who we are

OUR HERITAGE

From our inception in 1836, when Stephen Holland and Frederick Sherry began as woolen merchants in London’s Golden Square, Holland & Sherry has specialized in the finest textiles for the apparel industry. Ranging from sumptuous wools and silks to rugged Scottish tweeds, the collection became the benchmark for quality and craft in the nineteenth century. Having established a regional reputation for providing the best in apparel cloths to tailors and luxury brands, our company grew as distribution broadened worldwide. Holland & Sherry later moved to Savile Row where the apparel division remains a fixture today.

In 1998, Holland & Sherry Interiors was born out of this legacy. Taking inspiration from these traditional apparel fabrics, our interiors textiles have a transitional quality suited for all aspects of the decorated room. With wool, our most celebrated natural fiber, we have pushed the boundaries of design and performance to create a collection defined by excellence and rooted in heritage.

In addition to fabrics, Holland & Sherry has developed collections which range across product categories from custom embroidery, rugs, wallcovering, trim, leather, hardware and furniture. Every item we produce reflects our core values of quality and craftsmanship, in keeping with what Holland & Sherry started 180 years ago.

the four pillars

WOOL

Wool is at the heart of Holland & Sherry's ethos. Grown and shorn ranging from the hills Scotland to the shores of Australia, this naturla fiber forms the core of our approach: a commitment to the wool fiber and quality products across all categories. Holland & Sherry employs sustainable practices from fiber to finishing, assuring clients of our environmental commitment and that of our range of products will endure over time.

HERITAGE & BRITISH TAILORING

1836, the year of Holland & Sherry's founding, initiated our role in providing the best textiles to the world's finest tailors. This set the benchmark for quality and craftsmanship in the 19th century, and our tradition of excellence continues nearly 200 years later. 1998, Holland & Sherry expanded into the interiors market, bringing men's apparel fabrics to a much larger canvas — the home. In our industry, Holland & Sherry integrates the fundamentals of British Tailoring from Savile Row with timeless style, exquisite materials, masterful construction, and personalized service. Similar to Holland & Sherry Apparel's unparalleled relationship with leading tailors, we work with leading interior designers in a manner that is custom at its core.

CUSTOM

Custom epitomizes Holland & Sherry's approach to design. Our embroidery collection, for instance, stands among the most exquisite offerings in the interiors industry. First designed by our embroidery artist and then executed by our skilled artisans in Germany, the collection incorporates luxurious materials and innovative techniques where scale and color can be altered to fit any client's design requirements. Similarly, our distinguished wallcovering collection, also led by in-house artists, offers boundless customization for printed and painted options. Moreover, our rug collection, crafted using traditional handknotted wool techniques, is fully customizable in terms of color, size, design, and fiber selection. Creating completely unique designs tailored to our clients' preferences is both a defining skilland a source of immense satisfaction for Holland & Sherry Interiors.

DEPTH OF COLOR

Manufacturing our own textiles, Holland & Sherry achieves a depth of color unparalleled in the interiors industry. This process is intricately linked to the art of yarn production at our exclusive mill. Here, the rich hues of a designed colorway are blended from individual strands, resulting in yarn that is luxurious with subtle color variations. The importance of depth of color to Holland & Sherry extends to other product categories, as color stories derived from our fabrics influence the rug, wallcovering, and embroidery design processes. The interplay of tones and shades creates a captivating visual experience across our entire collection, evoking sophistication and refinement within the home.

what we do

FABRIC

Holland & Sherry began with cloth. From our earliest days as a purveyor of suiting material on Savile Row, to our couture quality designs for the interiors industry, the emphasis has always been quality, consistency, and vertical manufacturing.

EMBROIDERY

Scale. Color. Pattern. Intricate techniques. Boundless production capabilities. At the Holland & Sherry embroidery atelier, fine handwork combines talents with state of the art instruments to offer unlimited possibilities.

RUGS

The large and varied Holland & Sherry rug collection is almost exclusively custom. The depth we can draw on in terms of fiber options, mills, and craftsmen provides all the tools to make your ideas come to life, whether it’s your own take on one of our existing designs, or a concept you develop from scratch.

WALLCOVERING

Our wallcovering collection was born out of our longstanding devotion to fine quality and surface. Our portfolio of textured, printed and painted designs explores countless techniques in painting as well as innovative printmaking.

LEATHER

No two leathers are alike. Our leather is responsibly sourced from the finest tanneries in Europe and South America. Each hide is hand selected and the collections curated to emphasize and illustrate the inherent characteristics of the article.

HARDWARE

With luxurious material offerings and modern finishes, our cabinet hardware is distinguished by its clarity of design and consistent outstanding quality.

TRIM

True to our roots, these embellishments are not only a testament to artisanal design and craftmanship, but also manufactured locally in the United Kingdom using our very own finest wool and linen yarns.

FURNITURE

Our storied history in apparel textiles informs the frame and form of our very first upholstery collection. Through thoughtful design, the Holland & Sherry Furniture Collection is a tailored assortment of upholstery pieces that recognizes our sartorial beginnings and follows suit.
