Race and Ethnicity in the 2024 Elections
The share of White voters in the United States has been declining over the past several decades. During that time, the electorate has become more diverse, with notable gains in voter turnout among Latino and Asian voters, with smaller increases amongst African American voters. As we approach the 2024 election, it stands to reason that minority voices will constitute one of the most important constituencies, as the outcome in many battleground states will hinge on who minority voters will choose on Election Day. This colloquium will examine the current state of the race, using publicly available opinion data to shed light on what kinds of behaviors we might expect to observe when the votes are counted.
Dr. Craig Burnett’s research focuses on voting behavior, direct democracy, electoral institutions, race and ethnic politics, and research methods.
