Located within Bangkok’s premier shopping district adjacent to Central World Plaza, this is the city’s only integrated world-class hotel, convention center and lifestyle leisure complex. The iconic Centara Grand hotel tower soars high above the multipurpose podium to take its place as a landmark on the Bangkok skyline. The Centara Grand hotel tower houses 511 rooms and suites with stunning views of Bangkok. The tower’s base consists of a multipurpose podium that holds an 11-story parking garage and a cinema complex. The hotel offers eight restaurants, lounges and bars — including a signature rooftop restaurant — as well as a fitness center and a luxurious spa.

Ultra-high ceilings with full-height windows bathe birch hardwood floors in natural light and bring the fascinating drama of the City home in stunning picturesque views. Inviting public spaces designed with natural woods, rustic metals, stone, soft lights and the sounds of trickling water create a mood that is carried through the elevator cabs and into each apartment, creating a relaxing and zen-like atmosphere in the bustling Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. 2009 Lester Dundes Interior Design Award Winner - Residential

Two villas were designed for this project. Both were inspired by the architecture of the house, but unique interiors were provided. One villa was based on the traditional French/Italian vocabulary with a light and bright color palette of white with gold and black accents. The idea of calligraphy is used to show strength in the design through the black accents. As contrast, warm, vibrant colors, such as red, orange and gold, were used to add visual interest and depth to the palette. The second villa was based on a historical Gothic/Tudor vocabulary with a dark and moody color palette with jewel accents. The jewel box concept derives from the idea of a dark, sumptuous interior that holds beautiful jeweled pieces within it, which sets a cooler ambience.

The Delta Ottawa City Centre is located in a prime downtown location. As part of the rebranding of the Delta Hotels and Resorts, the Ottawa property has undergone a multi-millions dollar renovation. HOK was engaged in the redevelopment and full reconfiguration of the exterior, public spaces and newly designed guestrooms showcasing Delta’s new brand. The design took cues from Ottawa being the capital of Canada for its history, diversity and urban setting through the selection of texture, color and pattern. The approach to the design was to maximize functionality, comfort and convenience within a clean and modern aesthetic. The completely redesigned lobby provides natural light with spaces designed to be seamless, providing an effortless experience for the guests.

Located one hour outside of Geneva, set into a hillside along the idyllic shores of Lake Geneva, this historic building was built in 1906. The Swiss Development Group commissioned a meticulous renovation and restoration of the property, which offers the highest levels of privacy, security, technology and personal service. Luxurious moulding details and rich materials blend with the historic nature of the building, which features the mansion’s original beams, mirrors and paneling restored and combined with modern conveniences such as Crestron full home automation technology. Residents can take advantage of exceptional hotel services including a cigar lounge, private wine cellars, private cinema, business center and a Givenchy Spa.

This upscale, Muscat beachfront resort and residential development evokes a sense of refined calm, where space and openness are luxuries. The distinctive guest experience harnesses the strength of the region’s natural resources. Warm grays, blues, gold and terra cotta combine with smooth, cool stones contrasting with rough plaster to emphasize the regional design. Local stone, shells and materials were reused from the site. The hotel is part of the Wave Muscat development, which will include an 18-hole golf course.

As one of Dalmatia’s most striking and identifiable views, the First Bay site sits directly opposite the medieval fishing village of Primosten. The steep rocky site is the location for the 5 Star First Bay Resort that features a cross section of luxury villa and hotel accommodations. The design intent of the Resort and landscape features has been extracted from the local flavour of the region. These elements have been thoughtfully combined with contemporary architectural styles and technologies to develop an identifiable style for the Resorts. Transparency through buildings is a fundamental design element allowing visual access through inset glazed walls viewing out to the sea.

Located on the banks of Lake Austin, the design is inspired by the adjacent meandering garden. The project expanded the existing spa into a 6,000 square foot luxury spa and fitness center. The contemporary blue and green color palette creates a calming effect for patrons. The program included retail and reception, men’s and women’s locker facilities, eight treatment rooms, manicure/pedicure room, lounge area, and state-of-the-art fitness center.

Embracing a romantic fountain courtyard, Four Seasons Hotel Mexico occupies a refined oasis in the heart of Mexico’s capital - just steps from Chapultepec Park and the exclusive Polanco neighborhood. The Four Seasons Mexico City’s guestrooms and three specialty suites welcome guests with fresh, updated décor. The Jardin, Reforma, and Presidential Suites have been redesigned, incorporating a new sophisticated, bold color palette that evokes the landscape, culture, and the indigenous style of Mexico itself.

The goal of this 364 key hotel renovation was to retain the classic, established taste of Philadelphia, while enhancing the ambience through improvements in aesthetics and comfort. Patrons were provided with a more residential feel by coupling modern furnishings with those of a more classic design. This created an eclectic mix of the sense and comfort of home, as well as the richness in quality and appearance of a finer hotel.

The Futian Shangri-La Shenzhen, the flagship hotel of Shangri-La, is located in the central business district of Shenzhen, one of China’s fastest growing and most important cities. Interior design was provided for the hotel lobby, lobby lounge, ballrooms, meeting rooms, VIP rooms, guestrooms, club room suites, presidential suites, club lounge, service apartments and chairman’s room. The design inspiration is twofold: the original story of Lost Horizon’s ShangriLa, a peaceful paradise, removed from the stress of the modern day world; and the landscape & culture of China. This resulted in an elegant, sophisticated hotel that feels profoundly connected with its environment.

HOK’s design team visually enlarged the space with light, neutral colored walls, providing a backdrop for bright accents and various woods grains. The eclectic atmosphere is enhanced with vintage furniture, art and an oversized community board that offers customers a space to connect. Another great feature is the coffee stained concrete floor, which adds a unique touch to a simple floor treatment. The furniture chosen is practical, comfortable and flexible, maximizing the available space. For example the main seating area is a large harvest table - conveying a community setting, which supports the clients objective of creating an unforgettable experience. The Green Grind has been award a LEED® Gold Certificate with many sustainable design features including; millwork built from bamboo, utilizing salvaged materials where ever possible, and Green Guard certified or low-emitting materials were specified. And based on HOK’s recommendation, 100% of the cafe’s electricity is purchased from Bullfrog Power.

InterContinental’s luxury five-star resort hotel is located along an incredible stretch of beach on the Red Sea coastline and organized around one of Jordan’s largest freshwater pools set in an oasis-like landscape. HOK’s primary design mandate was to create a distinctive branded image. Cues were taken from the surrounding landscape: the rocks of Petra and Wadi Rum, coral reefs, and of course the sea. Water features, tone finishes, and a deep, rich colour palette highlight the contemporary interiors, enhanced with design references to local arts, crafts, and building traditions. The site contains five specialty restaurants that feature an array of international dining, as well as a health spa, a children’s centre, a retail arcade, meeting and conference facilities and a large ballroom/convention facility.

Boasting a rich legacy, the InterContinental’s midtown locale bears testament to classic New York City. Interior renovations to guestrooms and private spaces were made to “re-imagine” a vintage classic and restore grandeur. The new design takes cues from the property’s heritage and evokes Federalist style, welcoming guests with an ode to glamorous travel with grand entrances and a spacious lobby while also incorporating the hotel’s commitment to sustainable practices, energy efficiency and state of the art technology. Guestrooms design reflect an aesthetic that can be described as “new traditional,” befitting the property’s original spirit. Calming white walls provide a soothing envelope for the custom crafted furnishings of mixed woods along with saturated ochre accents and neutral grays. Rooms are elegant but comfortable to give guests a feeling of home. In homage to artists from the hotel’s inception, each room is graced with a custom Hudson River-style art mural in sepia tones.

Located four kilometers off the coast of Dubai, this hotel is the first fully masterplanned five-star island retreat. A selection of exclusive dining rooms and a full-service spa will ensure that every guest’s need is satisfied. The hotel’s organic design fits into the lush landscape. The lobby, dining rooms and spa are all designed as a collection of intimate vignettes, blurring the boundary between indoors and out. Expansive glass panels that open to admit the ocean breezes, and an earthy palette of natural materials and rich textures further the connection with nature. The public areas of the hotel complement its most luxurious space: the hotel room. Here, the luxury of space prevails. The doublewidth of the room immediately draws the eye outdoors to the plunge pool and the Arabian Gulf. A spacious terrace accommodates living or sleeping arrangements.

Suite 5000’s aesthetic embraces the property’s Oriental heritage as inspiration while also celebrating the grandeur and elegance of Manhattan with modernist touches and superior craftsmanship throughout. The suite’s color scheme of soft dove gray and ivory, accented with rich charcoal and black, is enhanced by the natural sunlight from the suite’s floorto-ceiling windows. Breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline, Central Park and the Hudson River complement the residential feel of the space. Additional features of Suite 5000 include a dining room, with seating for ten, accented by a Swarovski crystal wall installation; a full-sized chef kitchen with separate entry; an optional dedicated fitness area with equipment customized for individual guests; and, a master bathroom complete with a large soaking tub, oversized steam shower with views of the Hudson River and personalized bath amenities.

The delicate curves of the native dogwood tree provided inspiration for the guestrooms’ design. Elements are defined by the beauty of this tree’s curves and the peacefulness of its flowering branches. A custom wall covering allows for a subtle, pearlized, tone-on-tone impression of the flower as a headboard focal point. Individual “islands” for sleeping, cleansing and city viewing allow guestrooms to function as more than the sum of their parts – a key feature of European design. The sleeping area is wrapped in white, with a deliberate change in the color of the Spanish porcelain tile floor that defines its boundaries. The design of the renovated public areas, including the lobby, the Q Bar and the Signature Restaurant, is inspired by the concept of Atlanta as a transportation hub. The design blends the city’s built environment with the dogwood’s delicate richness.

The design for MGM Grand Sanya creates a tropical resort where guests enjoy a memorable entertainment experience in an urban sophisticated setting with many amenities. The space combines local cultural influences with the contemporary, fresh, fun and energetic MGM brand to provide guests with a “wow” factor. The hotel features six exclusive villas, retail venues, meeting spaces, spa and fitness center and a variety of dining possibilities. The new Champagne Suite brings together both modern and classic design elements to create a glamorous space. Upon entering the suite, guests are met with a striking series of floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the Grand Parlor with natural light, while offering breathtaking views of midtown Manhattan. The design of the second floor was inspired by the distinct colors of champagne varietals. The dÊcor of the Master Bedroom Suite was influenced by the refreshing Chardonnay grape with a palate of ecru, cream and amber tones. This scheme continues into the suite’s lavish Master Bathroom where guests can pamper themselves in the large walk-in shower or indulgent soaking tub. The guest bedroom suite pulls from the more intense notes of a Pinot Noir with glistening rose tinted silvers that aerate warm copper and deep red accents. Guests are encouraged to take advantage of the oversized outdoor terrace, perfect enjoying unobstructed views of the city below.

The magnificent Jewel Suite by Martin Katz is adorned in rich fabrics and littering jewel-inspired tones and finishes to create an atmosphere suggestive of luxury and romance. The experience begins when guests step into the Jewel Suite, encountering lavish Port Laurent stone floors, diamond-like wall coverings in soothing jewel tones, a stunning 20-foot ‘diamond waterfall’ chandelier, and ‘floating’ crystal jewel boxes encasing haute couture jewelry creations by Martin Katz. The sprawling Grand Parlor is flooded with light from the suite’s floor-to-ceiling windows, highlighting the grand piano sitting center stage. These themes are continued on the second floor, creating an especially intimate experience. The romance is taken to new heights on the suite’s third floor with one of the few wood burning fireplaces in a New York City hotel. Guests can opt to take in the city views from the spa installed on their private outdoor terrace.

Catering to the business community, the Marriott Executive Apartments are located at the Doha City Centre, in the heart of the city’s financial and business districts. Many of the one- to three-bedroom apartments have stunning views, including the Doha skyline and the Arabian Gulf. Each offers the comforts of home with a full gourmet kitchen, entertainment centre, and dedicated work area. Maid service is also included. Located on the roof of the 42-storey tower is a full fitness and exercise facility, including a pool. At the base are full business support amenities. Features also include state-ofthe-art meeting facilities, Saray Spa, and nine upscale restaurants & bars offering international cuisine.

The program encompassed a $20M renovation and repositioning of this luxury Golf Resort & Inn including comprehensive guestroom and suites renovation. Additionally, the interior design for a new ballroom facility, as well as the full renovation and repositioning of the spa and fitness facilities has been provided. Program included expansion planning and renovation of the existing 4,200 square foot spa to include additional treatment rooms and expanded locker facilities. Additions encompassed a new 2,500 square foot retail, fitness and salon area, new outdoor treatment cabanas, spa pool, meditation gardens, and relaxation areas. The spa continues the Mediterranean influenced California-style of the property with color schemes designed around proposed treatments, including lavender and olive.

The Marriott Renaissance is connected to the Doha City Centre, the region’s largest shopping mall, as well as to the Courtyard by Marriott and the Marriott Executive Apartments. All the guest rooms, including the 431-square-foot executive guest rooms, are expressively yet functionally designed, with complete amenities for well-traveled business executives or leisure travelers. HOK’s design team aimed for a look that is elegant, hip, and contemporary. Features include state-of-the-art meeting facilities, an outdoor pool, Vitality Health Club, Saray Spa, and an array of upscale restaurants and bars offering international cuisine and breathtaking vistas of the Doha skyline and the Arabian Gulf.

The Emerald Lounge is a whimsical, dynamic bar within the Revere Hotel. The scene is set with sleek lined furniture and polished finishes and is dramatically lit with a rich green glowing onyx bar. A sculpture greets you at the entry and traverses the space referencing the famous twister that inspired that very first iconic journey to Emerald city. But a lounge is not complete without the VIP Bar, which is otherwise known as the Ruby Room. Secretly tucked away, the Ruby Room’s intoxicating poppies lure guests into this intimate space.

Rock Hotel Oqyana is a development project being built on the man-made islands of The World, off the coast of Dubai. The five-star luxury Rock Hotel will be located on Impataka Island within a contemporary 12-story glass structure. Inside, guests are welcomed into an electric, elegant space. Restaurants include the 120-seat Boston Bar, 200-seat Teatro, and 170-seat Lebanese-themed Mawal. All offer unique entertainment and dining experiences. Situated on the premier island of Al Maryah, the Rosewood Abu Dhabi is surrounded by the glistening Arabian Gulf yet grounded by the vast desert. The interior spaces of the five-star 189-key and 137 residential unit property take cues from this local topography as well as local culture, merging the vastness of the desert’s white sand dunes with the crystal blue of the Arabian Sea. Throughout the design, soft tonal colors inspired by the textural essence of the desert landscape are balanced by pops of blues and greens symbolizing the sea. A layering of materials and contrast of finishes arouses the senses with a tactile experience, while indigenous artwork, sculpture and accessories instill a sense of place.

La Cava is a kingdom of wine in an atmosphere of dramatic contrast between the old and new. The design inspiration for the space is drawn from the rich history of wine making and the sense of a journey into the deep reaches of the wine cellar. The juxtaposition of smooth glass and metals against heavy textured stone walls and distressed wood finishes, creates a sense of style and luxury. A glass case with contemporary racks provides the core for a circular staircase. At the foot of the stair an impressive display of “Home of the Red” beckons guests to the high, rustic tables. The perfectly placed lighting accentuates the richness of the red wines against the lush backdrop of warm woods. As a counterpoint to this, the “Blanc de Blanc” displays the very best in white wines and champagnes. The floor-toceiling frameless low iron glass creates a crispness that contrasts with its surroundings. Specially designed thin profile metal racks allow full focus on the wine bottles which appear to float in the air.

Rarities is an exclusive destination is located on the second level of the Villard Mansion. The venue draws inspiration from the days when gentlemen gathered to socialize over a drink and a cigar. All of the historical elements have been kept, with discreet antique and artifact embellishments that romanticize the bygone era of the 1880s. The eclectic mix of furniture and soft goods were carefully curated, and the rich, whiskey and deep aubergine color palette enhance the original millwork. The upholstered walls, specially-selected period art of oil portraits, marble busts, and historic maps caters to those special guests that appreciate unique and memorable experiences.

The bar is ornamented with polished metal, glass, and mirror to display the glassware and liquor, adding an extra element of sparkle that plays against woodsy landscape. Designed to evoke the essence of “chill”— offsetting New York City’s adrenaline and energy, the newly redesigned Wow and Extreme Wow (E Wow) specialty suites at the W Lexington offer something highly coveted and rare in urban environments — a unique experiential setting filled with unpredictable creativity. The color scheme for the W New York suites artfully combines lighter neutral tones such as cream and taupe with chocolate brown, shimmering silver and bronze, and hues of aubergine and chartreuse. For instance, dark hardwood floors are accented with a light brown chic wool/silk animal print area rug,and a plush cream-colored “shag” runner in the bedrooms adds a mod touch of light to richer finishes and textures.
