Elle poursuit dans cette voie avec le lancement à Baselworld 2019 d’une nouvelle Nautilo, non seulement adoucie et plus habillée, mais également d’esprit vintage. On y retrouve tous les codes de la montre de plongée Nautilo d’origine, conçue par un ingénieur naval, mais cette version Vintage s’assortit mieux avec un complet ou un polo qu’avec une combinaison de plongée. L’élégant cadran bleu soleillé, la lunette unidirectionnelle simplifiée en céramique bleue, le bracelet en cuir brun, les aiguilles et les index bâton lui confèrent son style classique. La traditionnelle lecture en triangle marquée par les positions accentuées à 12h, 4h et 8h se fait beaucoup plus discrète, seulement représentée par des doubles index. A diver resurfaces Anonimo is well known to watch enthusiasts for its robust and sporty watches bearing evocative names – Militare, Nautilo – enhanced with the casual chic touch of its country of o rigin, Italy. With the 2018 arrival of the Epurato, featuring a softer build and a slimmer 42mm size, the brand clearly placed the emphasis on elegance. It continues in this direction with the Baselworld 2019 launch of a new Nautilo, not only graced with a gentler, smarter look, but also imbued with a vintage spirit. While it contains all the aesthetic codes of the original Nautilo diver’s watch, designed by a naval engineer, this Vintage version goes better with a suit or polo shirt than with diving gear. The elegant sunray-patterned blue dial, simplified unidirectional blue ceramic bezel, brown leather strap, hands and baton-type markers all endow it with an unmistakably classic style. The traditional triangular read-off marked by the accented positions at 12 o’clock, 4 o’clock and 8 o’clock is far more discreet, represented only by double hourmarkers. The screw-down crown naturally remains at 4 o’clock, while the watch is still waterresistant to 200 meters and houses the same automatic movement as its sporting predecessors.

Les premières versions en acier avaient montré que Baume & Mercier s’était donné les moyens d’en offrir beaucoup, sans facturer trop. La variante en or rouge de ce modèle enfonce le clou. Le design est inchangé. La Clifton est racée, habillée, élégante et ne manque pas de détails, comme ses cornes ondulantes et le long chanfrein poli qui suit la carrure de boîte satinée. Le choix d’un or rouge, qui est en réalité un or rose particulièrement chaud au regard, accentue ces effets. Le cadran est blanc très légèrement crème et parfaitement chic. La mire qui marque ses points cardinaux est le signe que le mouvement qui agit à l’intérieur est certifié chronomètre. Il s’agit d’une version légèrement modifiée du Baumatic lancé l’année dernière. Amagnétique, à 5 jours de marche, ultra-fiable, le seul changement réside dans le spiral, qui n’est plus en silicium, sans que cela impacte les caractéristiques du mouvement. Et à nouveau, le tarif est bas. CHF 6800.– pour une montre suisse, dotée d’un calibre qui n’a rien de basique, à longue autonomie, certifié COSC, abrité dans un boîtier en or qui n’a pas été pensé dans une optique économique, c’est un accomplissement rare. Unique peut-être.

Right from the time it launched in 2018, it became clear that the Clifton Baumatic had a lot going for it. The first steel versions had shown that Baume & Mercier had given itself the means to offer considerable substance, and at an eminently affordable price. The red gold version of this model once again proves this point. The design remains unchanged, since this Clifton is sleek, stylish, elegant and brimming with details, such as its undulating lugs and the long, beautifully polished chamfer running along the satin-finish case middle. The choice of red gold, which is in fact a pink gold creating an especially warm visual effect, accentuates these features. The dial is a slightly creamy shade of white and perfectly chic. The crosshair marking its cardinal points is a sign that the movement operating inside is chronometer-certified. This is a slightly modified version of the Baumatic launched last year. Non-magnetic, ultra-reliable and endowed with a five-day power reserve, its only new feature is the fact that its balancespring is no longer made of silicon, without affecting the characteristics of the movement. Once again, the price is very reasonable : CHF 6800 for a Swiss watch, equipped with a caliber that is anything but basic, comfortable autonomy, COSC certification, and a gold case that has not been designed from a cost-saving perspective. This model thus represents a rare and perhaps unique achievement.

Sous un verre très bombé avec effet lunette astronomique, la Bridges Cosmos met en vedette deux globes rotatifs visibles au recto et au verso. A 3h, le globe terrestre avec océans en creux et continents en relief joue les rôles d’un indicateur jour-nuit et d’une heure universelle. A 9h, le globe céleste présente les constellations du zodiaque : garnies d’hydro-céramique luminescente, elles brillent intensément dans l’obscurité. Selon le même procédé, le cadran en saphir, invisible de jour, offre une vue du ciel en timelapse de nuit. Cadran heures-minutes concave et tourbillon sous grand pont typé Girard-Perregaux complètent la scène en 3D.

Architecture and Girard-Perregaux Spectacular architecture for a watch that significantly changes appearance at night. Under a strongly domed glass with an astronomical telescope effect, the Bridges Cosmos features two rotating globes visible on the front and back. At 3 o’clock, the globe with hollowed oceans and continents displayed in relief serves as a day-night indicator and world-time display. The celestial globe at 9 o’clock presents the constellations of the zodiac : filled with luminescent hydroceramics, they glow intensely in the dark. Likewise, the sapphire dial that is invisible during daytime offers a timeless view of the sky at night. This 3D scene is complemented by a concave hour-minute dial and tourbillon beneath a large characteristic Girard-Perregaux bridge.

Poetry and Bvlgari Highly symbolic, notably to embody immortality or renewal, the peacock is back in the Diva’s Dream collection. Strongly present in ancient Roman mosaics, it naturally finds its place at the heart of the watch with fan motifs inspired by those of the Caracalla thermal baths. Its reappearance is particularly poetic : it suggests rather than asserts its majestic stature. We imagine it through a natural feather, focused on an eye, which covers the surface of the dial. With this astonishing “artistic crafts” creation, Bvlgari provides a fine example of its passion for unexpected materials and bright colors along with its inexhaustible creativity as it celebrates its 135th anniversary.

Painting and Ulysse Nardin Ulysse Nardin, which has made a habit of turning the spotlight back on erotic watches, has teamed up with the famous Italian comic book author Milo Manara to create 10 sensual Classico Manara watches featuring a woman (Nadia) and/ or a mermaid (Ulyssa) depicted naked in an aquatic environment. Although they jointly tell the story of a romantic encounter, they are each considered self-sufficient. The designer’s original watercolors were reproduced using the ancestral technique of miniature enamel painting in Ulysse Nardin’s workshops in Le Locle. While the model features the same piano, Vito Corleone figurine and the winding lever shaped like a violin case (a classic mafia hiding place for guns) as the previous edition, the musical score is replaced by the logo of the 1972 poster.
