Now in its 46th year, the Hong Kong Arts Festival continues to contribute to the cultural life of Hong Kong, delighting audiences from near and far. This year, the Festival puts on a wide variety of performances that showcase a mix of classic and contemporary genres, spotlighting Hong Kong’s rich and diverse cultural landscape. Featuring some 130 performances in a packed month of music, dance, theatre, opera and more, the Festival has much to offer to arts lovers of all kinds. Alongside dazzling performances by an array of local and international artists, the Festival continues to place great emphasis on its outreach activities. To develop youngsters’ appreciation of the arts, the Young Friends of the Hong Kong Arts Festival offers local students the opportunity to enjoy the Festival’s performances and participate in multi-arts activities. Similarly, the PLUS programme gives audiences an inspirational glimpse into the creative process behind the core Festival performances through a combination of workshops, backstage tours and masterclasses. Hong Kong Arts Festival A Major International Arts Festival In, Of and For Hong Kong

HKAF, launched in 1973, is a major international arts festival committed to enriching the cultural life of the city by presenting leading local and international artists in all genres of the performing arts as well as a diverse range of “PLUS” and educational events in February and March each year.

HKAF is a non-profit organisation. Secured government baseline funding for the Festival in 2018 represents roughly 14% of its HK$125 million budget. Around 32% of the Festival’s income needs to come from the box office, and another 36% from sponsorship and donations made by corporations, individuals, and charitable foundations. It is anticipated that the remaining 18% will come from other revenue sources including the Government’s matching scheme, which matches income generated through private sector sponsorship and donations. • Outdoor events: Power Plant, Super Pool, Chorus HKAF actively collaborates with Hong Kong’s own creative talent and showcases emerging local artists. Over the years, HKAF has commissioned and produced over 200 local productions across genres including theatre, chamber opera, music and contemporary dance, many with successful subsequent runs in Hong Kong and overseas. Recent HKAF productions include A Floating Family, Hong Kong Odyssey, Chinese Lesson, Danz Up, Datong – The Chinese Utopia, The Amahs, Blast, Wild Boar and Murder in San Jose, to name a few. HKAF frequently partners with renowned international artists and institutions to produce exceptional works, such as Der Fensterputzer (The Window Washer) co-produced by HKAF, Goethe-Institut Hong Kong and Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Richard III and The Tempest produced by The Old Vic, BAM and Neal Street under “The Bridge Project” with HKAF as a co-commissioning institution, Green Snake cocommissioned with Shanghai International Arts Festival, and Dream of the Red Chamber co-produced with San Francisco Opera. HKAF invests heavily in arts education for young people. Over the past 26 years, our “Young Friends” scheme has reached over 730,000 local secondary and tertiary school students. A variety of arts education projects serving primary, secondary, and tertiary school students have been launched in recent years, featuring activities such as student showcases, pre-performance talks, open rehearsals, opportunities to attend Festival performances, as well as in-school workshops and lecture demonstrations led by international and local artists. Donations to the “Student Ticket Scheme” also make available approximately 10,000 half-price student tickets each year. HKAF organises a diverse range of “Festival PLUS” activities in community locations each year to enhance engagement between artists and audiences. These include films, lecture demonstrations, masterclasses, workshops, symposia, backstage visits, exhibitions, meet-the-artist sessions, and guided cultural tours.

羽逞舉鼎拔山之勇,身經七十二戰,戰無不利,
他一頓飯。韓信大喜,對那位大娘說:「我一定
奈徒恃勇力,卒中韓信之計。韓信命人在楚營四
重重地報答你老人家。」大娘生氣地說:「大丈
周高唱楚歌,擾亂軍心。
夫不能養活自己,我是可憐你這位公子才給你飯 吃,難道是希望你報答嗎?」後來韓信顯貴後, 以千金酬謝那位漂母。 第二場
鴻門會
秦朝末年,反秦將領項羽與劉邦約定,最先攻入 咸陽滅秦者,就能入關稱王。結果,劉邦率先攻 入咸陽滅秦。項羽對此甚為不滿,立刻率領四十 萬大軍,直奔關中的鴻門(今陝西臨潼東北), 隨時準備向劉邦發動進攻。 劉邦深知項羽勢大,只好親臨鴻門,向項羽謝 罪,得到項羽設宴招待。項羽的謀士范增多次向 項羽示意,要殺死劉邦,但項羽不肯。其後,范 增又派項莊舞劍,伺機刺殺劉邦,劉邦幸得項伯 舞劍保護。在危急關頭,劉邦猛將樊噲闖進,斥 責項羽,劉邦才可乘機脫險。 第三場

蕭何輔佐劉邦建立帝業,適逢名將韓信前來投 靠,但卻未得劉邦重用。韓信心灰意冷,夤夜馳 歸;蕭何知道後,立即策馬追趕韓信,曉以大義, 勸其回心轉意,同建漢朝。 第四場
九里山會戰
漢王劉邦與西楚霸王項羽互爭天下。劉邦拜韓信 為元帥,屯兵於九里山前,調度各路諸侯,設下 十面埋伏之計,誘項羽深入重地,將他圍於垓下。

Synopsis Scene 1: The Gift of Rice
Scene 3: The Pursuit
Before becoming the marquis of Huaiyin, Han Xin was an impoverished commoner. Once, when passing by the city walls, he came across a laundrywoman washing clothes by the river. She saw that he was hungry and offered him some food. Han Xin was overjoyed and said to her: “I will definitely repay your kindness in full”. The laundrywoman irately replied, “Seeing that you, as a man, were unable to provide for yourself, I took pity on you. I do not expect any repayment”. But after Han Xin had attained wealth and honor he kept his word and repaid the laundrywoman with a thousand pieces of gold in gratitude.
General Han Xin seeks refuge with Liu Bang, but his talents go unrecognised and he decides to flee in the dead of night. Xiao He, who is assisting Liu Bang in his quest to be ruler, realises Han Xin’s great talent only once he has fled, and immediately chases him down on horseback, in the hope of changing his mind and having him return to help establish a Han dynasty.
Scene 2: The Grand Banquet With the Qin dynasty in its final throes, General Xiang Yu, foe of the Qin, makes an agreement with Liu Bang. The first to break through the gates of the capital city Xianyang, and bring down the Qin dynasty, will be proclaimed king of the Guanzhong region. In the end, Liu Bang is the first to enter and destroy the Qin. Extremely unhappy with this outcome, Xiang Yu gathers around 400,000 troops and heads towards the Hong Gate, the entryway to Guanzhong, in preparation for an attack on Liu Bang. Liu Bang realises Xiang Yu’s tremendous power and decides to go to the Hong Gate in person to apologise for causing offence. Xiang Yu hosts a feast to welcome him, during which Xiang Yu’s strategist Fan Zeng repeatedly urges Xiang Yu to kill Liu Bang, only for Xiang Yu to steadfastly refuse. Fan Zeng then asks Xiang Zhuang to perform a sword dance, using it as a cover for the assassination of Liu Bang. Fortunately for Liu Bang, Xiang Bo intervenes and saves him. At this critical juncture of the feast, Liu Bang’s general Fan Hui bursts in to rebuke Xiang Yu, providing an opportunity for Liu Bang to escape.
Scene 4: The Battle Liu Bang, founder of the Han dynasty, and Xiang Yu, King of Western Chu, are engaged in a battle for their empires. Liu Bang’s supreme commander Han Xin has stationed his troops by Jiuli Hill, and dispatches commanders to man the passes in a plan to ambush Xiang Yu from 10 sides. Xiang Yu is lured into the trap and is surrounded at Gaixia. Scene 5: Farewell My Concubine Over the many years of battle, Xiang Yu’s concubine Yuji has stayed by his side in the army camp. Xiang Yu has exhibited great strength and bravery, victorious in 72 battles. However, valour alone has not been enough to prevent him falling prey to Han Xin’s plan. Han Xin has commanded his men to surround the enemy camp, singing Chu songs in order to remind their foes of their homeland, leaving them homesick and disheartened. Xiang Yu, hearing these Chu songs coming from four sides, believes that the Han armies have captured Chu lands, and that he has suffered defeat. He is a hero in difficult circumstances, yet remains immersed in love. During a feast with Yuji, the two weep and sing songs of regret. At dawn, knowing that she will be unable to escape the encirclement of the enemy troops, Yuji snatches Xiang Yu’s sword and takes her own life, severing her ties to him.

我演《霸王別姬》,從 1 9 8 0 年代創演到今天,
1 9 9 3 年, 我 被 阮 兆 輝 邀 請 一 同 組 織「 粵 劇 之
算來已是三十多個年頭了!
家」,延續我們七十年代「香港實驗粵劇團」推
近代粵劇演的盡是才子佳人的生旦戲。八十年 代,我長期擔任各大劇團的丑生及武生,但在另 一個劇團—勵群,卻能夠讓我以各樣的行當登 場,大膽地以「大花面」擔綱主演當時創演的《霸 王別姬》,這齣戲由中篇劇發展至全劇,至今兩 度獲香港藝術節邀請演出,實在令我引以為傲。
廣戲曲的宏願,翌年聯同羅家英、尹飛燕等演出 大型粵劇《醉斬二王》。這齣戲引來了香港藝術 節的關注,希望我為 1 9 9 5 年度演出一個有代表 性的戲曲人物,幾番思量,終於決定請葉紹德把 《霸王別姬》由中篇發展成為六幕的全劇,除了 由尹飛燕擔演虞姬,還在之前新添的三幕戲: 〈漂母飯信〉、〈鴻門宴〉和〈月下追賢〉,由
初演的《霸王別姬》只有三幕戲:〈坐帳〉、〈九
羅家英擔演韓信、阮兆輝擔演蕭何、任冰兒擔演
里山〉和〈別姬〉,與我拍檔演虞姬的是花旦李
漂母、廖國森擔演劉邦、新劍郎擔演樊增,演員
寶瑩,同場我和她先演《秋江》,接着是文武生
組合堪稱「鑽石」陣容,在往後多次的重演都是
羅家英和花旦余蕙芬的《平貴別窰》,中休後才
維持不變。
是中篇的《霸王別姬》,配戲的還有李奇峰。可 惜自勵群散班後,這個劇本便束之高閣矣……

今次的演出,我們把全劇精簡為五幕戲,刪掉
那麼,我的霸王又該如何演繹呢?先說扮相,我
〈坐帳〉一幕,既能令劇情更加緊湊,也讓演出
勾的是京劇霸王的臉譜,這個臉譜只採用黑白
時間不致過長,而且對於年屆耄耋的我而言,要
兩色油彩,雖帶哭相,卻充滿裝飾美,活現楚項
是一人擔演「霸王」到底著實太吃力,若以我和
羽霸王超凡脫俗的偉力與氣質,又透露出這位末
羅家英的「雙霸王」為亮點,則會是一個十分適
路英雄的無限哀嘆。我搜羅了許多霸王臉譜的資

要演《霸王別姬》,重頭戲當然是〈別姬〉,可 是京劇的經典版本,戲份卻是落在虞姬的身上, 尤其以梅蘭芳大師尾段的「劍舞」最是吸睛。其 實在京劇《霸王別姬》的劇本,也曾略有提及劉 邦和項羽皆鍾情於虞姬,但最後獲得虞姬芳心的
回頭,再說一下我是怎樣打造粵劇《霸王別姬》
是霸王。因此,我認為這個粵劇版本要加回霸
的……京劇的經典《霸王別姬》,我從梅蘭芳大
王與虞姬感情戲,故當年撰寫〈別姬〉這幕戲,
師的電影,到內地各大劇團的名家舞台演出,看

The Creation and Legacy of the Cantonese Opera Farewell My Concubine I have been performing in different productions of Farewell My Concubine for over 30 years, since it was first created in the 1980s! In recent years, performances of Cantonese opera have tended towards themes of romance between talented scholars and refined beauties, with leads going to the sheng (young male) and dan (young maiden) roles. During the 1980s, I had always played the chousheng (clown) and wusheng (military male) roles for various major opera troupes. However, at that time, one troupe – the Lai Kwan Cantonese Opera Troupe – gave me the opportunity, to take to the stage in a variety of roles, going so far as to let me play the main hualian (painted face) role in Farewell My Concubine. That opera has been developed from a medium length operetta into a full-length opera, and I take great pride in the fact that it has been invited twice for the Hong Kong Arts Festival. When it was first staged, Farewell My Concubine had only three scenes – “In the Tent”, “The Battle” and “Farewell My Concubine”, and my co-star, playing the part of Yuji, was Lee Po-ying, a leading performer of the huadan (female lead) role. On stage, she and I would first perform the excerpt Autumn River, followed by Law Kar-ying and Yu Wai-fun playing the wenwusheng (civil and military male) and huadan (female lead) roles respectively, in the excerpt Farewell at the Kiln. It was only after

the intermission that the operetta Farewell My Concubine would begin, with Li Kei-fung joining us in the production. Sadly, since the disbanding of the Lai Kwan Opera Troupe, this arrangement has fallen by the wayside. In 1993 I was invited by Yuen Siu-fai to form a group called Home of Cantonese Opera, which was an extension of a troupe we had formed in the 1970s - The Hong Kong Experimental Cantonese Opera Troupe – with the aim of promoting Cantonese opera. The following year I performed with Law Kar-ying, Wan Fei-yin and others, in a large-scale Cantonese opera production of Execution of the Duke’s Second Brother. This production attracted the attention of the Hong Kong Arts Festival, and they approached me to discuss bringing an archetypal Cantonese opera character to the stage for their 1995 edition. After some deliberation, I decided to have Yip Siu-tak expand Farewell My Concubine from an operetta to a fully developed six-scene opera. In this new opera Wan Fei-yin continued to play the concubine Yuji, and in the three new scenes – “The Gift of Rice”, “The Grand Banquet” and “The Pursuit” – Law Karying played Han Xin, Yuen Siu-fai played Xiao He, Yam Bing-yi played the Laundrywoman, Liu Kwoksum played Liu Bang and Sun Kim-long played Fan Zeng. Together they were a really star-studded group of performers, and this line up remained unchanged for numerous performances.

For this current production we have edited the opera to five scenes, doing away with the scene “In the Tent”, thus tightening the plot and shortening the performance. At my advanced age, playing the role of Xiang Yu is extremely demanding. The ideal solution in the current production was for Law Karying and I to share the role, making the “double” Xiang Yu a highlight of the performance. Law Kar-ying plays Xiang Yu in the scenes The Grand Banquet and The Battle, allowing me to dedicate my energy to playing Xiang Yu in the final scene Farewell My Concubine. In this performance we also welcome two younger generation wenwusheng role actors Leung Siu-ming and Song Hung-bo. The former takes the baton from Law Kar-ying to play Han Xin, the latter plays Fan Hui. Both actors are adept at singing and martial performances, and have bright futures, be it in literary or martial operas, and are totally fulfilling my hopes of continuing the legacy of Cantonese opera. The other roles in the opera are played by the original cast. Wan Fei-yin plays the role of Yuji with artistry and feeling. Her sword dance is pure, unfettered and polished, making her the obvious choice for the role. Yuen Siu-fai plays the role of Xiao He in the characteristic laoshen (senior male) style of Beijing opera master Zhou Xinfang (stage name Qilin Tong). In the scene “The Pursuit”, his singing skills are excellent. Liu Kwok-sum plays Liu Bang, and is the archetypal wusheng (military male) role actor in today’s Cantonese opera. He provides a talented and steady performance in the scene “The Grand Banquet”. Yam Bing-yi has had to withdraw from the performance due to health reasons, with Lam Po-chu taking her place in the role of the Laundrywoman. Lam’s experience on the stage will surely allow her to rise to the challenge of the role. The role of Fan Zeng is played by Sun Kim-long, and Wan Yuk-yu assumes the role of Xiang Bo. Let me review once more how I forged the Cantonese opera version of Farewell My Concubine from the classic Beijing opera version. I watched numerous performances, from screen productions of Master Mei Lanfang to stage performances by China’s various renowned opera troupes. The character of Xiang Yu in Beijing opera, whether
played as a wusheng (military male) role by Yang Xiaolou or as a hualian (painted face) role by Jin Shaoshan, is still imbued with the majesty of a king. The role is on “display” rather than “played” (according to opera jargon), and posturing and movement are sparse, even in the opening of the scene “The Battle”, any action is based on the needs of the plot. With regards to the traditional Cantonese opera version of Farewell My Concubine, I have not had the honour of experiencing it firsthand, but from what opera seniors have told me about, it was the singing that was paramount. Law Kar-ying has performed the scene “Suicide by Wu River” in a style inherited from his father Law Kar-kuen, which is mainly sung in the “ancient voice” (a stage version of imperial speech based on the speech of the central plains). In that case, then how did my rendition of Xiang Yu come about? First let’s discuss the facial appearance, which is based on the facial mask used in Beijing opera. This is painted with black and white oil-based facial paint, and although it has a melancholy cast, it is beautiful and brings to life Xiang Yu’s extraordinary power and demeanour, as well as revealing the sorrow of a hero at the end of his road. I studied numerous examples of the Xiang Yu mask and after careful research discovered that there were differences in the masks painted by the earlier generation of masters. Jin Shashan’s white nose tip for example, was in the form of a circle, while Yuan Shihai’s was a small triangle. In the end I went with the Yuan style. When it came to singing, I was unable to emulate the hualian (painted face) singing style of Beijing opera, and therefore had to sing in the style of the wusheng (military male) role. With regards to acting, I combined the styles of the hualian (painted face) and wusheng (military male) roles, taking the bearing and stance from the former and the martial artistry of the latter, which is on display in the opening of the scene “The Battle”. In this production, the “weary work” involving martial prowess is undertaken by the much younger and still vigourous Law Kar-ying. I believe he can successfully portray the heroic Xiang Yu who has the strength to defeat 10,000 enemy soldiers.

In Farewell My Concubine, the most important scene is, of course, saying farewell to the concubine. In the classical Beijing opera version, the weight of this scene is borne on the shoulders of Yuji. Especially attention-grabbing is the "sword dance" by master Mei Lanfang towards the end of this scene. In earlier Beijing opera versions both Liu Bang and Xiang Yu had feelings for Yuji, but in the end it was Xiang Yu who won Yuji’s affections. As such, I felt that the Cantonese opera version should highlight the feelings between Xiang Yu and Yuji, and I requested that in the writing of the farewell scene, more song verses be added for the two characters to allow them to more fully express their feelings for each other. For example, there is the aria Yuji sings to Xiang Yu as she offers him wine when he returns from battle, the songs sung while Yuji forcefully smiles and dances to help Xiang Yu forget his troubles, and the lines when she refuses to burden him by fleeing with him. Because of these songs, this scene becomes longer, but when it is performed as an excerpt, it can stand alone in its own right. It is my honour to play the lead hualian (painted face) role in this production of Farewell My Concubine for HKAF, and I wish to offer my thanks to the patron deity of opera, Master Wah Kwong! Yau Sing-po began opera studies with his father as a small child. Early in his career, Yau concentrated on the wenwusheng (civil and military male) roles. In the late 1960s, he widened his repertoire to include both laosheng (senior male) and chousheng (clown) roles. He has toured with many major troupes to mainland China, south-east Asia, the US, Canada, Australia and Europe. He also studied under the veteran Beijing opera performers Li Wanchun and Liu Xun. Yau has played lead roles in HKAF Cantonese opera programmes such as Fifteen Strings of Cash, Farewell My Concubine, Towering Legends of the Three Kingdoms, Stealing the Imperial Horse, an adapted Beijing opera classic, and Li Bai: The Immortal Poet. In 1994 he performed in Cao Cao and Yang Xiu at the Asia Arts Festival. He has also created several new works such as Madam She is Appointed General, Li Bai: The Immortal Poet and Heroes in Troubled Times, which was adapted from Underground Liaison. In 2002 he performed in King Liguang, a Cantonese opera adaptation of King Lear, to wide acclaim. Yau was awarded a Best Stage Performer Award by the Hong Kong Artists' Guild in 1992. In 2009 he received the HKSAR Government’s Medal of Honour. In 2016 he was appointed as an Honorary Fellow of HKAPA. In 2017 he was awarded a Bronze Bauhinia Star and an Award for Outstanding Contribution in Arts by the HKSAR Government and the Hong Kong Arts Development Council respectively.

從小接受父親羅家權及伯父羅家樹的嚴格培訓,學習基本功架,並曾先後問藝於 粉菊花、呂國銓、劉洵及李萬春等京劇大師。羅家英多年來致力承傳粵劇,曾為 香港藝術節擔演《曹操、關羽、貂蟬》、《李太白》等,又與香港中樂團合作粵 曲演唱,開創粵劇演唱會先河。 2 0 1 2 年 1 月於香港文化中心大劇院演出《 羅家 英精選二零一二年 : 劇藝縱橫五十秋》,關公一角享譽劇壇。2 0 1 2 年 7 月,獲香 港特別行政區政府頒發「榮譽勳章」,表揚他在推廣粵劇藝術工作上的貢獻。

Xiang Yu
Law Kar-ying began his training under his father, Law Kar-kuen and his uncle, Law Karshu. He also studied with Fan Kuk-fa, Lui Kwok-chuen, Liu Xun and Li Wanchun. He has performed in Hong Kong Arts Festival's Towering Legends of the Three Kingdoms, Li Bai: The Immortal Poet and more. He has performed yuequ (Cantonese operatic song) with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and was the first to organise a Cantonese opera concert. In January 2012, he won wide acclaim for his remarkable interpretation of the role of Guan Yu, performed at his 50th anniversary showcase held at Hong Kong Cultural Centre. In July of the same year he received the HKSAR Government’s Medal of Honour for his contribution to promoting the art of Cantonese opera.

Concubine Yu
Famous for playing dan (leading female) roles, Wan Fei-yin studied singing with renowned musician Wong Yuet-san and studied operatic movement with performers Ng Sik-yi, Ng Kung-hap and Tam Shan-shan. She has also trained with Yam Tai-fan and Beijing opera star Ma Yuk-kei, learning stage martial arts from them, as well as studying the art of opera’s Northern School with Liu Xun. Wan’s voice is sweet and her movements elegant. She was the vice chairperson of The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong and the president of Hong Kong Cantonese Opera Artists Club. In 2012 she was awarded the HKSAR Government’s Medal of Honour and received the Award for Best Artist (Xiqu) by Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

Liang Zhaoming is a National Class One Performer. He was admitted into the ZhanJiang Little Peacock Cantonese Opera Training Course at the age of 13 and has since studied with Hung Zheuk-ping, Lam Kar-sing and Lam Kam-tong. He began his career in Hong Kong in 2012 under the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme. Liang earned a Gold Award at the Guangdong Province Competition for Performing Artists, an Outstanding Artist Award at the 11th Guangdong Province Arts Festival and was named one of the Ten Best Young Artists in Guangdong Province among other praise. His performance at the 2010 Shanghai China Expo won wide acclaim.
阮兆輝
蕭何
本地資深粵劇表演藝術家,七歲起參演電影,後拜名伶麥炳榮為師學戲,從事演 藝工作六十年。他擅演文武生及小生,演丑生、鬚生甚至花臉戲亦非常出色,素 有「神童」、「萬能泰斗」之美譽。1991 年獲「香港藝術家」年獎、2003 年獲香 港藝術發展局頒發「藝術成就獎」,演藝造詣高超之餘,他亦一直致力推動粵劇 發展,進行大量教育及傳承的工作,2012 年更獲香港教育學院頒發榮譽院士。
Yuen Siu-fai
Xiao He
Yuen Siu-fai is a veteran Cantonese opera performer. He started acting at the age of seven as a child actor in movies. He later studied Cantonese opera with Mak Bing-wing and has since then been in show business for 60 years. He specialises in not only wenwusheng (civil and military male) and xiaosheng (young male) roles, but also chousheng (clown), xusheng (senior male) and even hualian (painted face) roles. He was awarded Artist of the Year by the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards in 1991 and received the Artist Achievement Award from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council in 2003. In 2012 he was appointed as an Honorary Fellow of the Education University of Hong Kong for his contribution in the promotion and education of Cantonese opera in Hong Kong.

1960 年代跟隨名宿吳公俠學藝,後從許君漢學習北派,1980 年代走紅於星馬一帶。 他舞台經驗豐富,聲線優美,近年灌錄了多張唱片。 除了演出外,更積極參與粵 劇推廣及幕後製作,作品有《七賢眷》、《血濺紅燈》、《元世祖忽必烈》、《蝴 蝶夫人》、《碧玉簪》、《 妻嬌妾更嬌 》及《十八羅漢伏金鵬》等。2 0 0 1 年參 與致群劇社《袁崇煥之死》及《一人劇場獨腳騷之唱談粵劇》的演出,同年與南 鳳組織新鳳凰劇團,並初次編寫粵劇劇本《荷池影美》。2002 年自組新輝煌劇團; 2003 年製作新編粵劇《蝴蝶夫人》;2004 年再度執筆編寫《碧玉簪》,往後陸續 編寫了多個劇本。最近作品有《大唐風雲會》及《珍珠旗》。現任八和會館副主席、 曾任粵劇發展基金顧問委員會及粵劇發展諮詢委員會委員。2 0 0 9 年榮獲特區政府 民政事務局頒發嘉許獎章。

Sun Kim-long studied opera with Ng Kung-hap in the 1960s and later learnt the art of the Northern School under Xu Junhan. He grew popular in Singapore and Malaysia in the 1980s and has recorded various CDs. He is also dedicated in the promotion and stage production of Cantonese opera. His works include Seven Filial Kins, Madame Butterfly, Jade Hairpin, The Wife and The Concubine and more. He has performed in drama productions like An Eternal Promise in 2001 by Amity Drama Club and has written operas including Madame Butterfly (2003), Jade Hairpin (2004) and more. He has also formed the Sun Fung Wong Opera Troupe with Nam Fung in 2001 and his own company Sun Fai Wong Opera Troupe in 2002. His recent works include The Heroes of Tang and The Flag of Pearls. He is the vice chairperson of The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong and was a committee member of the Cantonese Opera Advisory Committee and Cantonese Opera Development Fund. In 2009 he was presented with a commendation medal by the Home Affairs Bureau.

畢業於香港演藝學院中國戲曲演藝深造文憑(粵劇)課程,師承劉洵、許堅信、 張世杰等。曾擔演《群英會》、《呂布與貂蟬》、《甘露寺》等劇,亦曾參與《乾 坤鏡》、《盜御馬》等大型製作,並多次隨院團外訪,演出備受好評。

Song Hong-bo graduated from HKAPA with an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts (Cantonese Opera) and has apprenticed under Liu Xun, Hui Kin-shun, Cheung Sai-kit and others. His major works include Battle of Wits, Lu Bu and Diaochan, Mirror of the Universe, Stealing the Imperial Horse and more. His overseas performances have also been wellreceived.

香港八和粵劇學院第一屆學員,曾隨任大勳學習北派及王粵生學習唱腔。隨後加 入雛鳳鳴劇團,曾演《辭郎州》、《李後主》、《英烈劍中劍》、《蝶影紅梨記》 等劇;又隨該團前往美加及澳洲等地演出。近年經常參與本港各大劇團擔演武生。

Liu Kwok-sum is a graduate of the inaugural class of The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong. He was coached by Yam Tai-fan in a school of Cantonese opera influenced by Beijing opera, and he studied singing under the tutelage of Wong Yuet-sang. Liu later joined Chor Fung Ming Cantonese Opera Troupe to perform in Farewell to a Warrior, The Last Emperor of Southern Tang, Butterfly and Red Pear Blossom and other opera productions, touring to the US, Canada, Australia and other countries. He has recently been a leading performer of wusheng (military) roles across different troupes.

隨粵劇名宿陳覺非學藝,及後向羅家英和李寶瑩執弟子禮,深得二師薰陶,於 1980、90 年代親自領班於星、馬、越南等地表演。回港發展後,乃各大班台柱之 一,近年更在藝術上多作突破性嘗試,轉任丑生及武生,甚受觀眾歡迎。

Xiang Bo
Wan Yuk-yu apprenticed under veteran Cantonese performers Chan Kok-fei, Law Kar-ying and Lee Po-ying. He led Cantonese opera troupes on tour to places like Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam in the 1980s and 1990s and became a principal of various troupes on his return to Hong Kong. His recent performances in chousheng (clown) and wusheng (military male) roles have won popular acclaim.

自小受叔父林錦堂的戲劇藝術薰陶,在戲班中學習,並跟隨任大勳老師學習北派, 王粵生老師學習唱腔,經常得到叔父和各前輩指點教導,工花旦其表演戲路廣闊, 早年參與彩龍鳳劇團、頌新聲劇團演出,之後又加入慶鳳鳴、鳳和鳴、錦添花、 非凡晌、日月星、新群英、龍嘉鳳等劇團,與不同演員合作,亦經常到星馬、美 加等地交流演出,近期亦參與由白雪仙女士領導任白基金主辦《西樓錯夢》、《帝 女花》等演出。
Lam Po-chu Laundrywoman Lam Po-chu studied with her uncle Lam Kam-tong as a child and later studied the art of Northern School under Yam Tai-fan and singing under Wong Yuet-sang. She has performed with various troupes including Choi Lung Fung, Chung San Sing, Hing Fung Ming, Fung Wo Ming, Kam Tim Fa, Yat Yuet Sing, The Dragon and Phoenix and more. She has also frequently performed in countries like Singapore, Malaysia, USA and Canada. Recently she has participated in performances held by the Yam Kim Fai & Pak Suet Sin Charitable Foundation including West Mansion and Princess Changping.
