As we expand, our mission to serve expands with us.
and redefine the future of health care—with you at the center.
With your support, we can make Hoag— your community hospital—a national destination for world-class care.
More than new buildings, Hoag’s expansion is about commitment. Our commitment to delivering cutting-edge, comprehensive care across specialties, in one location. Our commitment to treating our patients with compassion and providing them with the support they need to navigate the complexities of their unique health care journeys.
Thanks to the generosity of our philanthropic community, Hoag’s commitment to being a leader in health care isn’t just an idea; it’s a reality.
At its heart, the Boldly Hoag campaign is about redefining what comes next for our patients, our staff, our community, and health care more broadly.
BOLDLY HOAG
Elevating the Patient Experience
Building on the most advanced thinking in health care, architecture, hospitality, and customer service, new spaces in Irvine have been thoughtfully designed to elevate the patient experience—from arrival, to wayfinding, to how spaces look and the way they make people feel.
Recruiting and Retaining Top Talent
The best physicians seek institutions that afford them the freedom to not only practice medicine but also move it forward. They join Hoag because—thanks largely to philanthropy—we offer resources and opportunities commensurate with academic medical centers in a nimble, flexible environment. Facilities built with the support of Boldly Hoag will amplify our ability to attract and retain the brightest talent in medicine and empower them to practice, deliver, and evolve health care for patients across Orange County and beyond.
Designing and Building the Future of Health
Only a handful of community hospitals have the potential to be pacesetters. Hoag is one of them. By investing in technology, research, and innovation, Hoag remains committed to the pursuit of excellence and compassion in service of creating a new future for health care. It’s time to build a better way.
Three bold, interconnected initiatives are supported by Boldly Hoag:
BRINGING HOAG’S VISION TO LIFE
Established in 2010, Hoag’s Irvine campus has seen tremendous growth over the last decade.
It is currently home to:
• Unparalleled integrated birthing options at the Fudge Family Birthing Suites
• Specialized programs for cancer and digestive health
• Premier emergency services at the Benjamin & Carmela Du Emergency Pavilion
• Renowned orthopedic care at the Hoag Orthopedic Institute, ranked in the top 30 best orthopedic hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report
These established, highly sought-after services at the heart of the Irvine campus will be joined by even more of Hoag’s world-class programs.

Expanded Facilities
6 new buildings, 120,000 square feet of ambulatory facilities, 155 new inpatient beds, 11 operating rooms, 2 additional procedure rooms, and 2 new parking structures.
Expanded Capabilities
Expanded research and clinical trial programs, innovative technology, new specialty care facilities, and dedicated service centers for cancer, women’s health, and digestive health.
Revolutionary Design
A blend of high-tech and high-touch at every turn, with wellness and health-enhancing features such as indoor-outdoor spaces, meditation gardens, and seamless, hospitality-focused experiences from arrival to patient rooms and every step in between.
In addition to substantial renovations to existing facilities, Hoag’s reimagined Irvine campus, scheduled to be complete in 2025, will feature:
Two new specialty hospitals anchor our campus expansion: one for our Women’s Health Institute and another for the Hoag Family Cancer Institute and the Digestive Health Institute.
Hoag’s own research—as well as national trends indicating the need for better maternity care and the increasing prevalence of both cancer and digestive disorders—emphasizes the particular importance of investing in these areas.
A DIVERSE POPULATION, A CUSTOMIZED APPROACH
To meet the unique needs of Orange County’s growing population, Hoag’s Sun Family Campus will bring together innovative and holistic resources not often found in one location. Patients will have access to state-of-the-art technology, a variety of dietary options, an interfaith worship center, healing gardens, outdoor terraces, and more to help them reach optimal health.
Our new spaces will elevate every aspect of the care we provide.
CANCER CARE: CARING FOR THE WHOLE PATIENT
Since 2013, the Hoag Family Cancer Institute has been Orange County’s number one cancer care provider. The clinical leaders we recruit and mentor have designed an innovative, multidisciplinary approach to care that leverages the latest in research and diagnostic technologies to improve prevention, detection, and treatment. The new cancer pavilion in Irvine will bring this proven approach to more patients in need of answers and support. With patients’ needs and concerns driving decision-making, our new multispecialty cancer hospital will support every part of the cancer care journey and maximize adaptability as cancer care at Hoag evolves.
WOMEN’S HEALTH: ANSWERING THE CALL
A destination for comprehensive inpatient and outpatient women’s health care, the new Women’s Health Pavilion in Irvine will unite leadingedge technology and compassionate care through a team of specialists working together for each patient.
This new space has been thoughtfully designed to support a collaborative approach to care and will serve as an extension of the high ranking programs found at our Newport Beach campus.
As the second-busiest maternity hospital and the highest-volume breast cancer provider in California, women throughout Orange County and beyond trust Hoag with their most intimate health care needs. Their trust emboldens our commitment to making the best care more convenient and accessible to more women.
Creating an innovative space for our Women’s Health Institute in Irvine allows us to deliver on that commitment to our community.
DIGESTIVE HEALTH: STEPPING UP
Orange County has long lacked facilities specializing in integrated digestive health care, leaving patients few places to turn for diagnosis and treatment. As a result, digestive disorders are often discovered in the emergency department after symptoms become severe enough to require hospitalization. With the largest digestive health program in Orange County, Hoag has a plan to do more for these patients.
Building on the comprehensive, whole-person model of care offered at the Digestive Health Institute Clinic in Newport Beach, the new Digestive Health Pavilion in Irvine will be the only facility of its kind in Orange County. Opportunities to pursue continuing education and research will support the best minds in this specialty, providing patients with personalized preventive and acute care, timely evaluations, and precise diagnoses.

This is a pivotal moment in Hoag’s history. Over the past 70 years, the community has demonstrated its commitment to Hoag by partnering with us to realize each next step in our vision, catalyzing innovation to constantly improve patient care. As a private, not-for-profit organization that depends on philanthropy to do our work, we wouldn’t be where we are today without the generosity of our donors.
Once again, Hoag is relying on the support of philanthropic partners who are committed, as we are, to leading the way forward in health care.
As Hoag continues to push boundaries and lead the way, we invite you to be bold with us.
