LULAC Davenport presents 51 local students with Scholarships

Davenport, IA.- Council 10 of the League of United Latin American Citizens, (LULAC), in Davenport, IA celebrated the 2023 scholarship awards last Sunday, July 30. Scholarship awards are based on grades, financial need, community involvement, and leadership. Emphasis is also placed on the individual’s motivation, sincerity, and integrity, which is revealed through a personal essay.

This year close to $30,000 was awarded to 51 area high school, undergraduate and post-graduate students.

LULAC has considered education its number one priority since it was established in 1929. Council 10 raises funds locally through weekly Friday Night Bingo, Trivia Nights, operations at its Activity Center, the annual LULAC Fiesta Queen contest fundraiser, the Adolph Lopez Annual Golf Memorial Outing, and from corporate and individual sponsors and donations. Local funds are submitted to the LULAC National Scholarship Fund, (LNSF) for matching funds.
