Next Gen Teaching: Embracing Generative AI
Thursday, May 2 and Thursday, May 30 (4:30pm-6:00pm)
This interactive workshop will provide you with an overview of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Bing, and DALL·E. We’ll discuss effective ways to incorporate these tools into assignments and address ways to mitigate cheating.

Level-Up Learning

This workshop is designed to provide you with the principles of gamification. We’ll discuss how to incorporate game elements and technology into your lesson plans to increase student motivation, engagement, and learning retention.

Strategies for the Digital Classroom
Thursday, May 16 and Thursday, June 13 (4:30pm-6:00pm)
Learn how to effectively integrate cutting-edge digital tools and resources into your teaching practices to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. We'll highlight practical methods for creating interactive and inclusive learning environments that leverage technology for assessment and personalized instruction.

As Hofstra's Senior Instructional Designer, Tom has over a decade of experience in faculty development and online teaching. Tom's background in edtech has provided him the opportunity to continually evolve and incorporate exciting tools and techniques to support effective pedagogy.
Mitch leads the EdTech team at Hofstra which comprises professionals with expertise in instructional design, instructional technology, and classroom technology support. His research interests include online learning, faculty development, and inclusive teaching practices.
An educator with experience in university composition and literature classrooms, Josué works as an instructional designer for EdTech. He enjoys helping faculty develop engaging online courses, testing new pedagogical strategies, and learning about emerging approaches to classroom instruction.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion from Hofstra University that verifies 1.5 CTLE hours for each workshop. Hofstra University is a NY State Approved Sponsor (provider) of Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE).
