Ethical policies of the journal

Publication and authorship: a) Review History 396 is part of the History Institute of the Catholic University of Valparaiso, which is in charge of financing the publication. b) The structure of the Review consists of an editor, a group of co-editors, an editorial committee and external reviewers, in order to ensure quality and relevance to the content of the Review. c) The articles submitted to the journal must be original and unpublished and must not be simultaneously under evaluation or have any other editorial commitments with any other publication. If the article is accepted, Review History 396 expected that his publication of the article precede any total or partial publication of the same material. If the author would like to include an article in another journal, this journal must indicate clearly the data of the original publication, after it requested permission to Review History 396 editor. Responsibility of the Author: a) The editors and reviewers approve the articles based on criteria of quality and rigorous research. However, the authors are responsible for the ideas expressed therein and the ethical suitability of the article. b) The authors should explain that the text was written by them and that it respects the intellectual property rights of third parties. c) The authors agree to submit their texts to the external peer reviews and are committed to take into account the comments of the reviewers and the Editorial Committee, in order to carry out the requested adjustments. The changes to the manuscript should be performed within the time period indicated by the editor of the journal. After the Review History 396 received the amended article, the author will be informed about the complete approval.

Evaluation: a) Upon receipt of an article, the editorial team evaluate whether it meets the basic requirements required by the journal. The editorial team set the first filter, regarding the format, quality and relevance, and after this first review, define the products that will initiate the arbitration process. b) All items that pass the first review filter will be subjected to a process of arbitration by peer reviewers, external to the institutions, who may make suggestions to the author. c) During the evaluation, both the names of the authors and the reviewers are anonymous. d) The final decision to publish or reject articles is made by the editor and copublishers, based on the reports submitted by the evaluators.

Editorials Responsibilities: a) The Journal's editorial team is responsible for defining policies in order that the Review meets the standards that allow its position as a recognized academic journal. b) The team is responsible, after evaluation, to choose the best articles for publication. This selection will be always based on the quality and relevance of the article, on its originality and contribution to social knowledge. In this sense, when an item is rejected the justification which is given to the author should be directed towards these issues. c) The publisher is responsible for processing all items that are postulated to the journal, and must develop mechanisms of confidentiality for the duration of the peer review process till publication or rejection.
