Welcome
Friends and Brangus Family!
As many of you may know, there have been changes made here at Villa Ranch. One of the changes being that we were able to have partnered and taken over Don Cox’s Sale and continue his legacy. As this new era begins, we hope to continue to keep the same passion that Cox Excalibur has established and provided for many years. As breeders, we are very honored to have received this great and unique opportunity to continue to have a great sale for many years to come. We are happy to also have Jose Ramirez! He is truly a Master Cattleman! We hope to showcase everyone’s cattle as what they are: good cattle! Everyone always hears the saying that good cattle will sell and we believe that’s true to its core. Whether you’re looking for genetics, heifers, bulls, or a good time we hope to have met your needs!
We are excited to see everyone at the sale October 14th at Cox Excalibur’s Ranch in Weimar, Texas. We hope that you enjoy our hospitality as we all come together in our shared passion of the Brangus Breed.

Buffaloes Wilma 193K2 come from a long line of Buffaloe raised 193 cattle. We acquired 193N in an R2 sale in 2003. She was Lissa Buffaloe Traber’s first show heifer, affectionatley known as “Lola the Show Heifer.” Lola was a 1/4 blood, whose sire was Leachman Marias daughter, the highest marbling bull in the Red Angus breed at that time. Buffaloes Wilma 193K2’s dam is a 193C/H whose dam was Buffaloes 193C, acquired by Gordon Miller for the High Star herd. I purchased 193C/H from Gordon, knowing the genetic package. Steve and Vickie Mimms have a champion bull from a Buffaloe 193 heifer purchased at a CX Sale. Milton and April Villreal visited the ranch in early August and spotted a 193L bull calf that is extremely stylish. Bullfaloes Wilma 193K2 is sired by Buffaloes Luke 225G who we call Tubby because of his thickness and bone. If you have been around Red Brangus a while, you know the value of 225 genetics. Bufaloes Wilma 193K2 will make and excellent show heifer or replacement cow. You’ll make a good move adding 193 and 225 genetics to your herd.

Her paternal grand sire, MC PROFIT 924B16 is a genetic outcross to the Red Brangus breed adding carcass, feed efficiency and genomic value. Her sire, TJR NO LIMIT 504/F6 is a product of TJR’S “NEW BRANGUS” program, which is entirely focused on improving Red Brangus genetics. INTERNATIONAL BRANGUS FOUNDATION
THE INTERNATIONAL BRANGUS FOUNDATION (IBF) has been reinvigorated in its organization and fundraising efforts to carry out its mission. The Foundation objectives are to fund projects with the purpose of advancing the livestock industry benefiting Brangus breeders and other beef producers today, and in the future. Education and research are at the core of the programs the Foundation funds and support. Their goal is to educate the beef cattle industry on topics such as Brangus genetics and production practices.
There are two current and ongoing ways that we as IBBA members and Red Brangus breeders can invest in our future through the IBF.
“Bullish on Brangus” is the commitment of IBBA members to contribute a portion of the sale of their cattle and genetics to the IBF to fund the research projects. We support and believe in the mission of the Brangus Foundation and is donating $10 from each lot to the Foundation. We encourage every Red Brangus and Brangus to follow the projects and efforts of the Brangus Foundation and consider giving a portion of every head you sell to further research and promotion of our breed.
“Brangus Value Project” is high project to prove that Brangus genetics deserve a larger footprint in the U.S. beef industry. It is a good old fashioned progeny test. The project seeks to engage commercial cooperators with at least 140 cows eligible to synchronize and breed as a group provide the opportunity to test two sires head-tohead. Each enrolled A.I. sire is bred to approximately 70 cows. The goal is to product at least 15 steer calves of the same age that will be fed and harvested with comprehensive collection of data from start to finish. This fall, the first load of 110 head will enter the feed yard.
You are probably asking yourself by now “How can I support this critical effort?” The comprehensive data that we seek to gather in this project requires a significant investment. This is not a one-time deal. It is a continuous commitment, to collect large sets of reliable and relevant data. It is supported in the IBBA Long Term Plan as a 10-year project.
As a Platinum Sponsor of the Brangus Value Project, for a tax deductible contribution of $500, you will receive ...
• Brangus beef shipped directly to you in a full strip loin from the test group (less one steak that was used in the tenderness test).
• The opportunity to purchase on additional full strip loin from the same group of test animals.
• Voucher for 50% discount on 10 units of semen on any sire used in the project.
• Invitation to a sponsor only webinar at the conclusion of each test where all data will be presented.
Information on both of these initiatives will be available at the Power of the Brands. You may also contact ...

Excalibur COX
As most of you know, my family, friends and colleagues are very important to me. I have been blessed for the past 40 years to have been associated with some special people. I came up with the CX Hall of Fame to recognize those individuals who have stood by my side no matter what; have been my mentors; have provided invaluable friendship; and worked many hours with me creating the Cox Excalibur program!
I thank each and everyone of you!
