Seven Samurai Notes and Sketches

In my priminary sketches I wanted to focus around two main scenes, walking to the village and after the battle. I also focused a concept showing all seven of the samurai. No matter which concept I went with I wanted to use the kanji writting for the movie title. The final route I chose after this stage was the minimalist theme.

Digital Sketches

The next step of the project was take the ten strongest concepts from the priminary sketches and put them in the computer. After that revise and cut down.

I really liked this one out of my set of 10 because of the minimalist design. It said enough about the movie to get people attracted, and it made more sense for those who actually watched the movie. I chose this one to continue on with for the next step in the project.

This was my favorite from the series. I really enjoyed the shillouette concept for my dvd cover, and I liked the splash of color to make it a bit more interesting. Similar to the previous, the little color splash is appeasing for people browsing but makes more sense for those who watch the movie.

This was my favorite concept after the revision, I like the shillouettes used throughout the spread. I also really like the scene created on the inside of the dvd package.

I really liked this color scheme better than the previous design, but not the inside as much. I liked the minalist feel but it was a bit too conjested at this stage.
