WELCOME FROM DR. KAREN WARREN COLEMAN ★ EUGENE MCDERMOTT HEAD OF SCHOOL Dear Hockaday Parents, Alumnae, Faculty, and Friends: Welcome to An Evening Pep Rally Benefiting Hockaday Athletics, the 2022 Hockaday Parents’ Association Benefit! Enclosed please find your program for this year’s Benefit, which details the one-of-a-kind auction items that await you on this special night of April 2, 2022 and the many people, businesses, donors, and volunteers who make possible this extraordinary celebration of Hockaday’s community. The Hockaday Parents’ Association Benefit Committee has planned a unique pep rallyinspired evening for the community and is delighted to welcome our treasured Hockaday Parents, Faculty, Staff, Trustees, and Alumnae to the festivities. The participation and presence of our diverse and vibrant community make the Benefit one of the most highly anticipated nights of the year. The thought and preparation the Committee puts into each aspect of the auction and celebration is clear, and this annual celebration is a wonderful example of the spirit of the Hockaday Community – supporting one another and our amazing girls, as we highlight one of our Four Cornerstones - Athletics. The proceeds from this special event will support improvements to Hockaday’s Athletics fields and outdoor venues and will enhance the School’s Athletics and Wellness programs. Miss Ela Hockaday had a bold vision for her School when she named Athletics as one of the School’s Four Cornerstones more than 100 years ago. Our Athletics and Wellness programs help students develop a sense of confidence, self-esteem, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and cooperation that prepares them to meet challenges both on and off the field. This visionary approach integrates Athletics across the Hockaday student experience in exciting, new ways. Your generosity speaks volumes to our girls about the importance you place on their continued growth and strengthens our ability to provide the best resources for our students for years to come. On April 2, we will enjoy fellowship, merriment, sumptuous food from Food Glorious Food, and lively music from the Emerald City All Stars Band. You are invited to celebrate with each other and are encouraged to view the wonderful auction items described in this guidebook. As always, the talents and generosity of the Hockaday community are overwhelming and never cease to amaze me! As you celebrate with friends, please remember, with gratitude, the hundreds of donors and volunteers who make this night possible and toast Anne-Marie Myhre and Katie McLeroy, our Benefit Chairs, and Carla Bolden, our HPA President. Warmly, Karen
THANK YOU FROM ANNE-MARIE MYHRE AND KATIE MCLEROY ★ 2022 HOCKADAY BENEFIT CHAIRS Dear Friends, Get ready to make some noise! Finally, we have the opportunity to gather again on campus for this treasured once-a-year, school-wide celebration of our school and community. We invite you to fully engage in the spirit of the evening as we continue a tradition of generosity and camaraderie.
WE’VE GOT SPIRIT! Louisa May Alcott once said, “It takes two flints to make a spark.” With that in mind, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents, friends, faculty, alumnae, and trustees whose dedication, diligence, and care for the past year have made tonight an incredible victory for Hockaday’s Athletics and Wellness fields, facilities, and programs. A special thank you to our Live Auction chairs, Stacy Crouch, Toni Muñoz-Hunt, and Jan Kramer, along with Jodie Hastings and Mandy McBride for chairing Big Board and Caroline Flanigan and Chandler Winslow for leading the Silent Auction. Together with their All-Star teams of volunteers, they have filled the pages in this program with extraordinary gifts from our community. Because of their dedication, we have the opportunity to bid on once-in-a-lifetime experiences, fabulous vacations, and gifts for families and friends, along with the occasional splurge for yourself or your spouse.
YES, WE DO! The spirit of generosity at Hockaday is tremendous, and it has been a joy to witness the commitment of so many individuals that extends beyond our campus. From Special Occasions, chaired by Lana Constantine ’98 and Jennifer Rhoda Marsh ’93, to the Sewell Vehicle Raffle, chaired by the devoted Malia Mitchell, hundreds of Hockaday parents and friends have given their time, talent, and unwavering enthusiasm to champion this Benefit to a record-setting year. Thank you to the many vendors who have donated their products and services. Please be sure to reward them with your patronage.
WE’VE GOT SPIRIT, HOW ‘BOUT YOU? We are all proud to be a part of the Daisy Nation. As in years past, we encourage you to enjoy this celebratory evening of food, fun, and friendship as we show continued support for Hockaday now and in the years ahead. Thank you for your participation, generosity, and spirit. Go Daisies! With sincere appreciation, Anne-Marie Myhre and Katie McLeroy

PROCEEDS FROM THIS EVENING WILL SUPPORT HOCKADAY’S ATHLETICS AND WELLNESS PROJECT For 108 years, Athletics has played an integral role in the lives of Hockaday students. Ela Hockaday was bold and visionary when she named Athletics as one of Hockaday’s Four Cornerstones in 1913. Over these many decades, Hockaday’s Athletics and Wellness programs have taught the girls to enjoy the mental and physical benefits that stem from teamwork, self-sacrifice, and perseverance. Hockaday remains committed to providing numerous opportunities that enable its girls to develop and nurture the knowledge and skills necessary to live healthy, active lives. Proceeds from the Hockaday Parents’ Association 2022 Benefit will help fund the addition of state-of-the-art outdoor facilities, including a new competition track with a turf field center, two new competition and practice fields oriented in a North-South configuration, and a new softball diamond, as well as a 1.5 mile cross country path that will circumnavigate the campus, spectator-friendly event access, and easy-access parking to enhance the full experience for students, parents, and families. The design also includes a new main plaza, which will serve as a much-needed communitygathering space with a new concessions pavilion, as well as pavilion with a meeting room and team facilities. With the support of our entire community and your generosity tonight, this year’s Benefit – An Evening Pep Rally Benefiting Hockaday Athletics – will help to elevate Hockaday’s Athletics and Wellness fields and facilities and will provide extraordinary new opportunities for the girls to continue in their development as healthy, strong, emotionally grounded, confident young women.
