I’m Hiruni Abeyawardena from Final year Fashion design & textile programme. In the Final Major project, I’ve come to realize that it is a basic necessity for a person to fine-tune the certainty of this fragile life in order to make an authentic living by exploring what is familiar to oneself in the face of reality. The Autumn/Winter 22' collections called “US” aims to portray the fragility and authentic feel of one’s life through a visual presentation of the design looks. To build the final collection, several minimal components, such as a design scenario, 'Reclaiming craft in post-pandemic society,' and garment design inspirations predominantly focused on ancient Japanese cultural values, heritage, and authentic crafting methods were used.
