Happy Father's Day!
ow many of us as kids remember our parents telling us not to go to a place that was unsafe to play around? At times we would listen and stay away, but how many other times did we not listen and went to play in that area anyway? I did that a couple of times. But I remember the last time, and it didn't feel great. After the punishment was done though, I would be talked to and told that, when you're told not to do something but you go ahead and do it anyway, then there are consequences for your actions. Remember when you were punished? It didn't feel very good, did it? Well, that is what happens when we

sin against God. He loves us very much, yet He has no choice but to punish us for our sin; He will take so much from us. Sin naturally to the flesh feels really good and it can be enjoyable and God will let this go on, but only for a season. Then He will punish us if we don't repent, because there are always consequences that come from sinning. Obedience is what is required to show God that we love Him, so obey His word, as Sergeant York did. We see his obedient heart in action...This comes from the 1941 movie, Sergeant York; the true story of Alvin York who grew up a Tennessee mountaineer. He was a hard drinking, brawling and a sharp shooting man, who would become an American hero of World War I. When Alvin York was growing up in Tennessee, he was a hard case. He would spend his time split between working the family farm, out
hunting in the nearby mountains and causing a whole lot of trouble. But when Alvin was a young man, everything changed in his life when he gave his live to Jesus Christ. Alvin stopped fighting and drinking; he also began to read and study his Bible passionately. Everyone in the mountain community noticed that Alvin was a changed man. It was the arrival of World War I that clearly brought light to Alvin's changed life. He was drafted and with the harsh reality of war, he felt that he no longer liked fighting. Alvin applied for the status of a 'conscientious objector;' he did this hoping that he could escape joining the army and going to war. But Alvin's request was denied and he joined the army as a Private. Alvin's commander, Major Buxton, was a Christian also. He told Alvin to study his Bible and all the scriptures that were linked to war,

self defense and obedience to country. Up to this point, Alvin was prepared to face whatever the penalty would be for disobedience to his orders when it came to killing during war time. But after some time to reflect, he decided to take Major Buxton's advice and study his Bible and go through all the scriptures to see whether he should take a stand for his beliefs, or to go to war. After he studied and did some soul searching, Alvin came to the conclusion that he could, in good conscience, go to war. He wouldn't be disobeying God by obeying his government, which was important to him. In September of 1918, he was in his first battle in the Argonne Forrest in northeastern France. It looked like hell; bare dirt heaved up by hundreds of artillery shells with areas of bushes, dead soldiers and burned trees, surrounded by

mud. Alvin was in a manmade hell where he earned one of the sergeant stripes. Alvin's unit had become pinned down because of machine gunfire. Most of his fellow soldiers were wounded or had been killed. Alvin remembered his woodsman skills to stop the guns from firing. He ran, crawled from bush to bush, then to a tree and a large rock for protection from the flying bullets in the air. He crawled all the way up the hill where the gun was. Alvin's marksmanship shooting came through and machine gun after machine gun was finally silenced when German after German gave up and surrendered. After this one man had finished shooting, his unit was safe and he had captured 132 German soldiers, and those German soldiers carried Alvin's wounded buddies to safety. For Alvin, he had come to the conclusion that God's

orders to him were that he should obey the orders of the Army and to go and fight in war. It had been a soul wrenching decision for him to make, but because he obeyed, he was able to take out 35 machine guns and he captured 132 German soldiers. For all of his bravery in battle, Alvin received many honors worldwide for his courageous fight, but what meant more to him was just knowing that many men in his unit would live because he had taken those machine guns out. Alvin showed us how important it is to obey God and not man. There are so many different stories of obedience in the Bible; we will start with Noah and how he obeyed God. Let's think about Noah and what God asked him to do. He did everything that God had asked of him, even though it seemed pretty crazy. When you think about it, there had been no rain where Noah was, and yet Noah was
telling everyone that there was a worldwide flood coming and that flood would destroy everything. Then he started building a huge boat (ark) that would carry every animal, bird, crawly things as well as his family. He was doing this simply because God told him to build it. Genesis 6:14-16 says, "Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch. And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks." God called Abraham in the book of Genesis, chapter 12. We see that Abraham did not hesitate when God called him; he just decided to obey Him. God had an amazing plan for Abraham,
Page 5
as we see in Genesis 12:1-2 which says, "Now the Lord had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, from your family and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing." Let's put ourselves in Abram's shoes (that was his name before God changed it to Abraham.) He was told to just leave everything he knew behind, his family, friends, his work, his home and he had to leave and stop all of his worshiping false gods, to begin his long trek to a land that he knew nothing about or had no idea what it looked like. Abraham was obeying God, even though at that time he didn't know Him or had not been called before. But Abraham obeyed; he didn't ask God 'Why?', He didn't take time to think about it, or even the cost of this big move for him, as in Genesis

12:4 says, "So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. Then Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they departed to go to the land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan." How many of us would give up everything, leave it all behind, then move on to a strange place and follow a God that is totally unknown to us? God would later call on Abraham again and ask him to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, the son that God promised. It's the best example in the Bible of obedience, next to Jesus. I can't even imagine the confused state of mind that Abraham would have had at that time. You can almost see him sitting

under a cycamore tree in the heat of the day relaxing, then he hears God's voice and He says, 'Abraham, I want you to sacrifice your son for Me.' What would you do or say? I can't even imagine what and how he felt at that very moment. Whatever Abraham felt, he did what God asked him to do. Genesis 22:13 says, "Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am." Then He said, "Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you." So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him." Now Abraham left
and went to Moriah, no doubt all the way there thinking of what God wants him to do. When they arrived, his son Isaac asked him where was the lamb for the burnt offering. Genesis 22:710 says, "But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, "My father!" And he said, "Here I am, my son." And he said, "Look, the fire and wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?" And Abraham said, "My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering." So the two of them went together. Then they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order; and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. And Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son." So now Abraham was ready to make a burnt offering to God when he heard a voice; it was the voice of the Angel
June 2021
of the Lord, who called his name from heaven. The Angel of the Lord told him not to harm his son and He supplied Abraham with a ram instead. Genesis 22:11-13 says, "But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" So he said, "Here I am." And He said, "Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me." Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son." Why did God do this to Abraham? Why did God ask him to sacrifice his son? God was testing Abraham; He wanted to see if he would actually do what God had commanded him to do. When Abraham obeyed, God then

blessed Abraham for his obedience. Genesis 22:15-18 says, "Then the Angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, and said, "By Myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son - blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice." God was very pleased with Abraham for his obedience to Him. Now we will look at the obedience of Jesus Christ; noone was any more obedient than Jesus. He always did His Father's will, even if was going to be painful to Him. This was so relevant when, in the Garden of Gethsemane, He had demonstrated

His own desire to have the cup taken away from Him, but Jesus said in Luke 22:3944: "Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. When He came to the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation." And He was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done." Jesus knew that the Father was always with Him, because for those who obey Him, He will be there with them. Jesus always wants to please the Father. John 8:29 says, "And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him." He also said in John 4:34: "Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to
finish His work." Jesus also knew why He came to earth; He knew He would have to die on the cross for all of us. He knew that He would have to suffer greatly for us and yet He obeyed the Father and went to the cross. Philippians 2:811 says, "And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." No one was or ever will be any more obedient than Jesus, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't be. Obedience is one of the most important things we can do. Our lives are so much better when we obey
Page 7
God than if we go out and do what we want to do. So many people do their own thing every day and wonder why their lives are all messed up, then they blame God. Let's stop blaming Him and start doing what we are supposed to do, what we were meant to do; let's start obeying God today and let's start doing what He has been asking us to do, then see how much better our lives will be.

he grim discovery of the remains of two hundred and fifteen children at an unmarked mass grave in Kamloops, B.C is a harsh reality of the lack of respect and dignity for human life. These children, as young as three years old, were taken from their families and moved into a residential school, abused and then discarded as if their lives accounted for nothing. This particular residential school was in operation from 1890 to 1969, when the federal government took over administration from the Catholic Church to operate it as a residence for a day school, until closing in 1978. We can't help but wonder how many more children's lives are unaccounted for, as well as how many other places have burial sites such as this one. As far as we know, these missing children are undocumented deaths. The Catholic Church has refused to release many of its residential school documents, which could shed light on unmarked burial sites. It is estimated that about 4,100 children

died while attending these schools, mostly due to malnourishment or disease. But the true total is likely much
the 1870's and 1997. The abuse that was endured within them will have lasting physical and mental effects for
higher. Large numbers of Indigenous children who were forcibly sent to residential schools were physically, sexually or psychologically abused in a system reported as cultural genocide and they were never returned to their families. The whole purpose of the residential school was to take total control of Indian children, to remove their religion, culture, identity and their connection to their families. They were then forced to learn English, embrace Christianity and adopt the customs of the country's white majority. More than 150,000 First Nations, Métis and Inuit children were forced to attend church-run, government funded schools between
generations. It is a stark example of the violence the Canadian residential school system inflicted upon Indigenous peoples and how the consequences of these atrocities continue to this day. Without love and stability, trauma continues to live on in the lives of these people. Their hearts are filled with anger, denial, betrayal, confusion and hurt. We have to ask the question, 'Why are people treated differently and considered less valuable because of the color of their skin?' They have been dealt with unjustly and it's numbing to us as Christians to learn of the betrayal and trust by the church. We know that the Lord
is very near to those who are suffering and He saves those little ones who are crushed in spirit. We know that God's relentless and all-powerful love conquers all and right now, the world needs the forgiveness and healing that only God can give. We need voices of all forms to bring to light the consequential nature of these horrific acts, a nightmare that we need to acknowledge in our history. We, as Christians, all have a responsibility. If we are to love like God loves us, then we need to change how we treat and support others. We need to change our racist attitudes and behaviors. We cannot be silent, but need to stand with those who are being mistreated in a way that does not line up with how God loves us and commands us to love one another. This is a hard truth that was 100 percent preventable and should have never happened. It is an atrocity that has to be dealt with. Both churches and government need to be held accountable. While some churches, such as the Anglican and United churches have formally
June 2021
apologized for their roles in the residential school system, the Catholic Church has so far refused to do the same. While injustice may swell up righteous anger within us, we must be careful not to be hateful, but to remain humble so that we are able to respond in love, all for God's glory, for He is the One who makes all things right. 1 Peter 2:21-24 says, "For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 'Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth'; who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return, when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously." Pray to God that He will remind us to wait on Him to renew our strength and to seek His guidance, because He is our healer and deliverer. We also need to pray that God

comfort the wounded and the brokenhearted and that they will see His goodness and love for them. God knows every hurting heart and longs to bring healing. Finally, pray that God will break our hearts for what breaks His. He made every person in His image; this is our reminder of the importance of action when we see another human being mistreated or abused. As ambassadors for Christ, we are to show the love, patience and mercy of Christ, whether we are speaking with the brokenhearted or a person of authority. The Holy Spirit in us alerts us to the truth, which allows us to recognize the truth of the Gospel, especially when it is being misrepresented. We need to stay away from false teachings. It is important to discern, when we hear someone speak something that is contrary to the teachings of Jesus, whether that
person has Christ in him or not. The law of God supersedes any regulation in society written by man. Laws serve a purpose, but as devotees of the word of God, they are not sufficient. Our God is just and righteous, so we are to do justice in His name. Isaiah 1:17 says, "Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause." When we see people oppressed, helpless or silenced, God tells us to speak for them and defend them according to His Word. When we see racism happening around us, we need to respond as a family in Christ. Contribute to their needs by showing hospitality, unite in prayer over the injustice of racism, and encourage one another. Engage in loving conversations about the value of treating each human with dignity and respect. Vote for leaders who share the same value system as
"But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
(Matthew 19:14)

you do, someone who is not afraid to address systemic racism. If you can, donate to an organization that works on the ground for change. We must be prayerful and listen for where and what God calls us to do. In a recent interview with CBC Radio's Labrador Morning show host, Janice Goudie, residential school survivor, Toby Obed, opened up with regards to the Kamloops discovery by saying: "One thing I have a hard time with is religion, but I say to everyone, pray. Pray for yourself for what you went through. Pray for your strength. Pray to know that we are not alone and these young children who have passed and who were found, they will be now recognized and maybe now they can go home and rest properly. I just say pray right now, for the families, for the generations, for the hurt, for the pain, for the struggle. This is real and all I can say is, pray. "

Ten Questions Christians
Let God turn your Questions into Answers
Book by: Dr. David Jeremiah Written by: Lynne Wood
T
his month's book is 'Ten Questions Christians are Asking' written by Dr. David Jeremiah. It came about one day when he asked his congregation what questions they might ask him, if they were just having a coffee together. Out of all the letters and emails he received, he chose these ten questions that believers want to know. There are ten chapters in this book; each chapter discusses a question in detail. When these questions are on our minds, we need the truth and promises of scripture. God's word has all the answers we seek; David Jeremiah explains the answers and brings it into focus for us to understand. Some of the questions in this book are: How can I be sure of my Salvation? Some people asked if they were truly saved because they couldn't remember the date they gave their life to Christ. They are saved, you don't have to remember. God knows the date; that's all that matters. How can I get victory over worry? Jesus said many
times, "Do Not Worry." Missionary Hudson Taylor said, "Let us give up our work, our thoughts, our plans, ourselves, our lives, our loved ones, our influence, our all, right into His hand and then when we have given all over to Him, there will be nothing left for us to be troubled about or to make trouble about." When you start to worry, stop long enough to ask yourself, "Who am I? Am I a child of God or an unbeliever?" Worry is a form of atheism because it assumes there's no God
watching over us. There's a short poem written in the 1800's that says it all. Said the Robin to the Sparrow, "I should really like to know why these anxious human beings rush about and worry so." Said the Sparrow to the Robin, "Friend, I think that it must be that they have no Heavenly Father such as cares for you and me." How can I find forgiveness? Forgiveness is something we all need when we've committed a sin. Don't make the mistake of thinking you
can hide from it; you can't. Remember David, when he lusted after Bathsheba, committed adultery, then murder to cover it up. David was in a very dark place until he asked God for forgiveness. Only in Christ can you find true forgiveness. Without the true forgiveness of Christ, the hell we put ourselves in through sin will one day be real. That's why coming to God through His Son, Jesus Christ, should be our main priority, to be forgiven and cleansed of our sins through the blood of Jesus Christ. He gave His life for your salvation. That's true forgiveness. Is there only one way to God? John 14:6 is the answer. The only answer. How can I be saved? Jesus is the Way. How can I be sure? Jesus is the truth. How can I be satisfied? Jesus is the life. This is a great book where you will find the answers to questions you might be asking. John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

hristian singer Lauren Daigle was surrounded by a Gospel choir as she performed her song "Hold on to Me," at the finale of The Voice. Lauren, who had the hit song "You Say," took to twitter and said she is "still on cloud 9 after an incredible time on The Voice." She also said, "There are so many moving pieces on days like this, and it all happens so fast, but every moment is just so much fun; very
grateful." Lauren continued to say her performance, "was one of my absolute
favorites."
In March, Faithwire had reported that Lauren is using her music video "Hold on to Me" to raise money for a variety of charities. Lauren said that she did write the song while she was on tour back in 2019 for "the person who feels lonely, the person who feels defeated." Lauren said that it is a song "to remind people that hope is around." So far, the music video "Hold on to Me" has collected more than 4 million views.

Israel Jets Hit Hamas
I
Israel Jet Fighters hit Hamas Terror Targets after Hamas uses Arson Balloon Fires!
srael Defense Forces jet fighters have struck Hamas military sites in the Gaza Strip in response to the incendiary balloons that were sent over into Southern Israel; they have caused many fires in that region. The IDF have said the buildings that they targeted were being used in terror activities and Israel are holding Hamas responsible for what is happening in Gaza Strip. There have been no reports of casualties at the moment. The IDF have said during a statement, "The IDF is prepared for any scenario, including a resumption of hostilities, in the face of continuing terror activities from the Gaza Strip." The IDF also said that it had stopped two separate incidents of ramming and stabbing attacks in the West Bank, which is quite a few miles from Jerusalem's Old City. Hamas had recently called for a "Day of
Rage" and then they threatened to restart the recent conflict they had against Israel if they went ahead with the Flag Parade, which goes through the Old City of Jerusalem. Every year, Israel has Flag Parade; it takes place in Jerusalem. It retraces the footsteps of the paratroopers from the Six Day War in 1967. Flag Day is usually on May 10th, but it was suspended this year, when Hamas had fired rockets at Jerusalem. Those rocket attacks started an eleven day war between Israel and Hamas. The parade route was changed to begin at the Damascus Gate,
but it will begin on the outside and will come in through the Jaffa Gate to the Western Wall. The peaceful march included a lot of shots of "the People of Israel live." But unfortunately, there were a few that ruined the day with shouts of "Death to Arabs." Israeli new Foreign Minister, Yair Lapid, quickly condemned those remarks. He said the people who had shouted the sayings are "a disgrace to the Israeli people." The IDF has been on high alert by deploying the Iron Dome anti missile systems. The police have 2,000 officers on high alert
patrolling on the streets of Jerusalem, as they watch for any signs of trouble during the march. Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport had to reroute flights towards the north in an effort to keep aircrafts out of the path of potential Hamas rocket attacks. Last month, Hamas fired more than 4,000 rockets deep into Israel. Hamas also bragged that their rocket attacks was a victory. Hamas didn't fire any rockets this time, but they did change their tactics by using incendiary balloons to start more than 25 fires in Israel's fields around the Gaza Strip. Many Palestinians began to clash with Israeli troops at the border. There have been at least 25 people injured in eastern Jerusalem with 17 arrests so far. There were some reports of clashes in the West Bank, but they didn't last very long and are mostly over now.

Making Water out of Air
Israeli Company making Water out of Air & Friends out of Enemies in the Middle East
A
n Israeli company is making water out of air; the company named Watergen has become the world leader in this ground breaking technology. Their goal is to provide everyone with clean, safe drinking water, and that goal is to help strengthen a bond between Israel and the Arab world. The most modern city in the Middle East is Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. It's located on the Persian Gulf. Most people may think Abu Dhabi would have plenty of water, but not so fast...there is a problem. Michael Rutman, CEO of Watergen said, "I'm not talking just about the ocean that you see outside. I'm talking about the ground water. It's all very, very salty, and undrinkable." It was last year that the UAE was the first Arab state in over 25 years to make peace with Israel, when the UAE signed the Abraham Accords. It opened the door for Watergen.
The new technology is helping them make friends from former enemies. Dr. Michael Mirilashvili, owner and president of Watergen said, "The second I heard and saw the Abraham Accords were signed, I dropped everything I was dealing with and went directly to the UAE in order to strengthen the Abraham Accords." Michael Rutman said, "The United Arab Emirates is very, very similar to Israel because it's a relatively young country that is located in the middle of the desert." The United Arab Emirates is 50 years old and the temperature is
more than 100 degrees on most days. Watergen and Emirati company, Al-Aahra Group, signed this milestone agreement for the water research program. Dr. Mirilashvili said, "We opened a water research institute in the UAE, which is a sub institute from Tel Aviv University in Israel named after my father, Moshe Mirilashvili. It helps us at Watergen to produce a formula for the best premium water in the world which will be the tastiest, the cleanest and the healthiest in the world." More big news is the laying of the
cornerstone for a Watergen production facility in the UAE. This will provide results in the UAE, and more Gulf states and Africa. As 70% of the earth is covered by water, the problem is, only 1% happens to be fresh water. The worst thing is that more than two billion people have no access to safe drinking water. But now, Watergen can change all of that. This is where Watergen steps in. Michael Rutman tells us how the Watergen works. He said, "Now for the last, I believe, 100 years, people were using a very, very simple mechanism called the heat exchanger in order to cool air. When the air reaching the dew point temperature, humidity separated and you get water." Watergen scientists kept working to make a new heat exchanger, one that will make some 1,300 to almost 1,600 gallons of water per day, extracting up to five times more water per one kilowatt of energy.

Ex NFL Player rescues man

randon Bair, who is a former NFL player, happened to be in the right place at the right time. Brandon saved the life of a truck driver, after his semi truck that he was driving was hit by a train, which started a fire in his truck. Brandon, a former defensive end in the NFL, rescued Steven Jenson, a 25 year old, from his burning truck. The accident happened in St. Anthony, Idaho. Brandon saw the accident happen and said, "I was on Highway 20 driving to my business when I saw the train hit the truck. There was an explosion right away, and the train was pushing the truck down the tracks, I got on the phone with 911 and started driving down the median to get to the front of the train when it stopped." Brandon then stopped to see if he could help in any way. He then began to run to the truck after
he heard a voice coming from the burning truck. Brandon, without hesitation, decided to go inside the truck to get
out of the truck to safety through the window. Brandon said, "We walked away, and within seconds, the fire
the driver out to safety. Brandon then crawled through a small rear window on the truck to get inside. He said, "I ran up to the window and saw dripping hot flames all over inside of the truck. I could see a guy in a seatbelt and was able to reach in and get it off him. He was talking, and I told him we had to get out of here now." Brandon knew Steven was pinned inside the cab. He worked to free Steven and Brandon was able to pull Steven
on the roof fell down inside, and the whole seat and the cab went up in flames. A few minutes later, there were a couple big booms and explosions." Steven Jensen was listed in stable condition at the local hospital, the Idaho State Police are doing an investigation into the accident. Brandon, during his ride home, called his wife. "I was able to hold it together and be tough, but then I got a little shaky when I heard her voice. Being able
to go home and put my arms around my kids, it hit me. You never know what's going to happen in life, and this shows you should hug your family every chance you get." Brandon told the newspaper that he doesn't think that he is a hero, but he doesn't think it was luck that he happened to be passing by at that exact moment. "All I can say is this guy was supposed to live. I'm a man of faith, and I've learned to listen to your gut and the promptings you get. The Lord wanted him alive. Things could have gone different, in a million different directions, but things worked out on his behalf. That's my conclusion. Whether it was me or someone else, he was supposed to live." Brandon's home is in St. Anthony with his wife Jordan and his four daughters and is the general manager of Henry's Fork Homes. He also hosts football camp for teenagers.

Happy Father's Day!
The Beauty of Life
Upon closing my eyes, I open my ears and mind To the stillness of the present, Captive to the sounds around. They appear and disappear All over and within me. As my mind drifts off again, I slowly bring it back to reality. Pause, listen, and know How wonderful it is just to be; For the mind confuses the real Too easily with the make-believe. Reconnect with this living moment; Look past the clouds and see The magic and miracle life holds in all its wonder and mystery. Keep kindness and courage close To freely love and share While moving through the struggles Of the here, how and where.
(Proverbs 27:19)
“As water reflects the face, so one's life reflects the heart.”

Everything changed after Father's passing
K
erry Joseph was born October 4, 1973 in New Iberia, Louisiana. He is one of those gifted athletes, an award winning quarterback who played in the CFL and when he played in the NFL, he was a defensive back. Kerry was quarterback in the CFL for the Toronto Argonauts until the finish of the 2009 season. He was the CFL's Most Outstanding Player in the 2007 season, while helping the Saskatchewan Roughriders to win the Grey Cup. At the finish of the season, he completed 267 of 459 passes for 4002 yards, and found the end zone for 24 touchdowns. Kerry had led all quarterbacks in the CFL in rushing with a total of 737 yards on 90 attempts and carried the ball for 13 touchdowns. When Kerry played quarterback in College for McNeese State University, he took control of the team and lead them to a 42-11 record with two Southland Conference titles during his four seasons that he started a quarterback. Kerry then did a tryout at the training camp of the Cincinnati Bengals in 1996 and afterward a tryout with Washington in 1998. He was then picked up by the
Seattle Seahawks where Kerry played safety for four seasons until 2002. Kerry left the NFL and went to the CFL where he played the position of quarterback again. He played for the Ottawa Renegades in the 2003 season. In the 2005 season, Kerry was the only third quarterback after Damon Allen and Tracey Ham in the history of the Canadian Football League to collect over 1,000 rushing yards in just one season. He finished with 1,006 yards...this is a fantastic season for someone who plays the position of running back, never mind a quarterback. After the 2005 season, the Ottawa Renegades suspended all their operations. Kerry was picked first overall in the dispersal draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Two years later on November 25, 2007, Kerry and his Roughriders won the Grey Cup for the first time in his career. Kerry was voted by fans at Grey Cup week as the first CFLPA Pro Player of the Year. Kerry was then traded to the Toronto Argonauts for the start of the 2008 season. He played just two seasons for the Argos. After the Argos released him, he went on to sign with Edmonton where he played with them until the 2013 season. Kerry then went back to the Saskatchewan Roughriders to play one more season, before he retired after the 2014 season.

Kerry is currently working as an assistant wide receiver's coach for the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL. Kerry had been raised as a child in a God-fearing home, but he didn't really make a firm commitment on following God until his father passed away and after going through a divorce and heavy drinking. All of this helped to bring Kerry to his knees. He gave his life to Jesus. In Jesus Christ there is new life and a new man and at that time, Kerry turned it all over and gave everything to Jesus. Kerry also became the beneficiary of the Athlete in Actions Gord Barwell Award for faith, character & leadership.

Bible Study...
e tend to get drawn to this Bible verse and other similar verses when we are facing trials, or searching for confidence and endurance. The Lord reveals to us that we will indeed endure hardships, but as we learn in Romans 8:28, "We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to His purpose." When we are struck with difficult circumstances, we often ask, "Why?", or "Why me?" and, "Why now?" Satan is quick to move in during these times of doubt and make us question God for our pain and hardships and ask why, in all of His goodness and wisdom, would He allow these things to happen. Satan wants us to be bitter and angry and turn away from the One who knows all and sees all, trying to deceive us into thinking that God just doesn't care. But God's word constantly reminds us that He does understand and He is in control of all things and that nothing

happens that He does not allow. God will give us the strength to persevere. Isaiah 43:2 says, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame
passes all understanding, which will guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Phil 4:7), so that we are able to see the good and purpose in trials. We are drawn together as brothers in Christ in hard times. We turn to and seek prayers from
shall not consume you." In this chapter, James tells us that during the trials of life, God wants us to trust Him. During these difficult times, God molds us into spiritual maturity so that we become more like Jesus, our Lord and Savior. If we continue to trust Him, He will use our trials for His glory. If we pray for wisdom, God will respond and give us His peace that
our church family and friends. We see faith in action and learn many valuable lessons. Jesus tells us in Matthew 18:20: "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." 1 Peter 3:12 says, "For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."

Our trials and how we trust in the Lord to overcome them can also sometimes renew other people's faith and bring them into a deeper relationship with Christ. Later on in the chapter, James tells us that if we endure and remain faithful through it all, our reward awaits us in heaven. We may have sorrow while on this earth, but it isn't a sorrow that is without hope. We have a peace and an assurance in our heart that some day we will meet our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face, and spend all of eternity in His glorious presence. What a blessed hope! Do you share that hope? If you do, then you know the peace that I'm talking about. If you don't, just know that God's grace and mercy and plan of salvation is free for all who call upon His Name, so don't delay, I pray ... call upon Him today! James 1:2-3: "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience."

Movie in Review... in Miracles

The Girl who Believes
“From her Lips, to God's Ears”
T
his movie, The Girl who Believes in Miracles, opens with the main character, Sara Hopkins, a young girl, going to her brother's high school soccer game. Sara's brother, Danny, gets pushed to the ground by an opposition player and on that same play, the other team scores a goal. At that moment, Sara's grandfather, Sam, asks that Sara start praying to God so Danny's team would win the game. Sara starts to pray that his
team wins, but then can't help but wonder why her prayer didn't work, as Danny's team lost the game. Sam then tells Sara that, "sometimes the answers to our prayers are not revealed to us in the ways we think they will be." After the game had ended, Sara, Danny and Danny's girlfriend, Cindy went for a hike to the lake to go fishing. At that moment, Sara sees a dead bird and she starts to pray over the bird for
the entire time that she is at the lake. When they decide to head home, the bird comes to life and flies out of Sara's hands. But Danny and Cindy do not believe that Sara brought the bird back to life; they believe that it was caused by the wind. Even though no one believes Sara brought the bird back to life, she is firm in her faith and decides to tell her best friend, Mark, about the bird and how she brought it back to life. The next day, Sara and Mark are accosted by bullies as they make fun of her bird story. One of the bullies happens to be the opposition soccer player that pushed Danny to the ground. The bully's dog gets hit by a car and is presumed dead. Sara then goes and heals his dog and brings the dog back to life. Also, after her best friend Mark is in a car accident, he is paralyzed from the waist down. Sara heals Mark and he walks for the first time in a year after the accident. People start talking around town that Sara has the gift of healing. Then many people start travelling to see Sara so they can have a chance at
being healed. Sara then heals a girl with cancer, a girl that is blind and a boy who is paralyzed. Sara gives God all the glory for her healing abilities; God is standing by her side the entire time. After Sara healed the third child, Sara then faints and becomes sick. Sara then is rushed to the hospital where they run many tests on her. It is then revealed that Sara has an inoperable brain tumor and doesn't have much time left to live. Sara's family and friends are devastated by this awful news; at this time Sara is in the hospital resting. Sara then tells her grandfather that her last wish would be to go to the lake where she saw God. Sara's grandfather then thinks of a plan to take her from the hospital so that he can grant her wish of going to the lake. Will God give Sara another miracle? The quality of The Girl Who Believes in Miracles is very good; the actors are fantastic. They do a really good job showing their walk of faith in the characters that they play. This movie is not only enteraining but inspirational as well.
