Dear Fellow Railfan,

In an effort to attract wealthy businessmen and land developers, designers of the Orange Blossom Special – an east-coast passenger train – attempted to make its service unmatched in high-end luxury: each stop saw the addition of fresh-cut flowers, pies and cakes were baked on board from scratch, and every trek included $3,500 worth of wine, liquor, and champagne! Our cover print, available as either a metal or plank-wood sign, celebrates the extravagant train as it appeared in the 1920s. The rest of our summer catalog features an interesting selection of new rail and automotive-themed merchandise including a roster of 0-6-0 locomotives (page 10), train artwork on affordable metal signs (page 25), and colorful HO scale vehicles (page 40). So, pick your favorites and call us toll free at 800-261-5922, visit HistoricRail.com, or mail in the order form provided. Thanks for shopping! – Greg Herrick On the Cover:

“Orange Blossum Special” Signs

David Tutwiler. Known to some as the “most luxurious winterseason train ever devised by man,” the Orange Blossom Special – operated by Seaboard Air Line Railroad – ran service from New York to Miami from the 1920s through the 1950s. With a branch of oranges hanging appropriately overhead, the opulent train billows smoke as it chugs along during its first decade of operations.
