CATCHES BY MONTH (2023 VS 2024):
CHANGING STRIPES
It was a tale of two tails for inshore pelagics in the Northeast this year. While Atlantic bonito showed up in historic numbers along the Atlantic coast in 2024, false albacore were far less prevalent...
NORTHERN GAMEFISH TEMPERATURE RANGE
Ideal water temperatures for striped bass remained consistent with 2023. The lower graph shows temperature distributions for the most-caught northern gamefish species in 2024.
TIDE CHANGE: REDFISH VS STRIPED BASS
While striped bass (>5,000) continue to be the most-caught species on GotOne, 2024 saw increased usage of the app in the South and the Gulf of Mexico. Based on a year’s worth of redfish data (334), we can see some early insights about tidal preferences. Striped bass were caught more frequently on the outgoing tide, while redfish on the incoming.
2024 FOCUS ON STRIPED BASS
Striped bass management was a hotly-debated topic in 2024. While not approved, one measure proposed was to lower the current 28-31” slot.
Most prolific year classes in last decade: ● 2015-16 ● 2018-19
