by Paul Large Hello, my name Is Paul Large. My wife, Leanne, and I have been longterm residents of Maleny. Perhaps you’ve seen us around or recognise our faces. We are/have been involved with the local Maleny Girl Guides, Quota Club and the CWA. Prior to this, we were tireless contributors to both our Warwick and Stanthorpe communities. At the moment, with a smaller, unmodi ed car, Leanne’s legs have to be squashed so that the door can close. This is extremely painful and, as a result, means that we limit any car trips to less than an hour. Our daughter lives and works nine hours away, so it’s almost impossible to visit her at present. We are reaching out to the community for help in our quest to purchase a more suitable car. If you would like to make a small donation, please go to this link: https://gofund.me/cfcfbdd6 Photo Above: Leanne and Paul Large

Maleny Golf Club New Record Set! Breaking News!
Athertons Will Florimo sets new course record with a superb 63 from the Mountain tees! Today’s stroke round was the rst time players have tested the new layout that includes new tees on the 5th, 9th, 10th and 15th holes. Well played Will. We love having you visit Maleny Golf Club!
It was easy to get distracted by the gorgeous views around the course like here looking at this gorgeous view that greets you when you walk out on the deck overlooking the Par 4 18th. On the right is the Par 5 9th and the left is the Par 4 10th. You can also see multiple holes on the back right and back left. Maleny Golf Club has also changed its tees from colours to names. They are now called Farm, Obi & Mountain and if playing socially you can pick which tees to play depending on how much you want to test your game on that day.

Maleny Coat Rack is Back There have been many inquiries regarding the Maleny Coat Rack now the weather has cooled down again. Organisers are happy to advise that the Rack is Back and is up and running in the laneway next to IGA. Your donations of jackets, coats, jumpers and cardigans for men, women and children are welcomed. The rack can only take the above mentioned items as it is most important that everyone respects the IGA premises, so the rack must be kept small, tidy, and non intrusive to the IGA store and their customers. It is ever so kind of IGA to support the rack, they take in inside their store each evening as they close and bring it out each morning as they open, which is such a community supporting act if kindness.

The Range Croquet Club - Maleny Our team played our rst Lochwood away game against a combined Coolum Noosa team consisting of George Oliver (Coolum) and John Olsen (Noosa) on Wednesday.
Donna the victor at 26-17. Meanwhile, Stuart Craig and Helen Andrews went down to Wallace Roy with 4 hoops to Wallace’s 17. A great win for Wallace!
Ken Barker lost to George however Sarah Widen played well to beat John in a tight game. In the afternoon after the heavy storm which included thunder, lightning and hail had passed through, Donna Manning and Sarah were unlucky to lose their game against John and George.
As a club we are proud of two of our newer members, Janelle and Lynette, who played in the Ernie Melville singles Div 3 and Div 4 tournament at Stephens Club at Yeronga in Brisbane. They both played well, winning several games between them and playing commendably in their other matches.
Congratulations to Cooloosa on a 2 – 1 win. The attached photo shows, from left, Sarah, John, George, and Donna sheltering from the storm.
In other news, we were delighted to award Kath Smith a lifetime membership of our club. Well done, Kath! It has been a pleasure to play alongside you for all these years.
Last Thursday, on our play day, we changed things up with Donna providing some coaching to Janelle Wilson, Bev Sockhill, Lynette Evans and Helen Uhlmann with the able assistance of Helen Andrews.
Finally, a hearty thanks to Sarah and Wallace for their upkeep of our lovely lawns. We all bene t greatly from their grand efforts.
